from Thierry to Thoric (just saying Hi!)

After some vivid discussions with you on the spelling and naming of marijuana (yes, you've converted me as far as the spelling goes) I thought I'd look you up. Turns out we're namesakes. Well, almost. You Derek, me Derick. Which in French is Thierry, a name I contemplated using, but I'm not really into aliases, so I just used an abbreviation of my name (unofficially it's Dirk).

In your drug chart you use 'marijuana' in stead of 'cannabis'. We're not being very consistent, are we? :)

You say you're an armchair political activist. Well, I'm contemplating starting a party through the Internet, with human-induced climate change as the main topic and public transportation as the main solution, but not left-wing (that choice isn't available yet in Dutch politics). All my texts are in Dutch and I haven't even set up a website, so I can't refer you to anything yet, but if you've got any tips (eg on setting up a political party through the internet - has that been done before?), they'd be very welcome. From one Great Leader to another!

categories and psychedelia

hi thoric- i've reorganized the hallucinogens more in line with your chart. Deliriants are now under dissociatives; if you want to get rid of deliriants in favor of your more accurate categories I would say go ahead, but i personally don't feel comfortable doing that. I know what the difference between an anticholinergic and a cholinergic is but have no idea how to tell them apart. I also see that you put up all those "psychedelic art" etc articles, and was wondering if you thought there should be any connection between those and the hallucinogens project. Personally im' not sure. --Heah (talk) 15:53, 23 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Asking for help

I am asking for help as I am running out of options. User:Viriditas is continually reverting almost everything I do, and refusing to discuss it on the talk page. I don't know how to respond to this, because he simply won't explain what he is doing. It looks to me like he is pushing a pretty extreme agenda at the expense of other points of view, but I'm willing to try to see it from the other side. In the past you've commented on this issue, and I need your help if you have a few minutes. Thank you, Guttlekraw3 06:15, 26 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The article contains many verifiable facts, but that doesn't mean it's not a ridiculous rant. Certainly hemp is a very versatile plant, and there was a lot of misinformation being circulated around the time it was banned. Indeed, a lot of the things mentioned in the article are also covered in Marijuana#History. But it's not magic, it won't singleplantedly solve world hunger, or replace crude oil, and for God's sake it's not extraterrestrial.

Having this article cited as a reference does the encyclopedia no favors at all. – Smyth\talk 30 June 2005 21:12 (UTC)

Hard and soft drugs proposed merge

Thank you so much for your input on the subject, I'll admit I'm very ignorant when it comes to any of the technical terms considering drugs and the legalities involved. You mentioned another article should be made before merging these. I don't have the knowledge on the subject to author this myself and was hoping you could assist in the regard. Thank you. Question

There are currently no redirects for Tobacco addiction nor Nicotine dependence. Care to create them? There's a number of page options, but I thought I would ask for your help.--Viriditas 08:32, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Smoking cessation is certainly one solution, although I'm not certain it is the most accurate; I'm willing to admit I'm wrong, but I thought about redirecting tobacco addiction to drug addiction, and nicotine dependence to physical dependence. Your thoughts? --Viriditas 10:44, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

FPC Drawings and Diagrams

Hi Thoric,

Just to let you know that I've moved your question on Wikipedia talk:Featured pictures to Wikipedia_talk:Featured_picture_candidates#Drawings_and_diagrams where it will get more attention.

Nice diagram by the way. -- Solipsist 11:31, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

FP Candidate: drug charts.

Thanks for notifying me :) --Vidarlo 19:13, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not too keen to give reasons for this, but since you ask, I'll do.

  1. The single phase transformer diagram has sources. As far as the discussion about the drugchart went, it does not have the same degree of sources; it can be discussed whatever it is original research.
  2. My education is within electronics. So I guess I was a bit biased, and I also saw that the image was correct.

Whilst I'm still partially against your drugchart, I see that I should've abstained from voting.

  1. Ok, it was not too stunning really, but it illustrated the article, and it is essential to understanding the topic.
