Third party sources

Hello Pete Bowman; I saw your query on another editor's page [1]. You're very WP:WELCOME to join Wikipedia and get involved (and it looks like you've already created an account!). Your expertise would certainly be welcomed in writing about the general subject of children's illustration; perhaps contributing to the articles about the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, or the Children's literature#Illustrations section.

However, one needs to be objective, and that's probably not possible if writing about yourself. What matters for Wikipedia is that everything that is written is WP:VERIFIABLE—there needs to be a reliable, third-party references that supports what is being summarised (see WP:CITE). For a subject to be included in Wikipedia it is tested against the standard of WP:NOTABILITY. Perhaps you could start by populating your User:Thepetebowman page with links to news/media/written coverage about the work that you do? This is your own WP:USERPAGEe (not part of the main Wikipedia namespace) and you're free to do with it as you wish. However, it may ultimately help another editor in locating information about yourself, if they were to document your history at a future point (if the third-party material is deemed sufficiently reliable in order to do so). —Sladen (talk) 19:26, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
