Your edit to Hundred Years' War

I didn't understand your change from "Edward III" to "Edward II" in the section Beginning of the war: 1337–1360: wasn't Edward II dead by then? If I'm missing something, please revert and explain on the discussion page. Please don't forget the edit summaries when you make changes: these help other editors follow what you're doing. --Old Moonraker (talk) 17:28, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits on Talk:Bal Thackeray

Hi, Apologise for the delay in replying[1]. I understand that you may be upset that I reverted your edit [2] but you should understand why. Controversial people such as Bal Thackeray have their set of followers as well as detractors who will battle over them on many internet forums and chat-rooms. Wikipedia talk pages are not meant for this task, they are only meant to discuss about improvements to the article, not generall chatter about the subject. It would do well if you read the talk page guidlines. While your post was not worse than the posts you were replying to , it still wasn't within the guidlines. Apart from that, you had replied on a very old (and useless) topic which would unwittngly encourage other casual readers to "join in" on the discussion so I had to remove it. I did not remove the previous messages was because there is no rule which allows a "cleanup"(sort of censorship) of talk pages. Generally, old messages such as these are not deleted even if they are useless; they are usually kept. Anyway they will remain in the page's history even if they are deleted so no point in removing them anyway. The appropriate way to deal with closed discussions such as this would be to archive them not delete them.

Hope you take it in the right spirit. --Deepak D'Souza (talk) 10:30, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
