Developing your user page - it is easy

Wikipedia is a megalopolis and like in any city, interactions are very important. I recommend that you develop your user page so that people who visit your page may know your interests and share in them. It could be a single line telling others of not only your name but what you like or a complex page with every single thing that interests you on it. This is a great way of building up work groups that facilitate the sharing of expert knowledge on articles, talks etc. Happy building!!! . Crosstemplejay talk .13:12, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Become a great editor through your first was erroneous

Being a member of the welcoming committee on Wikipedia I encourage you to help Wikipedia in any way you can to increase human knowledge. If you have credible information about a topic with verifiable references please feel free to add to that topic. If there is no article on that topic, why not start it, with time others will add to it and it may even make the featured articles list. By doing this, I have been able to make over 3500 page edits in both new articles, article improvement etc. Furthermore, I encourage you to aim to be a member of the autoconfirmed users [[1]] group as this will greatly improve your Wikipedia experience. You can do this by making at least 10 credible edits on Wikipedia and remaining on Wikipedia for four (4) days. Check out this page for tips. . Adding media to articles_

Media files, be it images, drawings or sound files are an integral part of Wikipedia's articles. They apart from enriching articles, make them more credible too. You can add media files to both your new articles as well as once you are editing. To do so you can search for it on wikipedia:commons or you can either upload the image if you have it using this file uploader or [commons uploader]. Please be informed that you must provide accurate information about the file being uploaded since they are reviewed and if if is found that the license given to the file is false, it will promptly be deleted. . Spotting bad edits and vandalism.

As you age on Wikipedia, one thing you will come across and probably address will the issue of bad edits or vandalism. There are several ways of spotting them:

  • by reviewing articles on your watchlist regularly and looking for bad edits
  • verifying new changes to pages and articles

If you happen to come across a bad edit you may:

  • ask an editor you trust to review the work for his/her inputs
  • you can rollback the change if you have credible information that the edit is indeed bad
  • request that the necessary change be made on the article's talk page.

Whatever you do, please be very careful about the changes you make, for a rule of thumb, discuss issues you are not sure of first before making changes. . Crosstemplejay talk .13:12, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Stub templates

I see you have added stub notes to a few articles by hand. It's probably better to use stub templates, which makes sure they are appropriately categorised. Keep up the good work. Grafen (talk) 14:34, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 11:06, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

May 2011

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. In your recent edit to Monochaetia mali, you added links to an article which did not add content or meaning, or repeated the same link several times throughout the article. Please see Wikipedia's guideline on links to avoid overlinking. Thank you. Crazymonkey1123 (Jacob) T or M/Sign mine 04:50, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I do not see anything inherently wrong with Tashif's addition of wikilinks in the article, so I am advising him to re-add the links. Please do not revert again without citing policy. Logan Talk Contributions 05:43, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

AFC

Nice to see you working at AFC, however I noticed you haven't informed the authors after the article has been reviewed. On the article's review notice there is a link to click to inform the creator, all that needs to be done is to put in the article title. The template takes care of the rest. I am sure the article's author would really appreciate knowing the status of their article. Keep up the good work, France3470 (talk) 05:58, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Articles for Creation and declines...

Hey, I know you're kind of new around WIkipedia, but I noticed some issues with a few of your recent AfC declines and I thought you'd want to know about them.

  • I think when you decline an article at AfC please check to make sure the creator has a Welcome on their talkpage. When you declined this AfC the editor hadn't gotten a Welcome yet.
  • Also, you declined this AfC saying that there were no inline citations. This in incorrect....there were inline citations but the references were malformed, as shown by this link to the page at the time you declined it here. All the article needed to take care of the inline citations was a 'reflist' (as shown here).

Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 16:27, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cat:Dab

Re: Category:Disambiguation (Cat:Dab)
Your recent placements of the Cat (on Sechin (disambiguation), Shuangfeng, & Class 110) are mistaken, and i am about to replace them with {{Disambig}}. You'll note that besides creating the standard Dab-page footer, the template also puts the page in the correct category (Category:Disambiguation pages), instead of the "obvious" Cat which in fact is appropriate only on a few dozen pages -- none of them being main-namespace pages.
Let me add to your welcome yous, and thank you for your attention to the area of disambiguation. Happy editing!

Deletion of 'make mine Milk'

Hi Tashif,

Thanks for your welcome and for getting back to me about the 'make mine Milk' article.

I just wanted to know whether you could help and let me know what I need to add to the article to make it more notable? Please could you let me know if the following would help:

- Include statistics about results in sales of milk - Add link to 'make mine Milk' being used as a case study at university - Wait for another six months to gain more notability

If there is anything else that can be added/ removed, please advise as I am quite new to this!

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Many thanks for your help.

Misunderstanding?

Hi Tashif,

I'm the main author of the article on Moroccan journalist Ahmed Benchemsi. I see that you added a "need references" box on top of it, quoting "this article does not cite any references or sources". We might have a misunderstanding here: I counted 38 outside links! The article is filled with references from reliable sources, websites that published either Benchemsi's writings (from his own magazines to world-famous outlets such as Time or The Guardian) or reports/comments on his endeavors (as well published in trustable sources). Am I missing something?

Best regards, Randomeditor38 (talk) 17:47, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Update: no news from you since 2 days. I undid your editing, but remain ready to discuss it if you still hold unto it for some reason, despite my remarks above.

I've closed this as "delete" but for future reference there's no need to take copyvios to AFD. Just tag them with {{db-g12|url=www.example.com}} replacing www.example.com with the source URL. --Ron Ritzman (talk) 00:19, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Awards will be given out for all reviewers participating in the drive in the form of barnstars at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 2500 articles, so start reviewing articles! Visit the drive's page and help out!

The AfC helper script can assist you in tallying your edits automatically. To view a full list of changes, visit the changelog. Please report bugs and feature requests there, too! Thanks. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. RC Patrol-related Proposals in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey

Greetings Recent Changes Patrollers!

This is a one-time-only message to inform you about technical proposals related to Recent Changes Patrol in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey that I think you may be interested in reviewing and perhaps even voting for:

  1. Adjust number of entries and days at Last unpatrolled
  2. Editor-focused central editing dashboard
  3. "Hide trusted users" checkbox option on watchlists and related/recent changes (RC) pages
  4. Real-Time Recent Changes App for Android
  5. Shortcut for patrollers to last changes list

Further, there are more than 20 proposals related to Watchlists in general that you may be interested in reviewing. (and over 260 proposals in all, across many aspects of wikis)

Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.

Note: You received this message because you have transcluded {{User wikipedia/RC Patrol}} (user box) on your user page. Since this message is "one-time-only" there is no opt out for future mailings.
