Review for "Marine Botany" page additions
Hi Swampgal, good work adding information about Marine Botany to Wikipedia! You’ve made a big contribution to this page by adding lots of information to fill out what was previously a list of links. I have some comments and suggestions to help you improve your contributions to the Marine Botany page that I’m basing off of the version at this link.
General comments
- You’ve made really good use of the “nested subsections” feature to make sure that your information is clearly organized.
- Your page is also written in the third person and with an appropriate tone.
- Wherever possible, add in links to other Wikipedia pages to improve cross-referencing (like the links that have been added in the lead section of your page). For example, each time a Kingdom (or other taxonomic classification) is mentioned, you could insert a link to the appropriate Wikipedia page. There are a number of places throughout your page where these type of links could be added. In some cases, this might allow you to streamline your text a bit because you’re pointing your reader to a page that contains more detail.
- Paraphrase quotes in your own words rather than inserting direct quotes in quotation marks (for example, the first sentence under the heading “Eubacteria”).
More specific comments
- The section directly under “Marine Plant Classifications” (where the five kingdoms are discussed) is confusing. I would recommend adding some text that explicitly describes the criteria that were used to include different organisms in this Wikipedia page on marine botany. The inclusion of marine members of the Plantae kingdom would probably be obvious to most readers, but the reasons why members of the Monera and Protist kingdoms were included are probably not obvious right away. A few sentences that explain why this set of organisms were all included would be very helpful (e.g., they photosynthesize, etc.)
- In the list in the section on “Kingdom Protist”, remove the capitalization on anything other than the first word.
- The final sentence in the section on “Kingdom Plantae” needs some more information (just a few words or a sentence) to explain how seagrasses help to determine the state of an ecosystem.
