Image of Russian writer Aleksandr Rekemchuk

Hello Sumanuil, I note you justifiably removed the jpg. file from the article on Tamara Tchinarova. I was hoping someone would know how to translate a Russian jpg. file into Latin script. The file exists in Russian but my attempts to import it from Alexandr Rekemchuk [ru], have failed. Would you know how to do this, please? --Po Mieczu (talk) 14:27, 3 January 2022 (UTC)

Depending on the copyright status, you might be able to transfer it to commons, but it looks like that file is non-free, so you should probably seek an alternative one. Regardless, the file name would not necessarily need to be translated. Commons can handle file names in many alphabets. Sumanuil 23:46, 3 January 2022 (UTC)

Nice work on tidying up this article. I added some taxonomy stuff. Hope I didn't cause you any edit conflicts. Best Regards and happy editing. Hughesdarren (talk) 08:35, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

Hi, in my opinion File:OSM of Hampton, Florida.png has a higher quality than File:Map of Hampton, Florida.jpg, and is also not from a questionable source. Would you care to revert your revert? --Enyavar (talk) 22:13, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

It wasn't there at all when I reverted, so why would resolution come into it? Sumanuil 22:41, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
So you didn't see the editing-conflict when you rolled back to the previous version? Just want to make sure you don't regard my next revert there as an edit-war. Thanks --Enyavar (talk) 00:54, 2 February 2022 (UTC)

Now that it exists on Wikipedia, I no longer care. I only removed it because it didn't, per the gigantic notice at the top of this talk page. Sumanuil 00:59, 2 February 2022 (UTC)

Ezhava

Hi, thanks for your recent edits to ezhava.

Can you please look the edit request on Ezhava talk page? 2601:14D:8701:9E40:A93D:29FA:D087:2609 (talk) 12:54, 5 February 2022 (UTC)

I'm not going to go behind their backs. Being told "no" and then asking someone else who didn't hear the "no" is childish. Sumanuil 23:35, 5 February 2022 (UTC)

Former state routes in Missouri

I figured adding new shields onto that area of the page would be OK the problem that I'm having though is that I don't have the complete number of shields for all routes and I was wondering if someone may be able to make some for me 38.103.204.42 (talk) 19:52, 13 February 2022 (UTC)

If you need missing shields, ask for them at Wikipedia:USRD/S/R. I probably should have just directed you there in the first place. Sumanuil 20:47, 13 February 2022 (UTC)

Ok thank you for your help. 38.103.204.42 (talk), 13 February 2022 (UTC)

Erroneous edits

You went back and changed the edits I did to my personal Wikipedia page. Please remove the photo you added back as well as the incorrect information you put back on after I corrected my fight team. Thank you, Kaitlin Young (kaitlinrosie) Kaitlinrosie (talk) 04:27, 23 February 2022 (UTC)

There is no such thing as as a "personal wikipedia page". There is such a thing as a conflict of interest, however. And I'm not the one who removed a file extension rather than the actual file. Sumanuil 04:34, 23 February 2022 (UTC)

Hi, I saw you reverted my changes to Philip J. Fahy Memorial Bridge. I saw the banner on your user talk page so I assume that's why. I am by no means a Wikipedia expert, I was just trying to fix an incorrectly spelled name; I found the process to be VERY unintuitive and complicated, so I apologize if I messed something up. Instead of reverting my edits, could you please help me learn to do it the right way? Thank you. Tombob51 (talk) 14:34, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

Just go slowly, double-check your edits, and you'll be fine. Maybe don't move any more articles just yet, though. Sumanuil. 19:02, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

Thanks

for fixing my file link breakage. I didn't mean to keep you busy; I was going through fixing them with JWB concurrently, as soon as I saw your first one. Is there a good way to find these? Like a page you monitor for notifications? Why don't I get notified when I create file redlinks? Maybe a feature worth requesting. Dicklyon (talk) 00:52, 4 April 2022 (UTC)

I have requested it before at WP:EF/R, but got turned down because there's a filter like that, but limited to new users. Why, I have no idea. Sumanuil. 00:57, 4 April 2022 (UTC)
I was a bit over-zealous and not careful enough with fixing the 276 links mentioned in the biggest item at Wikipedia:Database reports/Linked misspellings (which will disappear shortly, since I fixed it, and then some). I'll request that again at VPT. Dicklyon (talk) 01:00, 4 April 2022 (UTC)
When I'm doing hundreds (or thousands as I've done in recent weeks), I go quickly, just glancing at the diffs in JWB while tapping away on the Save button. Going slowly is not compatible with getting the job done. But usually I'll notice a file edit, stop and adjust my JWB replace patterns, and go back and fix the errors. This time I didn't notice.
See WP:VPR##Proposal: issue a notice when an edit creates a File: redlink. Dicklyon (talk) 01:14, 4 April 2022 (UTC)

Eurovision articles being restored

Hi Sumanuil. I understand you were probably alerted to several Eurovision articles being restored by BabbaQ because of the deleted files. But you know redirects should never be edit warred over to retain—take it to AfD if you disagree. As stated in my reverts, the original editors have now said based on several editors disagreeing (including myself, BabbaQ, Nascar9919, and the editors who think Eurovision articles are notable at the AfD discussions) and the results of 20 AfDs that there no longer is a consensus. Please see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eurovision#A discussion with three editors is not carte blanche to redirect every stub Eurovision song article, as well as User talk:Sims2aholic8#Stop redirecting every Eurovision song article that is a stub. You're kinda wading into something that's already been going on here and an admin (Sergecross73, who has said they will step in if they go further) has already been alerted to. Three editors saying "yes, some stubs should be redirected" in the original discussion was never carte blanche for one editor to redirect most of them, and even telling somebody they "should read" the linked discussion (which wasn't even properly linked, by the way), I struggle to see who'd see a short section like this and think it justifies months worth of redirecting articles. Thanks. Ss112 12:44, 4 April 2022 (UTC)

I'll stick to removing the nonexistent files, which is what really drew me into this. Sumanuil. 23:38, 4 April 2022 (UTC)

Hi, I can't see this surviving Afd, especially with no refs. Bear this in mind before spending too much time on it. It duplicates several better articles we already have, & uses the wrong terminology all the time. Johnbod (talk) 04:36, 27 April 2022 (UTC)

I thought so myself, but I had nothing better to do than clean it up a bit. Sumanuil. 05:27, 27 April 2022 (UTC)

Right! Johnbod (talk) 00:48, 29 April 2022 (UTC)

Templates when reverting

Hey there! I noticed you're already a well-established and experienced editor so I won't bother or bore you with the standard (warning/notice) templates but you reverted someone's edits at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium without notifying/warning the contributor for disruptive editing or vandalism. Thought I'd let you know, just in case you didn't know you should (not trying to assume either way) Amadeus22 🙋 🔔 20:26, 7 May 2022 (UTC)

I don't bother warning IP editors about vandalism any more. They either can't see it or won't listen anyway. But I'll try this once. Sumanuil. 22:05, 7 May 2022 (UTC)

Well the reason isn't just so they see it or listen. It's also to build a 'record' that's easily visible by other maintainers and also administrators, so that people are given the appropriate amount and degree (which influences wording of the notice) of warnings/notices and so that admin action can be taken when needed. Amadeus22 🙋 🔔 22:14, 7 May 2022 (UTC)

Good point. I'll try to issue warnings more consistently. Sumanuil. 22:17, 7 May 2022 (UTC)

Not sure what you mean misleading info! She’s my wife and I was trying to upload a photo of her!!!!!! 47.229.249.86 (talk) 18:41, 26 May 2022 (UTC)

But you didn't upload an image, yet said you did. Oh, and that's a conflict of interest. Which is not a good thing. Sumanuil. 19:20, 26 May 2022 (UTC)

Sahara One

Can you provide a source saying that Sahara One has been bought by BBC Network India, and that the channel has been renamed to BBC One India? As my findings came up short, with the original user who edited and moved the article did not add any reliable source to back their own actions. -- AxG /   04:29, 14 June 2022 (UTC)

That's not the problem. The problem is that you didn't explain the move and replaced every instance of "BBC One India" in the article with "Sahara One", including in file names. Sumanuil. 05:47, 14 June 2022 (UTC)

I've searched and searched, and I can't find sources either. You just need to explain things better. Page moves are more drastic than regular edits and need to be clearly explained every time. Just "Sahara One" is not enough. Sumanuil. 08:18, 14 June 2022 (UTC)

I'm aware of the malformed edit summaries and I apologise, however a glance of the page history and a search for a reliable source would show that the initial page move to BBC One India was unsourced and should be moved back to Sahara One. -- AxG /   09:03, 14 June 2022 (UTC)

Ok, then feel free to do so. Just don't add any non-existent files and we're good. Sumanuil. 09:05, 14 June 2022 (UTC)

Re: Amygdalin

Hi. I read your note on top but this doesn't apply here regarding reversing my edit as there's no broken file link. Anyway, you noted that said trivia was at the top of the page as per your comment "Does this really need to be right at the top" but this doesn't make sense as it was at the bottom of the article as it should be. The only difference I see is that it could be under popular culture such as the page Tick paralysis but this wouldn't fall under a reverse edit. I'd prefer not to get into an edit war here but if there's no justification, I don't see a reason not to re-add it under Popular Culture. KoRoBeNiKi Medical Coder, chess specialist, retired SSBWiki rollback, hi? 20:30, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

It wasn't at the top, really, but it was the second section, which seemed weird. Most articles don't have a trivia section, but when they're included, it's usually at the very end of the article. Sumanuil. 21:04, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

Flat earth edit

I removed that “never the less” thing because it makes it sound like people back then had any idea that it would be scientifically disproven. I know the second paragraph expands on it but it still seems confusing to imply that people had any idea when they believed that theory. Just thought I’d explain my self. Eg224 (talk) 06:28, 27 August 2022 (UTC)

Ok, I just thought it sounded odd without it. Sumanuil. 04:53, 28 August 2022 (UTC)

I disagree with your CSD as well- not sure why an article from The Guardian wouldn't meet Wikipedia:Credible claim of significance? If there is no evident claim of significance in the article, check the references provided within the article (which is the second way that is listed in the section above). If the references within the article discuss the subject or provide a possible claim of significance, then the A7, A9 and A11 tags should not be applied. VickKiang (talk) 23:38, 10 October 2022 (UTC)

Ok, it just seemed like another "hey look at my business' article. I'm still not sure it merits an article, though. Sumanuil. 23:43, 10 October 2022 (UTC)

It might not be notable, but notability isn't the same as a credible claim of significance. Per the essay, Significance is a lower standard than notability. Most of the refs lean on the shorter side but CSD A7 should be for obvious cases with no credible claim of significance at all, if there is a RS like The Guardian, A7 doesn't apply IMHO. VickKiang (talk) 23:45, 10 October 2022 (UTC)

John Schnierle

Ok, sorry. I am a new user and made some edits, for this article on a deceased person, based on family records. I am a direct descendant. I wanted to use images of the family records but I saw no way to cite them, since I am a new user and cannot post images until 10 (?) edits. I will try to find images of these (government) records on a genealogy site and cite those. Or is there a better way to cite information regarding somewhat obscure deceased persons? In that case, please read Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy, and note that Wikipedia cannot display external images directly. Sumanuil. 19:39, 19 October 2022 (UTC)

Thank you!

Hello, Sumanuil,

Thank you for removing those deleted file references from those Kate Bush song articles. With most of our file and page deletions, the deletion software removes all mentions of the file or page after it is deleted but for some reason, that tool doesn't work with .ogg files which have to be removed through manual edits to the article. I was coming back to take care of that and I saw you already had! Thank you very much! You must have those articles on your Watchlist. Liz Read! Talk! 22:27, 10 November 2022 (UTC)

Actually, I don't. I just check Category:Articles with missing files several times a day.Sumanuil. (talk to me) 22:41, 10 November 2022 (UTC)

Template:Vietnam road banner

Yes, I read the big red box. Could you tell me which pages had missing files so I can make the files? I found six files earlier tonight. I'd like to get this template converted to Template:Jct so its uses will be MOS:ICON compliant. –Fredddie 05:34, 14 November 2022 (UTC)

Provided you don't have them already, signs for QL 239, TL 534, TL 538, TL 27D, and TL 496 appear to be missing. There are probably others, but there are a lot of Vietnamese highways that don't currently have their own articles.Sumanuil. (talk to me) 21:36, 14 November 2022 (UTC)

Only CT and QL generate shields in Jct at present. It is possible to add an ifexist for the other route types. –Fredddie 23:49, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
