Canvassing

Hi Strangnet, yes you're right that its canvassing. However I'm inclined to let that slip by: I don't think we'd achieve anything by further confronting the user at this point. She seems to have got the message that she can't continue to edit war in the article, and I am hopeful that the AfD will reach a sensible conclusion. Thanks, Gwernol 14:42, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Informing her that canvassing generally isn't considered good practice might be appropriate - she might not know since it looked more like an attempt in desperation than actual bad faith on her part. --Strangnet (t, c) 14:45, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That might be a good idea. An gentle, informative comment on her talk page might be helpful. If you want to do that, I wouldn't object. Gwernol 14:48, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

V-Ray

Hi there, Strangnet - I noticed that recently you helped maintain the page V-Ray. I just did a major reworking of this page and am also kind of new, so I'm not sure what the procedure is now. Is it OK now? Am I allowed to take off the "clean up" message? Elena the Quiet 07:33, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Elenathequiet[reply]

Sounds weird. Have you tried restarting the browser or even the computer? Sometimes these things happen for no apparent reason. --Strangnet (t, c) 21:10, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

--Strangnet (talk) 23:57, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Limnor

Hi,

I need some objective views on the Limnor article. Please see the talk and history pages: User:ESOK has a different opinion than I do about what should and what should not be on a computer language page.

Thanks, --Slashme (talk) 09:00, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Need explanation

Hello user Strangnet

Regarding to this: "Reverted 1 edit by 86.34.48.187 identified as vandalism to last revision by Strangnet." in en.wikipedia.org/Copenhagen

Please explain your action based relative to Wikipedia's interpretation on vandalism. In my opinion you are mistaken. I expect you will convince me you're not. Otherwise I will consider your action an abuse and will report it accordingly.

Thank you, no user —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.34.48.51 (talk) 07:30, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia's articles are not meant to be collections of links. If you see the template I added to the user in question (you?), you'll see more information. The same link has been inserted in the article on the Swedish language Wikipedia, where I am an administrator and spend most of my time, which make it crosswiki spamming. Three IP:s from Romania have so far added the link, so I would bring it up for a diskussion before adding it again. --Strangnet (talk) 11:49, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the explanation about the real reason for removing the link. "Vandalism", as you called it in the first place, has nothing to do with it, as we can see. This site isn't for advertising/promotion nor is it a simple collection of links. I already knew about the use of the nofollow tags in wiki and I have no interest whatsoever in the institutions administrating the web pages using the URLs I offered as a resource for people to use. I visited Copenhagen as a tourist two years ago and I personally visited most of the sights/attractions presented in the site. More, around 80% of the photos used in the site are original ones that I shoot personally. Yes the site is mine and yes I read the conflict of interest page.

Sorry for the crosswiki spamming.

Considering the above, please be more explicit about what do I need to change in the site so that It will meet your set of criteria for posting.

Thank you! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.34.48.179 (talk) 14:05, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you're the one behind the web page that was linked, then you definitely should not promote your site here. It is a clear conflict of interest. If your site is relevant and useful, others might find it is useful for inclusion in Wikipedia articles' external links - it's not recommended that you make that decision, since you're clearly biased. Since your site is not officially affiliated with Copenhagen it's probably not worth mentioning in the article in the first place. If visitors are looking for images of copenhagen, then flickr or panoramio are much better sources as they have huge amounts of material on the subject. --Strangnet (talk) 15:53, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Varför har du inte varit på svenska wikipedia den senaste tiden.--90.225.104.54 (talk) 20:59, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
