Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, SliStudios. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Draft:Swedroe Architecture, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. GPL93 (talk) 19:40, 7 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Draft:Swedroe Architecture, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. January 2020

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 17:01, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Updated Draft which was apparently overlooked (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:SliStudios/sandbox) –– 1. I noted the COI as required. 2. The entire page is modeled to look and read just like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oppenheim_Architecture. 3. The page was written unbiased and factual based on EXISTING citations and references. Please to better to explain why a page written to mimic an existing/approved Wiki page is being blocked. 4. I asked for someone else to take-over and to provide suggestions on how to better write the page; why not help rather than be so quick to eliminate information on a company that has been around for 46 years!?

Decline reason:

Your disclosure on your user page would suggest that this account is in violation of our policy against shared accounts (see WP:NOSHARING). That alone is a justification for blocking your account. Please follow the instructions in the second paragraph of the block notification to request a different username and make a proper appeal. The reason for not accepting the submitted article is unrelated; it falls short of Wikipedia's notability guideline for companies and organizations. signed, Rosguill talk 22:29, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Sources and other things

The Draft had none. I see you sourced the sandbox. Alas, it too is highly promotional in tone. We will see how things go from here. I will leave both for review by a different admin. Please read and heed WP:COI and WP:PAID. You also need a user name that complies with WP:user name. I would be happy to rename you if you ping me by placing {{ping|Deepfriedokra}} in your request and sign with 4 ~'s. Thanks, -- Deepfriedokra 22:22, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Apology

My apologies to everyone involved in this mess. I have 'jumped-the-gun' with my submission and did not mean to ruffle any feathers.

I will not attempt to publish any further articles, but I do have questions which should help me better understand this communicative arena:

  • How can informative articles be written about a subject if the author does not have first-hand information about that subject?
  • Who decides when a person or company obtains 'Notoriety'?

@Deepfriedokra:, if you could be so inclined, please change my username to FluffKidsinFlorida (if that is acceptable)

@Robert McClenon:, I'll be sure to check-out the Teahouse; even if I no longer write, at least I can learn more about the Wikipedia ecosystem. Thank you.
