Sermon on the Mount

Dear SimonP, I noticed that you made a separate article for every verse of the Sermon on the Mount, e.g. Matthew 5:29. Would you mind if I categorize these verses into Category:Verses of Matthew 5, Category:Verses of Matthew 6, Category:Verses of Matthew 7 and move the separate parent category assignment of the verses to these three new categories? If we do it like this, it becomes a lot easier to assign new parent categories in the future. Marcocapelle (talk) 12:16, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Biassed wikipedia pages

Hello Simon I write to you because your name was provided in one of the offending wiki campaign pages, as a Wikipedia expert. I do not completely understand creating or editing Wikipedia and am volunteering for one of the TO mayoral candidates. I noticed a very biassed Wikipedia article, 'SmartTrack', which portrays an unstudied campaign plank as an approved line that 'will' be operating in 7 years. Looking through its history I found it was written by 'Nazir Mazin', who also wrote the 'John Tory Mayoral Campaign' wikipedia page, which was 100% positive. I decided to look up the 'Olivia Chow Mayoral Campaign' website, and found it was 100% negative, 'tax and spend socialist' etc..' It appears to be written by KingJeff, who also created or added to the other campaign websites. I would like Wikipedia to offer more objective content or eliminate biassed and incorrect content. Roger Brook Toronto 70.29.58.164 (talk) 06:05, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

I have nominated SmartTrack for deletion. Johnny Au (talk/contributions) 21:46, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Triad (sociology)

The article Triad (sociology) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Seems to be built entirely on WP:OR. If there's an article to be had here, WP:TNT could clear the way.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Clark High School

On 17 February 2006‎, you created Clarke High School as a redirect to the then-and-now redlinked Clarke High School (Maine). Clarke High School became a disambiguation, and today I removed the link to Clarke High School (Maine) because I believe this school does not exist. My theory is that the Clarke High School, actually located in Newcastle, Ontario, but sometimes listed for neighboring Orono, Ontario, got confused with a nonexistent school in Orono, Maine. List of high schools in Maine does not list any Clarke. If you know of a Clarke High School in Maine, please add it to both Clarke High School and List of high schools in Maine. —Anomalocaris (talk) 01:18, 1 March 2016 (UTC)

File source problem with File:CFA map.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:CFA map.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Also:

ATTENTION: This is an automated, BOT-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate your file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:PulsiferLargerWiki.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:PulsiferLargerWiki.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

ATTENTION: This is an automated, BOT-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate your file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protection

Hello, SimonP. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.

Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.

In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:

  • Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
  • A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.

Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:49, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins

Hello,

Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user right for New Page Patrollers

Hi SimonP.

A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.

It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.

If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

File:Last best west.jpg needs authorship information

Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:Last best west.jpg appears to be missing information as to one (or more) of the following :

  1. The author or creators of the work, (including information as to the author's lifespan).
  2. Where and how this particular version was obtained.
  3. When the work was created,

If you did provide such information, it is currently confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which: {{subst:usernameexpand|SimonP/Archive 11}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.

Please also add authorship and sourcing to other files you created or uplopaded. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions please see Help:File page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 21:57, 24 February 2017 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Cricket at the Summer Olympics

Hello, SimonP,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Cricket at the Summer Olympics should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cricket at the Summer Olympics .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks,

The article ACCM has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Subject isn't notable. While ACCM is a publisher of Anglican thought, it is not the subject of any independent material I could find. Many of the sources I could find (including the one live link provided in the article) only briefly mention the subject; therefore, the subject fails WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of Amero

Hello SimonP,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Amero for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.
