Before casting aspersions

…please, do your homework. You are savvy enough to count my edits (which even I do not), you are bold enough to click on User Talk Edit to leave me a snide message; be respectful and considerate enough to read about the unique Wikipedia retirement announcement that appears on my User page, with which you are unfamiliar . If you go to the appropriate help page, associated with that announcement, you will find that it is perfectly in keeping with what I am doing to prepare for my departure. (And if you look closely at the talk page you edited, it actually says, "Preparing for departure." (Otherwise, those that deserve knowing more, already have further explanation. So a gentle answer turns aware wrath, eh. Well, okay, thank you. Note, in re: your comments, it was not I who created a trove of clever visuals to imbue this place with personality and meaning. You will find no other evidence of them in my work—no clever color or position changes to my name, no Barnstars accepted or created to give, etc. It is only appropriate (adj.), that I appropriate (v.) one such clever, relevant case, even if infamous, to mark my departing. For if only it were truly about the the real value of the words here! (It was your counting my edits that set me off.) Catholic Church change

Hi Shenme,

I thought my changes were relatively minor and I certainly didn't intend to "thumb my nose" at anyone as you suggest.

To answer your two questions:

1. "members" is more neutral than "believers" because the first is quantifiable by the number of baptisms; the second is not because we have no way of knowing how many baptised Catholics are still "believers" in the faith they were baptised into.

2. the number in my mind gives the reader an idea of the size of the Church. We could say "more than 1.2 billion" or be more more precise and say "1.214 billion" but it's not necessary I think to say both, ie. "more than 1.214 billion".

The edit that you are questioning me about was over 6 years ago and I don't have access to the source. Maybe your local library has the source, since I got my copy of it from my local library. I guess some people don't want others to have freedom to practice a different faith.
