Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

Thanks for the message. The issue with references is that in order to verify the notability (Wikipedia's key inclusion criterion) of the subject, the article must have citations to reliable sources. These are usually press coverage etc. Self-references are OK for basic factual stuff, but not for notability. The peacock terms issue is really a question of tone and related to the promotional tone issue, so if you deal with the later, it should also deal with the former.
