Welcome to Harriet Jacobs !
Once again a heartfelt welcome to Wikipedia ! I saw you have been assigned the article on Harriet Jacobs. Since I was doing some work at the article a few months ago, let me say that I'm happy that someone shows interest in improving it. The best experience about Wikipedia is the exchange of ideas with people from all over the world working on a common goal (I, for example, might seem a quite unlikely fan of Jacobs, being male, white and German). I am also quite happy if someone improves my English, since I'm not a native speaker.
I hope the next part of my message is not discouraging for you: I reverted most (but not all) of your edits. First, there is a rule in Wikipedia, that headlines are in sentence case (somewhere in the style manual - nobody is able to know all that rules by heart). Second, there are some minor factual errors: "Reconstruction" is the name commonly used for the period after the Civil War in the South, so it is not "Reconstruction work". Then, Elijah Jacobs didn't enjoy his privileges until his death. If you want to read a story that makes you really hate the institution of slavery, read his son's account of his last years ("A True Tale of Slavery", the link is in the article). Finally, your synthesis of most slaves' illiteracy with the North Carolina regulation of 1830 is called "original research" (OR), because you didn't quote any researcher for that specific synthesis.
I think the task you have been assigned is quite challenging, since most of your fellow students have been assigned articles that have an assessment as "start-class", while "Harriet Jacobs" is "B". --Rsk6400 (talk) 05:47, 16 April 2020 (UTC)
I saw that you also changed the structure of sections, changing sub-sections into sections. I also reverted that, since I think it is more logical that also her later life is told under the headline "Biography".

Another idea: All the sources I used for the article are more than 15 years old. It might be rewarding to search for more recent sources, probably articles in scholarly journals. JSTOR normally is a good place to find such articles. They offer free accounts for "indepedent researchers", which allow you to read 6 articles per month online for free. But thanks to Corona, currently they allow you to read 100 (one hundred !) articles per month for free. Rsk6400 (talk) 17:31, 27 April 2020 (UTC)
