Information icon Hello, I'm Binksternet. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Spike (musician), but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Binksternet (talk) 00:49, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, Sammyjay0958. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page The Quireboys, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Tacyarg (talk) 20:08, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I am soupy imparting facts in my edit. This page has been edited by someone not associated with the Band/company who has imparted opinion not fact as can be seen from this quote from the current page, “ The Hireboys continued their 2022 touring schedule including dates in the US which included half empty pool halls and dive bars which were totally empty when people discovered there was no singer,[4] and Spain in December.[5]” These are simple untruths. I am correcting these in conjunction with the owners of the title name of this page. I hope this will be approved as any misinformation will count as deformation of character on behalf of the current members of “The Quireboys”, who are as in my edit, not what was edited recently. If you would like to compare this with the page before it was previously edited you will see that there is a definite correlation. Many thanks. Sammyjay0958 (talk) 23:13, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please be aware that the subject of a Wikipedia article has no right of ownership or editorial control over its contents. Any Wikipedia user can edit any article at any time, and we assume users act in good faith unless there is clear evidence to the contrary.
Uncontroversial edits, like reverting obvious vandalism or removing material that is blatantly libellous, can be performed without discussion. Otherwise, a user with a conflict of interest (ie. personal or professional affiliation with the subject) should raise content disputes on the article's talk page in the form of an edit request. If that does not resolve the disagreement, further dispute resolution measures can be employed.
In addition, your edit summary here implies that you might or will pursue legal action against Wikipedia and its users if they don't act in accordance with your wishes. This could be interpreted as a legal threat, which is explicitly disallowed and can result in your account being blocked. I advise that you retract this statement or administrators may impose sanctions. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 22:27, 16 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You need to explicitly state that you are not contemplating or threatening legal action of any kind, before you make any more edits to this or related articles. This is not optional. --Orange Mike | Talk 02:02, 21 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident with which you may be involved. Thank you. Tacyarg (talk) 08:46, 16 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

As it was mentioned there, Sammyjay0958, Wikipedia prohibits making legal threats. If you state or intone that any editor here risks legal action, you will be immediately blocked from editing. Perhaps you have the wrong idea about what the law allows or you like making empty threats. Please desist. Chris Troutman (talk) 20:07, 18 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
