Your username

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "SMShowProducer", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because usernames which imply they represents a specific organization, group, or in this case a TV show such as The Stephanie Miller Show are not allowed per WP:ORGNAME. In addition, usernames which imply they might be being shared by multiple people or represent posts within associated with the aforementioned TV show are not allowed per WP:ISU. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing this form, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:58, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I am a producer with the show. Happy to change the name, but I'm also happy to verify I'm with the company and being asked by the personality to upkeep our wiki page. Is there a way I can send you a direct company email with my contact info for verification? SMShowProducer (talk) 03:02, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Someone is heavily deleting information off our page and I need help to either report the user or figure out how to undo the erasure of information. Please help. SMShowProducer (talk) 03:06, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Being the show's producer does not give you any ownership rights over the content in the article as explained in Wikipedia:Ownership of content. Wikpedia articles are not "our page" or "my page"; they are encyclopedic article written in accordance with Wikipedia's various policies and guidelines and Wikipedia:Five pillars. I strongly suggest you carefully read Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide before deciding to edit the article; if mistakes need to corrected, there's a proper way to go about requesting them.
In addition, I also strongly suggest you read Wikipedia:Sock puppetry for reference as well just so you understand Wikipedia's position on such things. Whether this applies to you, only you know for sure, but be advised that suspicious editing/accounts may be looked into to make sure nothing appropriate is taking place. -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:14, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"May be looked into". Real helpful. You guys have made this process beyond complicated. Your tone is unprofessional and unnecessary. If there is false information on a page about a real person and public personality that can be detertmental a person has a right to make an edit. SMShowProducer (talk) 03:23, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You can ask for assistance at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard if the article contains false information. If the information is defamatory or libelous, you can remove it yourself as explianed in WP:COIADVICE or WP:BIOSELF, but please make sure you leave a clearly worded edit sum explaining why (paricularly helpful would be citing the relevant Wikpedia guideline or policy which believe necessitates the content's removal. You should then post something at the BLP noticeboard because serious viloations of Wikipedia policy may a revision deletion be made by an adminstrator. Really serious violations should also be reported to Wikipedia oversight because further steps beyond revision deletion may be needed.
If you would like other changes/tweaks made to the article that do not fall under the category of removing defamatory/libelous content, I advise you to start a discussion on the article's talk page to see if you can establish a consensus. If you're not sure how to do that, please take a look at Help:Talk pages. Please do not engage in edit warring even if you are certain you are right because that's just not how Wikipedia works and it is something new editors often do not understand. Content disputes are best resolved through discussion. Just explain why you feel something should be added/changed and which policies/guidelines support such a change. Good luck to you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:13, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Or you can simply make an edit request using {{Request edit}} on the talk page. - FlightTime (open channel) 04:31, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia with this username. This is because your username, SMShowProducer, does not meet our username policy.
Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below) and continue editing.
A username should not be promotional, appear to represent a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account. However, you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".
You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "Email this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you think that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this notice, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. TheSandDoctor Talk 17:59, 2 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
