Magee and High Flight

Hi - I saw on the Magee discussion page that you put a link to the ms version of High Flight - but not in to the article itself. So I added it - and then I checked out the rest of your website and added that too as I thought it was so interesting and ought to be available to readers of the article who might not make it to the discussion page. I also changed Magee's nationality to American-British, as he had one of each as parents! Cheers 86.136.195.43 13:04, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Why was image removed? (from Commons)

Hello, RJHaas. I have absolutely no idea what image you are referring to. I am an admin on Commons, not here. (In fact, I'm not even very active here.) If you can provide a link to the deleted image, I'll look into it further (please reply on Commons). Thanks. Rocket000 (talk) 18:07, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The reason it was deleted was because the uploader unfortunately provided false information. He claimed the photo to be released under the GFDL. That implies the work is copyrighted (without copyright, you can't license it). Not only did he claim that a copyright exists on the image, he also specified that it was subject to English Wikipedia disclaimers. Now these restrictions are allowed on Commons, but obviously this specific image isn't licensed that way (There was no GFDL back in 1940). The author was listed as "Royal Air Force" and the source was http://www.arlingtoncemetery.net/highflig.htm. 1940 isn't old enough where we can consider this public domain by age and the source does not give any indication of it's copyright status. You said you know that this particular image is in the public domain, so if you can give me reason I'll restore it and add the correct info. Rocket000 (talk) 01:00, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
