Welcome!

Hello, RCSIRCSIRCSI, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  --HappyCamper 00:28, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Userboxes

I changed the layout of the userboxes on your userpage to a table format which is more manageable. — Nathan (talk) / 02:22, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • You're welcome.
  • Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also push the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! — Nathan (talk) / 15:18, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox University

I undid your change to {{Infobox University}}, as it is used in a lot of university articles, and removing that comma will break a number of them. The college is technically in the Dublin Region, so I put that for a region/province/state in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland article. We can do some tricks to make it look right w/o the Dublin Region part, while not breaking the template for articles, if you like. Let me know. --Kevin_b_er 03:27, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Got it. Couldn't fix the university article, so I just went in and fixed the template. state and province are now optional parameters, and the comma only appears when you actually use either of those optional parameters. Kevin_b_er 07:01, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Userboxes

I'm not an administrator, but userboxes are usually just templates. Though there's controversy surrounding userboxes. Check out WP:GUS for current instructions on creating userboxes. Alternatively; you could also copy another userbox's code and modify it for your userpage. Kevin_b_er 20:42, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are confusing me with someone else

I'm Allen Timothy Chang of the Class of 1994. I went to Berkeley only as a graduate student. I do know there is an Allen Chang of the Class of 2000 who went to UC Berkeley as an undergraduate. (Don't worry: there's so many Allen Changs who have gone to Berkeley). Allentchang 13:28, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Infobox University

I have reverted your changes to {{Infobox University}} — the smaller text made it very difficult to read. If you would like to propose changes to the box, please do so on its talk page. If you'd like to play around with the template, please do so in the sandbox! Thank you. — mholland 23:26, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Hussein Bassir.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Hussein Bassir.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then you need to specify who owns the copyright, please. If you got it from a website, then a link to the website where it was taken from with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:53, 20 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof 14:53, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Infobox University (2)

Hullo again. They don't label it esoteric for nothing! If you want to change the font size, go to the same line you were on before and replace '140%' with a lower value. I would ask that all changes are discussed on the template's talk page first – I know that the last editor did not, but nothing seems to have been broken. Many thanks. — mholland 16:38, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is regarding our disagreement about the BSBME article and including rankings. I wish to apologize if you have taken any offense at my editing actions or my humbly expressed opinion on the talk page. I hope you can understand my point of view and since this in an obvious point of contention, I would like to suggest that the original text stand pending a consensus among more editors. I would also like to refer you to Wikipedia's policy WP:DR for reference as this discussion continues. At the moment, your current edit stands as I do not wish to engage in a pointless edit war and I have placed a minor edit on your comment on the talk page. Orphaned fair use image (Image:RCSI Logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:RCSI Logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Yes I am a current student. Are you? I'm writing up a history of the college for the page and should have it ready in a few days. It may be rather long though. --Cremasteric 00:03, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Olive branch

This has gone on long enough. I'm willing to admit that I've let my frustrations get the better of me to a degree. Since this is mainly a content issue, I suggest that we both go through the steps of dispute resolution, including mediation or arbitration if necessary. However, I believe I've acted, at least for the most part, in good faith and my raising a sock puppet case, I believe as supported by my presented evidence, was warranted. Your subsequent raising of a case just looks like retribution. On those points, I'm willing to let it be sorted out by the admins. I'm hoping we can come to some sort of agreement on how to proceed. Thanks. -Cquan 20:37, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Dwik.PNG

Thanks for uploading Image:Dwik.PNG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Fair use rationale for Image:RCSI Logo.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:RCSI Logo.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Esrever 01:34, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:RCSI Logo.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:RCSI Logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Countyclare-crest.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Countyclare-crest.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:36, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Peterbutler.png

Thank you for uploading Image:Peterbutler.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 15:23, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Mackay-logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Mackay-logo.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Peter Butler (surgeon). We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Peter Butler (surgeon). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:17, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. File source problem with File:Painting of RCSI.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Painting of RCSI.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. plicit 06:02, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
