Cornell student project completed

Many thanks Piotrus for your excellent advice and support, which helped us launch the project smoothly. The students enjoyed writing their articles and felt that they made a worthy contribution to the engineering area. I agree; their work was not perfect but definitely advanced the area.

Our biggest technical challenges were in managing citations and images. Our biggest procedural challenge was the review process; the students were unwilling to challenge each others' work in public, so most reviews were whitewashes. (Markups in MS Word, exchanged privately, proved far more useful) We were fortunate that some experienced wikipedians stopped by to leave summary tags, usually re: categorization, wikification, image copyright, link poverty and orphan status. Thank goodness we had no wikipolitics and only a few minor vandalisms. As noted on WP:SUP (now under "Past Projects") chances are good that we'll do this again next year on a new set of topics, after running the students through an expanded suite of warm-up assignments to familiarize them with the mechanics of wiki-editing and the basics of copyvio prevention.

Best wishes for the holidays! susato 23:47, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Proposed Injunction

This is quick since it's a technical issue and I am just going afk: please elaborate on points 1 and 2 (less legal lingo :). Editwarring = revert war? Particulary point 2 - what is meant by 'unsolicited'? And if this mean uncivil comment or bad faith accusations, I'd stronly ask for it to be extended to article's talk space and edit summaries, where I think most problems take place.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  20:18, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes, edit wars=revert wars. Unsolicited means unasked for. So unless you ask for Ghirla's opinion on something, he won't be able to post on your talkpage nor you on his. Basically you will be severing direct communication. To cover those other areas you mentioned, would require more explicit language against stalking and harrassment. I think this would be a bit strong and unnecessary since it is implicit, and you both understand that stalking or harassment would violate the terms. But if you feel such language is needed and Ghirla agrees, then I will add it.--R.D.H. (Ghost In The Machine) 23:22, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Campaigning

If you continue to escalate your anti-Ghirlandajo crusade and interfere with my editing of topics on Russian history, I will have to review some Polnad-related articles, in my turn. Why not move Grand Duchy of Lithuania to Litva (Grand Duchy) and leave it there, like you did with Grand Duchy of Moscow today? --Ghirla -трёп- 17:06, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Controversial moves should be done via WP:RM. I actually think that Grand Duchy of Moscow is an interesting alternative, but your controversial move, creation of fork, disruption of page history and accusations of bad faith to editors which try to clean up the mess (like above) are not helping you nor your case.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  17:13, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
Since Grand Duchy of Lithuania exists, I don't see any arguments why Grand Duchy of Moscow should not. There is nothing controversial about that. Please don't try to decide for Russian editors where they want to keep their articles. --Ghirla -трёп- 17:15, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
Those articles are not yours, per WP:OWN.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  17:17, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
Ghirlandajo, the titles of Wikipedia articles are not supposed to be determined by a select few. Just because you don't see any arguments why an article should or should not be named a certain way doesn't mean there aren't any. I invite you to participate constructively in the talk page discussions instead of assuming bad faith. Appleseed (Talk) 18:25, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Piotrus, to this day I stayed away from your RfC. Our article's conflicts is one matter but I was hoping you got the message about your running anti-Ghirla crusades all over Wikipedia, especially the public pages. I see that I was wrong and you continue doing that. I lost hope that you will ever get the message on this and will post the outside view to this matter as soon as I have time to write it up. --Irpen 18:27, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Dear Piotrus, I just wanted to let you know that I added an English language source to the discussion page Battle of Konotop. I hope it settles it finally. Furthemore, I am willing to contribute to an unbiassed and neutral version of Muscovy and Muscovy-Poland Wars articles. Please keep me posted of all the events. Wargames

We have been pushing the idea of using images of wargames to show battlefield deployments and the course of events. Our problem is that we lack maps and people able of creating battlefield maps. By chance I realized you are familiar with the topic, so I would very much appreciate your advice.

My idea was to use photos of wargames taken from a bird's eye view with colored arrows indicating troop movement. In case the symbols for the troops are figures they should be deployed, colored and equipped in a historically accurate fashion, furthermore it should be easily possible to determine their troop type and to which side they belong. This is likely suitable for premodern warfare.

Kirill Lokshin raised the issue that it may not look professional, so I'm greatly interested in using the same wargaming style which was in use among the contemporary militaries. This would make it more authentic and really professional in my opinion, especially for the early modern and modern warfare until the rise of computers.Wandalstouring 23:32, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

No problem if you haven't this material. As I pointed out we are interested in quality and less in quantity. Perhaps you can help us to retrieve some material on how historic wargames looked like etc. I have heard rumours that Pyrrhus of Epirus was already using some kind of wooden miniatures to illustrate his battle plans. Furthermore I'm thinking about creating a review process for maps and wargames for accuracy and possibly some style guidelines.Wandalstouring 12:04, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

AN/I advice

Thank you for the advice on the AN/I, I appreciate your sincere effort to help. I think it's a little too far gone for us to be "friends", but I would be happy with a long-standing détente :-).

The problem is, we've really pissed each other off, and it's gotten to the point where we really don't like each other very much. He pissed me off with his attitude and actions during (and after) the great PRT war of 2006, and I pissed him off when I vigorously opposed him in the arb com elections. Any little provocation on either side sets the whole thing ablaze again...

But I think it's died down again, so you probably won't be seeing any more drama on AN/I or elsewhere for a while. :-) ATren 03:30, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

List of Polish Jews

Hi Piotrus. Thanks for looking into my concern. Recently I requested sources for the American politicians stating that these people are Polish Jews. So far, all thats been added were either links to wikipedia itself or pages that say the politicians had a Polish-Jewish parent, which clearly does not make them "Polish-Jewish politicians" as described in the page title and section title. Can we get a third opinion on this? Thanks. 141.213.211.83 22:58, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Polish Casualties

Czeéć
::I know of no source that has the breakout of German casualties inflicted by the Polish Army in the East or by Polish Partisans. Overmnans has monthly deaths on the Eastern Front until 12/31/44 and monthly deaths for the entire war. Losses of German Police (63,462) proably include SS units fighting partisans. On the Soviet side of the ledger Krivosheev lists Soviet losses( KIA-MIA/WIA) for every major operation of the war and by yearly quarters. The losses of the Polish Armies are given a seperate line for the operations in 1944-45. Total Polish losses with the Soviets were about 24,000 (KIA/MIA) and Soviet Losses from July 44-May 45 were about 1.7 Million- about 70 times that of the Polish forces. Overmans lists 740,000 Germnan deaths in the East from July-Dec 1944, this does not include 300,000 POW. Plus from Jan-May 1945 the Germans lost 1.2 million (KIA/MIA), 80% against the Russians, 1 million dead plus about 2 million POW, in the East in 1945. In summary from July 44-May 45 the Germans lost about 3 million dead & POW , the USSR 1.7 million plus 24,000 Polish, 35,000 Romanian, 6,000 Czechoslovak and 10,000 Bulgarian allies . If you need additional information let me know--Woogie10w 10:59, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Polish partisan losses also included the fighting in Kresy against the Soviet Partisans and the UPA. The partisan war involved more than the struggle against the Germans.--Woogie10w 12:53, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

ru-sib

Thanks for notifying. When I edited the link I knew nothing specyfic - it was just an wikiarticle with the wikimedia logo. After a while and with a little help of frwiki (sic!) I found the closing vote. Actually, it looks like it will be closed soon. While now I see no reason to make edit wars about it, forcing fast delinking seems to be not quite civilized way of acting (as the consensus has not been approved). --Beaumont (@) 08:55, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

It is providing links to a pile of profanities that is truly incivil. --Ghirla -трёп- 09:11, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
No, it's assuming bad faith that is truly incivil.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  12:34, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Polish Volksdeutsche Losses in Whermacht

The other side of the coin of Polish losses is the ugly issue of those Polish citizens in the German uniform. The 1958 West German report on expellee losses listed 432,000 ethnic German war dead in addition to an unproven claim of 2.225 million civilian dead for all of eastern Europe. The Polish component of these losses was 108,000 Wehrmacht military deaths in addition to an unproven claim of 290,000 civilian deaths. Overmans does not breakout ethic German losses by country, he lists the total Volksdeutsch losses at 530,000, about 20% higher than the 1958 estimate. The Polish component of the Overmnans number may be about 120-130,000.--Woogie10w 11:56, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Polish POW Losses

Polish losses also included POWs. The Germans released most Polish POWS in 1940 but others were sent to labor camps, Vadim Erlikman estimates 120,000 dead in German hands. The Soviets captured 455,000 Polish soldiers in the 1939 campaign according to Krivosheev. 209,000 were released and 246,000 sent to labor camps in the interior. Erlikman estimates 130,000 Polish POW deaths in Soviet hands. This is credible view of the fact that 83,000 came out with Anders and 36,000 served in the Polish Army in the USSSR. Years ago I knew a Polish war veteran of the Anders Army who survived these camps. Based on his description of conditions in Soviet POW camps, the statistic of 130,000 dead makes sense.--Woogie10w 13:06, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Polish Elections Template

Hi Piotr Sorry to inform you that I have replaced your Polish elections template with my one on a couple of pages. I have been creating standardised election boxes for each country, and although your layout is impressive, it would be difficult to use it to show historical elections and also if there were two elections in one year. I have not included local or european elections as the template only covers national votes (European ones will have their own eventually). Hi, I was wondering, if you could have a look at this. It is so inaccurate and repetitve of so many other articles, I am at a loss what to do. Piotrus, who started the sarcastic exchange at Talk:Jogaila today? Please work harder at avoiding the appearance of bias. Merry Xmas. Angus McLellan (Talk) 00:09, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

I apologise for the above message, which is clear as mud, and rather WP:ABF-ish. However, the person who started it was you, on 23 November at 16:45 CET. Yesterday the person who restarted it was Halibutt. M.K. and Dan are continuing it. Amazing how these things run and run. Angus McLellan (Talk) 10:07, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
I don't dispute the content of the message, only the wisdom of posting it to Talk:Jogaila rather than User talk:Halibutt. If it seemed like a good idea at the time, in retrospect it should look different. If article talk pages were used only to to discuss content, that would help enormously. Angus McLellan (Talk) 11:12, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
I've archived the section in question. I'll have a word with Dr Dan and M.K. and see what happens. (Calgacus is friendly with Dan so I'll drop him an email and see if he replies.) As I already said, I agree with the sentiments in your message: writing a GA is not a two minute job, and it seems quite beyond most editors if you look at requests for adminship. Perhaps I'm more cynical, but I could have predicted that the replies would be the way they were. Anyway, must get back to work. I've got access to whole libraries full of books which I can't get at home in Brussels, so I better make use of them. Cheers, Angus McLellan (Talk) 11:53, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
Of course you're right, but... Apparently spreading lies, unfounded accusations, offences, using vulgar language and all that stuff is perfectly acceptable in Wikipedia. Just as accusing entire groups of conspiracy basing solely on their nationality. Remember Renata? Remember Ghirlandajo, Dan, Juraune, M.K., Iulius, and countless others who do it all the time? Has anyone punished them for their constant assaults on me - or you, for that matter? Nope.
But when I reply in kind, my talk page gets full instantly and my user page gets modified in a matter of minutes. Ever wondered where was Angus when Renata posted her idiotic goodbye message, in which she accused me of a zillion of nasty things without posting a single piece of evidence? Did he moderate her lies or asked her to post any diffs and links? Nope. Or maybe he did intervene when Ghirlandajo did his usual job? Nope. Did he moderate any of the people who have ever offended me? Nope.
Anyway, I'm thinking of restoring the remark at my user page. After all it's perfectly ok to blame random people for my decision to go on wikivacations. And in this case the set of people was not that random at all. //Halibutt 15:18, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
It doesn't work. I did report some of them to PAIN (that's when the whole Durova idiocy started, and that's when I realized that it's perfectly ok to slander people in wikipedia as such offences are neither punished nor fall under any strict rules). I did try RfCs, RfMs, and all the other steps. I even tried informal mediation (with Ghirlandajo as well), off-the-wiki chatter (with Renata, for instance), humiliating myself in order to make the compromise easier (with Dan), I even put myself on trial and agreed to settle the issue personally (with the radical nationalist part of the Lithuanian community). Yet, as sad as it is, such steps worked only in one case: in the case of Zivinbudas blocked for one year.
All the other attempts at finding some way to live with Ghirlandajo, M.K., Renata and all the rest have been futile so far, or at best were working for a week or so. And if blocks are the only remedy, then your civility enforcement on Wiki is in a very bad shape remark is a gross understatement. A very bad shape would mean that the civility enforcement on Wiki works at all, while it doesn't. Nobody reads RfCs any more except for the people involved, the WP:PAIN guys have some serious problems themselves and take only the most obvious tasks (yet not all, as evidenced by Ghirla's f-word campaign not being punished), the mediators do a great job at times, yet there is no enforcement of the solutions agreed upon whatsoever. And so on, and so forth.
Having said that, I wonder what could be done to make Wiki usable again. I love the sense of moral superiority over most of those immoral swines who cast empty accusations yet lack the guts to apologize or provide evidence. However, sense of moral superiority is not enough. Just imagine how would you react if you found a perfect job, but then realized that all is ok except for your colleagues calling you a moron, an anti-semite, a Nazi, calling your parents Commie party members, and doing all sorts of nasty things in order to harass your good name. I bet you would try to find some better job - or at least a place where people are more acceptable. Sure, you can close your eyes, shut your ears and pretend that nothing happens. However, it doesn't work endlessly - and my time has come apparently. Wiki is like a full-time job. You could do your work in silence, what's around your own desk is also important.
It's important to note that there is no problem with content disputes as my tactics of escaping forward has proven the best solution - and works 100% with Ghirlandajo, Irpen, and people of their kind. However, when it comes to situations where no facts&sources exist, little can be done. In case of content disputes, I could simply show Ghirlandajo the sources, the facts and figures, and end the issue, as it's impossible to dispute facts. However, in case of his incivility campaigns I lack arguments - since there can be none. Am I to prove once again that I'm not a camel? (Not that I really had to explain those things to you, I guess).
But on to the point. What could be done to make the editing Wikipedia possible once again? Perhaps I lack something, but the only solution I can think of is a complete refurbishment of the wiki system. I mean - ignore the dispute resolution process and put everyone on civility parole. One offensive remark - 24h block. One unfounded accusation - 24h block. No excuses, no lengthy chatter. Instead we find ourselves in a bizarre situation where a single f-word written by Ghirlandajo needs 50,000 words or more on the RfC, WP:PAIN or elsewhere - and still there is no way to make him change his ways. But perhaps I'm missing something? Perhaps there's a less radical way? Any ideas?

//Halibutt 23:58, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi Piotrus, Yeah, but I didn't really want to stir up the sh*t any more than it's already been stirred. I hate taking sides in nasty disputes like this and I felt that partisan finger-pointing would not be helpful, especially since you two seem like you're actually getting close to coming to a resolution (thanks to Durova.) I have some small Jewish ancestry so maybe that's one reason. Another one is that in Poland there were about 3 millions Jews before the war. I was kind of shocked when I saw in Cat:Synagogues in Poland only a few articles. When I then found out that wonderful editor Slav created whole project dedicated to Polish synagogues in PL Wikipedia, the decision was obvious :). Also there are many beautiful churches in Poland. Many of them have own articles on PL Wiki, often with photos. They should be definitely translated to EN Wiki too but at this time, without my contribution as I have another project on sight. - Darwinek 21:52, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

A question, again

Sorry to bother you again Piotrus, but since I am fairly new here, I would like to hear your opinion on this subject. Recently Ukrainian topics have been vindalized by a number of individuals that I have found have a lot in common. They are all recent creations and it looks like they are created by one particular purpose to vindalize Ukrainian topics as no other topics have been affected at all. Is this thing normal and allowed in Wikipedia? Please have a look at the activity of these users to me it is very unusual, in the least:

WRT T'skrang being notable: I suggest you go edit the "Earthdawn" article then - if the article made it plain that multiple pieces of fiction set in this universe existed, I'd not be as opposed to it - but as the article is now written, it sounds like a single game only - and there are no references in either article speaking to someone beside Earthdawn's publishers and players thinking that the universe is notable - that would be a requirement for WP:NOT, in my opinion. --Alvestrand 21:10, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

New articles

Thank you for kind words. I am exhausted now, yesterday I was on Bal Akademicki and recent article is my second large in a few days. Maybe in distant future. :) Btw I would like to create a category that would include Polish people from Czechoslovakia/Czech Republic. How to name it? "Polish-Czechs", "Polish Czechs" or "Polish-Czech people", "Polish Czech people" or somehow else? I am supporter of the latter. I know many Poles from Zaolzie haven't single gram of Czech blood but it seems like a convention in way "ethnicity-citizenship", like Cat:Polish-Americans or Cat:Polish-French people. What do you think? Thank you. - Darwinek 19:17, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Osiedla

Cześć. Mam pytanie. Quarter (administrative)

A tag has been placed on Quarter (administrative), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. If you plan to add more material to the article, I advise you to do so immediately. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Springnuts 13:22, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

What is the difference between Category:Voivodeships of Lithuania and Category:Historical voivodeships of Lithuania? Or those categories should be merged? Renata 18:19, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Taking your Advice

Moved my question to your talk page, as Pilsudski's talk page was an innapropriate place to ask you this question (sorry). As an administrator or simply as a contributor, do you have any evidence that Ghirlandajo made a death threat to Halibutt on or off of Wikipedia? Can you provide a link to it? You were part of the discussion with Angus McClellan on Halibutt/News, Dec. 23-24, 2006, concerning this very unusal accusation. Dr. Dan 01:08, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Unfortunately this is a very serious matter. As bad as calling people names like troll and dick, etc. are, making a death threat is a completely different matter. If someone participating on Wikipedia has made a death threat to another contributor, we need to get to the bottom of this immediately. What is odd and surprising is that you are unable to help by linking this misunderstanding, for everyone to see. I say this despite of your inability to find it at the moment, since you are most capable of linking Ghirlandajo's sins when it is convenient to make some point. Please help in resolving this extremely serious matter as soon as possible. Dr. Dan 14:14, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
Please do not dodge the issue. I am not refering to your typo concerning "deceased", I am specifically referring to Halibutt's charges of December 23, at 16:14, on user Halibutt/News, where amongst other remarks, he directly accuses Ghirlandajo of making a death threat against him. Dr. Dan 15:05, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
Fine, I will take your last response on my talk page concerning this matter to signify that you either do not think making death threats on Wikipedia to be serious or important, or making accusations of non-existant death threats to be serious or important. I am interested what Jimbo Wales and other higher-ups in the Wikipedia hierarchy will have to say about the matter. Dr. Dan 15:55, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

national culture wikiprojects

Hi Piotrus,

finally, a message unrelated to the Piotrus-Ghirla war! ;-)

Anyway, WikiProject Hungarian Culture seems set to be finally created. István and I have been talking about how best to begin, what to focus on etc., and we've both noticed that the Polish Cabal Wikipedia community :) has done an excellent job of putting together really comprehensive coverage of Polish culture and history. If you have any advice/guidance/words of wisdom on how to get started that you could share with us, it would be much appreciated. ;-) Happy New Year, too. K. Lástocska 21:36, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

It's that simple, eh? Good to know. :) K. Lástocska 22:50, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Help with a little translation

Hi, Piotrus.

I just stumbled over a very poor article about an unrecognized state in Africa, the Kingdom of Rwenzururu. If you have the time, could you possibly translate pl:Rwenzururu into English? The Polish article is only three lines long, but that would still be better than nothing. Merry Christmas and happy editing. Valentinian (talk) / (contribs) 22:14, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

I do know about Halibutt, whom I admire greatly. I didn't want his work to go to waste; and wouldn't it be a tribute to him if we could get this to FA? My New Year's resolution, after the recent departures of various tetchy-but-brilliant editors, is to support such individuals more in future: we mustn't lose any more; and I hope we get Halibutt back. Useful Reference Link

Hi Piotr, thanks for the salad'o'meter- apropos of useful items, here is something we found - recently declassified CIA Daily and Weekly intelligence summaries from October and November 1956 which also contain material on Poznan 56 and Gomulka (they were watching Poland at the time too). Too bad its so heavily redacted. István 03:16, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Thanks Piotr, I will see what I can do. On the other hand I find all WP:DYK submissions somewhat laborious for a guy who's not heavily into it like myself. I read about the process earlier and felt mildly discouraged by what's required. Poeticbent 03:33, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Piotr. Following your suggestion, I'd like to expand on my article Florian Gate by 50% and submit it to WP:DYK, but would you please explain to me how exactly do I do that? I've never submitted anything before and have no idea where to start. Thanks in advance. Poeticbent 19:16, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

PS. I just added Florian Gate to WP:DYK. Check it out. Poeticbent 01:29, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

The meaning of "most enduring"

I appreciate your completion to the Romanian anti-communist resistance movement. I welcome every bit of information which contributes clarifying those facts. I am realizing now, that at a second sight, labels like "most enduring resistance movement" are quite ambigous (is it meant life duration or last date of survival ?) There is yet another aspect which differentiate the Romanian movement: this wasn't a continuation of anti-German resistance from the WWII (which didn't exist in Romania), but an ad-hoc coalescence of anti-communist forces which emerged not until 1948, that is some two and half years after the WWIII was over. There is a simple explanation for this: unlike Poland, where Germans tempted to radically destroy autochtone structures, Romania was but a vassal state, where Germans preserved previous structures. It wasn't until the Soviet regime began a radical change of existing structures, that Romanians decided to oppose physically. (As a Romanian cabaret verse of late 1945 used to put it: It was bad with "der, die, das"/ It's much worse with "Dawaj Tschjass"). As for the sense of "most enduring", what I meant is, that some of the Romanian resistance groups resisted ten years the communist regime as organised, operational combat units. Cheers,--Vintila Barbu 14:09, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, Piotrus ! The mention "one of the most lasting" should be kept, no doubt. After all, this is by no means a contest of superlatives. DYK requirements "push" one to find a DYK-"clue", sometimes at costs of a reality, which is always much more complex than a "beauty contest". --Vintila Barbu 15:12, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Commenting on unsourced personalities on List of Polish Jews?

Despite making direct and explicit statements that all flagged, unsourced entries on List of Polish Jews will be removed per Verifiability standards (no sources on these personalities can be found stating they are Polish and/or Jewish) removals are being met by resistance on the unexplained basis of "POV edits" --- to what POV is not bothered to be explained. I'm requesting you, as a Polish speaker, to either help find sources for these personalities or protect the page from further additions of these un-verified personalities. It's been over a month that they have remained on, flagged, and they cannot do so forever. Further details are on TALK:List of Polish Jews. Thank you for any help given. 141.213.67.46 19:34, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

This is a user who has been permanently banned for persistent sockpuppetry. I should be grateful if you would please not assist him.--Runcorn 20:19, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
Unabusive so-called "sockpuppets" are wiki users too, and their edits are just as valuable as anyone elses if done according to wiki policies. As a dynamic IP, I can simply be the "sockpuppet" of every IP I use. As the very questionable admin that Mr.Runcorn, this should be quite clear to him. Furthermore, though I do not adhere to this rule, Mr.Runcorn should know it exists: WP:IAR and most importantly "Blocking to gain an advantage in a content dispute is strictly prohibited. Sysops must not block editors with whom they are currently engaged in a content dispute." which Mr. Runcorn breaks on a consistent basis. Most importantly "Caution should be exercised before blocking users who may be acting in good faith" which Runcorn seems to ignore. If I made a good-faith edit to hippopotamus I wouldn't be reverted or banned, but List of Polish Jews and I am. This clearly shows the admin is participating in the content dispute.
Piotrus, you should look at List of Polish Jews on your own discretion, and not let anyone convince you otherwise. 141.213.211.81 00:59, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Polish POV on coins

Regarding your edits and moves to the old coins called Groschen, Prager Groschen and Krakau Groschen by the American Numismatic Society's curatorial database of coins [5] and other English language sources dealing with the actual coins, please stop insisting on the Polish POV that introduced [6] [7] [8] the Polish "grosz" as hypothetical "grosh" into English Wikipedia, violating WP:NOR. Same applies for the hypothetical "Grosch"[9] that is not a German singular for Groschen. Using Google counts with these terms, producing hits not related to the coins, are by far inferior to numismatic sources. Please undo your changes accordingly, in article names, article content, talk pages and articles that link there. Thanks in advance. -- Matthead discuß!     O       22:28, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Piotr, as you still promote the Polish POV original research term you have introduced (Talk:Kraków grosh), I ask you once again to stop and accept the term the American Numismatic Society's curatorial database uses, by moving/changing back to Krakau Groschen. Thanks in advance. P.S.: Regarding Polish POV on Free City of Cracow, you should have a look what Britannica says about the Republic of Cracow. -- Matthead discuß!     O       00:05, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

When creating your template, use a template that provides the show/hide functionality. :) Take a look at the table with the various template options at the bottom of Template:Navigation.

As for "side templates" with show/hide functionality, I think I saw them used in on of the recent FA articles you worked on. Appleseed (Talk) 03:56, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

I was referring to Virtuti Militari, which uses Template:Dynamic navigation box. So I guess I was wrong, and I haven't seen show/hide with side templates. Appleseed (Talk) 04:15, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Article on "Colonial troops"

Hello Piotrus

I would like to do some work on Wikifying the recently expanded article dealing with colonial troops and/or forces. I would be grateful if you could flag the areas that need particular attention to bring it up to standard.

Many thanks

Hello. I have a couple of comments about the article, or more specifically about the Congress Poland article. In the latter article, the template says that Congress Poland existed from 1815 to 1915, while the text in the first paragraph says 1814 to 1915. Additionally, the second article does not mention 1874, while the first says that Congress Poland "existed from 1815 to 1874". In other words, I think we should have a little more consistency, as there do seem to be some contradictions here. Biruitorul 02:08, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
Ah, thank you. Once you do read more, I'm sure the problems will be smoothed out. Biruitorul 02:22, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Expletives

Hi Piotr. I was just wondering. Would it be possible to remove from the "History" [10] of the Florian Gate article expletives written by User:216.209.122.17? I think the user who's been blocked almost instantaneously (see: talk) intentionally wrote those expletives in "Edit summary" to have them listed in the history of the article later. Poeticbent 05:18, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Inaccuracies in the article "Count Jan Dołęga-Ossowski"

Dear Piotr:

I was trying to fix the mess which is the article named Count Jan Dołęga-Ossowski. First I rewrote the linked article Janisław I according with the pl:wiki, (I do trust in Mathiasrex)... Second, I edited a disambiguation Ossowski. Third, I wrote a long list of inaccuracies an edited it in the Talk:Count Jan Dołęga-Ossowski.

Of course I was already check all the sources of the article, even in Deutsch.... They just prove all what everybody knows, the Ossowski family herbu Dołęga was/is an aristocratic Polish family, level High Nobility.

Nevertheless there was any Count/Hrabia (just a countess, wife of a German Graf). May be some Count/Komes, but thus is another thing... So the title is wrong. It is not clear who really was Jan Dołęga-Ossowski. It is only clear what was his family´s status.

I noticed all of this to the author User:Jemthepen in his (or her) talk page. Now I would like to rename the page as "Dołęga-Ossowski" and try to do something reasonable with the text. That family deserves it.

I wait for your suggestions, my friend. I will send a copy of this to Maciej and perhaps to Halibutt to. I hope they can help me.

Best regards. --Gustavo Szwedowski de Korwin 13:34, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

"On 12 July 2006 Angela Merkel and Jarosław Kaczyński, the new Polish Prime Minister, declared a close German-Polish co-operation."

Co o tym myślisz? Cała część Taz article controversy jest wysoce kontrowersyjna, ale to jest już chyba lekką przesadą, a przynajmniej niedomówieniem.--Umedard Talk 20:21, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for the correction to the English language Dassow wiki page

Piotr Konieczny,

Thank you for changing the link from "Polish" to "Polish Language" on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dassow. This is a subtle difference, but an improvement none-the-less.

Out of curiosity, do you have any information on Daszewo, Poland (formerly known as Dassow, Poland)? I have found very little information on this town other than its existance and location.

Sincerely, Dan Dassow —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dan Dassow (talkcontribs) 05:12, 16 January 2007 (UTC).

RGA BALLY

This is RGA_BALLY. I have found the many pages informing us how to use talk page to be so overwhelming as to leave me confused. I am not sure this message will get through. I have tried to put a link on the POLAND page but without sucess. I accept that it does, maybe, contravene the spam policy. I am a teacher who has physics and maths websites on the world wide web and when our school accepted many new polish students I decided to do a few web pages that might help them understand English better. (My school is in England). The main objective is to put as many audio files spoken in English on the site as possible. When I have finished I hope that it will contain in excess of a 1,000 sound files. This is definitely a non commerical site as all education should be free. I thought I would use it as an external link in the wikipedia Poland page as we have already 300,000 natives of Poland who have already come to England with mnay more expected. Most languages sites ask for money; whereas my humble contribution to polish-english integration will be always free and to help people to assimilate quickly to their new country. "All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood." That was my aim. Sorry if my adding the link was a nuisance to you —The preceding unsigned comment was added by RGA BALLY (talkcontribs) 22:27, 16 January 2007 (UTC).

Since I am not really familiar with that project, I don't feel qualified to do so, sadly. It's better for someone who knows the why and how of the proposal to explain it to the developers, and to answer any questions they may have. "Developers don't bite." Titoxd(?!?) 03:52, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

If seriously

Ok, my previous post (mammas and daddies) was when I was having way too much late night fun after way too long work day :) So if seriously, what do you expect me to do? I am pretty much out of Wikipedia these days and this is the first time I have logged in to the Internet from home in two weeks... So I just don't have time to deal with the petty fights that are going on. Renata 01:53, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Halibutt and me is none of your business. And as far as MK and Lokyz goes, you asked for it. How can I mediate when you yourself fuel this thing further? And if you haven't realized it yet, this whole PL-LT war is absolutely endless and hopeless. I haven't started it, and am no miracle-maker to end it. Renata 02:43, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Infobox Poland - need a helping hand

Hi
can you please give me a helping hand / some ideas? This box has to be updated and synchronized to a proper international standard.
As you can see I did some changes to the "Infobox Poland". Please have a look at three examples: Opatowek, Kalisz and Kalisz County

1) The old infobox is wrong (powiat is not council, it is county) please see wikipedia
2) The Infobox should be much better structured / headlines... Same cheme that Infoboxes for other countries (Ex.: UK, Germany, US...)
- but how can we solve the headline problem so that it fits for cities as well as for villages and districts? Can we do a kind of "if...town ...then...else district"?

I will update all towns in Poland to the new Format (if we have created a nice final version) ;-)
Best regards
(Fujicolor 17:33, 18 January 2007 (UTC))
Hi again
please have a short look at the infobox right now. Please compare two examples: Katowice as an example for a large city and Opatowek as example for a rural commune (a village called opatowek and also the commune is called Opatowek but contains 27 other villages). As I understand it works like that most times in Poland. There is a city Powiat (ex: Kalisz) and a county powiat (ex: Kalisz County) usually with the same name as the city. This Infobox should work well with it.
How do you think about the box right now? What would you like to change / add / remove? Should we still make two boxes?
Please give me some feedback
Best regards (Fujicolor 12:56, 20 January 2007 (UTC))

St. Florian Gate

Hi, Piotr. I have a favour to ask. Article Florian Gate has been moved by User: Logologist to St. Florian's Gate. However, the new name, although common among websites promoting tourism in Poland, is not written in good English. I can accept the changeover only as a St. Florian Gate without the letter "s" behind the name of Florian. Here are some examples of proper usage of the same given name: Saint Florian Church [11], St Florian de la Riviere [12], The St Florian Standard [13], or St. Florian Monastery in Enns [14], etc. Please change the name again.

I'm sending a copy of my request to User: Logologist. Thanks. --Poeticbent  talk  16:50, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Addendum: I have changed my position in this matter since I realized that User: Logologist is interested only in pushing his own agenda without trying to reach consensus and continues to make critical edits to Florian Gate article in order to prove his point. I requested that the original name be brought back in accordance with the naming convention established by Encyclopedia Britannica. --Poeticbent  talk  21:34, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Piotr. Here are some of our options in relation to other world names:
or in our case:
  • Kraków (or Kraków's) Nativity Cribs
  • Kraków (or Kraków's) Crèches
  • Kraków (or Kraków's) Christmas Cribs
Which one of them sounds most appropriate to you at this stage?

I would appreciate if you were kind to express your opinion on the Florian Gate's Talk page. --Poeticbent  talk  23:40, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Please address the new accusations made by User:logologist on Talk:Florian Gate which include my response. Thanks. --Poeticbent  talk  06:00, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Recall

I came by to initiate your recall for an unethical behavior unbecoming for an admin. Please let me know if you consider that I do not qualify by "your criteria". --Irpen 05:27, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Care to be more specific what unethical behavior? "My criteria" are stable and described above, btw. And I think the last attempt to recall me would give some people a pause...-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  06:37, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Please a direct answer. Do I qualify as one of the six or not? And don't try to intimidate or scare me. Thank you. --Irpen 06:45, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

I asked you to be direct first, you know. If you want to recall me, please tell me why. I'd think I deserve at least that much... Piotrus, I elaborated at RFI and will elaborate more at Durova's mediation. My question is whether I qualify by your criteria. Please answer. --Irpen 07:00, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Sigh. I don't know until you answer my question, as I have to judge your request in the light of whether concerns my admin powers rather than a non-admin editing concern. That will in turn allow me to judge whether you are neutral or not.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  07:02, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
OK, I got it. --Irpen 07:19, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Crakow is a mispelling (per Talk:Kraków#Spelling_.2F_misspelling) - it should be changed to Kraków. And while you are at it, see Historical_demographics_of_Poland#Urban_demographics for other large cities of that period that should not be excluded from the map: Poznań, Wrocław, Gdańsk and Trakai should be added, see also this map for some others.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  21:34, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

I am happy to change "Cracow", though it is a variant spelling, not an error or a misspelling, and was taken from the map in the Times Atlas of World History (1994).
I have several historical maps at my disposal, and I'm afraid I do not believe that the map you link to is accurate. It has Poland too narrow at the top, as if the Carpathians travelled further north. But the worst thing about that map—at least on my computer—is that it is impossible to read. I traced my map from this old German one: Image:Poland under Jagello.jpg.
But rest assured, a second map is coming, which will show Prussia and northern Poland and Lithuania, and all the northern places mentioned in the article, the battles, sieges, shifts in land. The first map I intended really only to give the reader the larger picture (which one can't take for granted: knowing where Samogitia was is essential to a comprehension of the article, for example). I have recently had my view of Wikipedia historical maps enlightened by the guidelines of User:MapMaster and his philosophy that the map-reading experience should be integrated with the text-reading experience in a Wikipedia article; in particular (to quote him):
  • [Integrated maps] will work together with the accompanying article. The purpose of an integrated map is to provide context for placenames and other information in the article.
  • Will be sharply defined and clear when viewed within the article. Too many maps in Wikipedia are shrunken so small or drawn with so much detail that they cannot be read or understood from the article.
  • Will not require a magnifying glass and maxi-zoom to read the details. Like a Wikipedia article, a map can be improved by leaving out information/data.
  • Will be easy to interpret.
For the time being, I will change the spelling of Crakow to Kraków and add Trakai (which I left out to avoid squashing: I can get round that by pushing the word "Samogitia" upwards).
I will be through with the article text in about a week (famous last words!), and then I will get down to the second map, for which I have been collecting sources and which, without using any original research, I suspect will be unique to Wikipedia. qp10qp 10:03, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Double-entry bookkeeping system

You made a change to this line in Double-entry bookkeeping system

In record keeping, particulary accountancy, the double-entry bookkeeping
(or double-entry accounting) system is the basis of the standard system
used by businesses and other organizations to record financial transactions.

Can you tell me what else besides accountancy uses double-entry bookkeeping as I know its use only in bookkeeping and accountancy. Thanks NilssonDenver 21:17, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Metropolis Katowice?

Just to let you know that this article IMHO looks like a "semi-hoax" (or mispresentation at best - it strongly suggests something different from the facts that can be found in sources). Please consult the pl.wiki article. I know you know the region and you were interested in it, so I'm letting you know first. I intend to rewrite that article (essentially, pl version, widely discussed once and now quite well sourced - should be a model; disclaimer: I participated in the discussion, I found some sources). So if you have any comments or remarks, they will be more than welcome. Clearly, I have strong views on the subject but I'm willing to discuss any changes, let's hope we won't be 3-reverting each other ;-) Certainly, this should be announced in the article's talk page first. I consider to contact some users recently involved in editing (probably MarekLug would be interested too). Generally, it looks like a bit bigger project and I shall schedule it after smaller ones are finished (so not too soon - but, hopefully, not too late). Just few thoughts. --Beaumont (@) 23:35, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Request for investigation

Thank you for the attention you have paid to my request. I posted the requisite link.[20] Cheers. Tankred 18:27, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Piotr, if you have difficulty finding that article, I can send it to you by e-mail. I really hope my request for investigation will be dealt with because integrity of Wikipedia is at stake whenever someone compromises the cited and referenced text. Such vandalism looks credible and is much more difficult to identify.
And I am already sick of the odd harassment amassed at RFI. I asked VinceB in a very polite way[21] to remove his personal attack ("You are agressive, hostile, and highly uncivil, and seemingly you have some personal vindictiveness or whatever childish thing against me... You are full with fixa ideas, and you project them all into me. You think that I'm a kind of far right scum, or whatever, wich weaks up, and falls asleep with the Turul, and wants revision and Justice to Hungary and whatever. And this is a fuckin' big lie, and has nothing to do with the real me"[22]) as you suggested.[23] Instead, VinceB has just added another paragraph,[24] implying for example that I started an edit war (with a link directing to a history page of Hungary and no real diff has been offered). I rebutted his accusations,[25] but this is really time-consuming and disturbing. And this situation (VinceB challenging his block for sock puppetry and accusing me of various terrible things) repeats itself at least once a month since September. I do not understand how you can withstand all the attacks of this kind (and you have experienced enough of them). Personally, I think it would be perhaps better to leave Wikipedia altogether (as I already tried, but I failed) and to focus solely on our work in the real life. Tankred 20:11, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Wanna have a good laugh?

User_talk:DGG#Comments_from_outside :) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Halibutt (talkcontribs) 23:47, 22 January 2007 (UTC).

I'll give my own response to that posting, and it is not laughing. I am not interested in the history of the article. this is a comment on the article, not the edit history and not the editors and not even their motives--this is not a RfA. I do not attempt to decide what is the true native language anywhere, and neither should WP, and ditto about the historical relationship of the countries. All WP can do is report the state of the facts--and if the facts are disputed the different opinions on the facts, and then opinions of relevant people in their own words. The legacy of war and imperialism has left disputes behind it everywhere in Europe. I would expect the parties involved not to depend on WP to justify themselves.
I am going to continue editing the article for NPOV. I continue to give the advice that the political disputes should be left to the article on the organization. Sometimes these edit wars end by the organization article taking one side, and the biographic article the other, but that is not what is meant by NPOV.
In order to do this, I would appreciate 1 or 2 characteristic political quotes from our linguist, from published works, (& in translation). I'd appreciate brief quotes in reply. Let him use his words, we should not try to rewrite them; Ideally we want some that both parties would accept as characteristic, but evaluate differently. The readers will judge for themselves. They are not fools.
In addition, i want a reference to two statements judging him properly nationalistic etc., or the closest to that you can get. Again I suggest his own works. It is not acceptable to have 5 or 6 links on one side only, and it does not matter what one may think of the man or his politics-- he & his adherents can still speak for themselves.

DGG 05:15, 23 January 2007 (UTC) please see the talk p. of the article for a further reply DGG 22:33, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

An uninvolved admin says....

Now would be a great time to drop it. Please discontinue the argument at WP:RFI or I will drag the warring parties apart while adopting a policy of actively not caring who, if anyone, is right. Same goes for Irpen. Guy (Help!) 21:21, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

JzG, did you actually read what I was saying? Shutting it down was what I was actually calling for all along! I just hope this was the last time Piotrus was trying to solve edit conflicts through "complaint departments". --Irpen 21:23, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Piotrus, here is a thought for you. You have a tendency, when you get frustrated with someone, to post the dispute to every board on the 'pedia looking for support. Are there any other admins working on the same articles you are? It looks like this is a core part of the problems you are experiencing. Guy (Help!) 00:20, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

A suggestion

Piotrus, I have a suggestion that may end this all for once. You write to Ghirla asking him to come back and telling him that you will request the dismissal of the arbitration case that was the last straw that ejected him. If he comes back, you never ever bring any complaints on him to any boards and brings them all to either Durova and JzG who both you and I trust. In return, he promises the same courtesy. In the same time, you are free to continue to file all your complaints against me any place you want and I withdraw the request for your recall. Would you find this workable? --Irpen 02:30, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

First, I saw no proof Ghirla withdrew from this project because of conflict with me (which he initatied himself). The message on his page about wikibreak makes no comment about myself, and the mediation was going quite well and he made no statements that he may withdrew from Wikipedia becasue of it (or ArbCom). That said, you can pass him my message that I hope he will come back and continue content creation as in the mediations he has agreed to all that I and many others asked - i.e. civility parole. Thus as far as I am concerned ArbCom will only be needed if he retracts his agreement from mediation, and the entire issue is mostly settled.

Second, I see no reason to give up the right any user has - i.e. to request other users to investigate disruptive behaviour by other users. As an admin I cannot block people who may be considered 'in dispute with me', but I see no reason why I cannot ask others to look into the issue on public forums - just as others have the right to complain about me (by filing an RfC or posting at WP:RFI, WP:ANI or anywhere they want).

Third, you are welcome to try to gather supporters for my recall at any time, this is why I have opted in for this.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  02:43, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Piotrus, I am not going to go into who initiated your conflict with Ghirla. The issue is complex and known to us. But since you refuse my proposal to limit your complaints on him to a limited list of the mutually trusted users, the issue is moot.
As for your recall, you said I am not qualified by your criteria. I tried but you said I do not count. --Irpen 02:46, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
This is the first time I heard about your proposal 'to limit your complaints on him to a limited list of the mutually trusted users'. On the other hand, I myself suggested the very same solution on our mediation and we were discussing it before Ghirla disappeared, so I'd strongly suggest that if you are looking for people who 'chased Ghirla off', you look for others as again I am not aware of a single sign I had anything to do with it. As for my recall, first you have to show me which administrative powers I abused; as you have not done so I see no reason to discuss my recall and who is and who is not qualified through my criteria.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  02:51, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

See above where I just offered that if you want to complain about Ghirla, take it to JzG and Durova. You responded that you are not to limit your right to take it anywhere you want. Fair enough. I was looking for a solution while you insist on your rights.

As for your recall, I am requesting it not for admin abuse but for an unethical behavior in general, that is seeking for blocks of your opponents at various occasions namely (and mostly) Ghirla, but also Fisenko and myself. I think this is unworthy for an admin and would like you recalled based on that. If you disqualify me by your criteria, fine by me. As you set out for Ithaka, hope the voyage is long
Knowledge is your destiny, but don't ever hurry the journey
May there be many summer mornings when
With what pleasure and joy, you come into harbors seen for the first time

Don't expect Ithaka to make you rich. Ithaka gave you the marvelous journey
And, if I, one of your fellow-travellers, can offer something
To make this journey of yours even more fascinating and enjoyable
This is my assistance with anything I can help.

BLP

BLP absolutely applies to mentions of living people in any article. But 1 article at a time. Remind me again when we are done with the present one. DGG 05:12, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Updates on User:Wellreadone

FYI, since you issued a vandalism warning to User:Wellreadone, I have updated the complaint at Requests for investigation#Wellreadone with new info. Since your warning he has proceeded to vandalize both User:Mikkalai and User:Will Pittenger's user pages as retribution. Wellreadone also blanked his talk page, again, to remove all previous warnings.

I wasn't sure if I needed to resubmit a brand new request, so I simply appended this information to the previous complaint. Just my opinion, but this guy needs to be blocked. Thanks for the time. Dugwiki 18:57, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

FYI, I went ahead and put a report on the AIV page for Wellreadone. That should hopefully take care of it. Dugwiki 19:07, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

State extraordinary commission

RE: Hi, if you think that it could be nominated for Did you know, perhaps you'd do it? While not really being new to Wikipedia, I haven't nominated any articles so far. Wlasow 20:26, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

An article which you started, or significantly expanded, Constitution of the Kingdom of Poland, was selected for DYK!

Updated DYK query On January 24, 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Constitution of the Kingdom of Poland, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Hi, do you have an idea how to request arbitration? It seemed that only a clerk can request it, not a usual user.Constanz - Talk 18:17, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Go ahead, Constanz. Start the arbitration yourself. --Irpen 18:21, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

I added the request, because two RfCs and a Third opinion have already failed and there's not a slightest hint, that a mediation would be of any use.Constanz - Talk 10:46, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

New articles bot

I have found on Portal_talk:Russia/New_article_announcements#New_articles_bot your message about a new article bot. I am very interested (in fact wanted to write something of that sort myself, but cannot find time). What has happened with the bot? I could not find any references to it. Request to Poeticbent and logologist

Dear friends, I know both of you as reasonable and well-meaning editors, and this is why your conflict saddens me. May I suggest that you leave Brama Floriańska aside and instead try to cooperate together on expanding another article? Perhaps expanding Polish poetry or translating pl:Szopka krakowska would be to your liking?-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  19:01, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Bomb (play)

Thanks for the info. Looked to me like a speedy delete to begin with, but wanted to make sure it is not something famous in poland (yet). Best wishes, -- Chris 73 | Talk 20:33, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Unsigned button correction

From {{subst:unsigned|user name or IP|date}} to {{subst:unsigned|user name or IP|~~~~~}} which creates the desired effect (I'd guess the 'date' is a forgotten placeholder?).-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  19:34, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Sorry for not coming back quicker on this (I have been busy elsewhere). This button probably came from the German version of XEB. I think 'date' is deliberate. Looking at Template:Unsigned this suggests that the second parameter of the template should be the date the unsigned post was added, by having 'date' it reminds the user that they need to put the date in manually. Using ~~~~ would insert the date the unsigned template gets added rather than the date of the original post (it would also insert the signature of the person adding the unsigned template). I'm inclined to not change the button, but come back to me if you think my interpretation of the template is wrong. --MarkS (talk) 21:32, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Jak stworzyć subkategorię ?

Witam ! Bardzo dziękuję za wiadomość . Chętnie pomogę rozwijać wiedzę o Polsce i Polakach na angielskiej wikipedii . Mój "konik" to piłka nożna .

Hey Piotrus, I'm contacting you to get the lowdown on the eve-wiki, i've read the rules, and they seem to be contradictory. Can you take a look at the skills and Accessories section, I started working on it, but now i'm getting that sinking feeling that maybe I'm linking things improperly.

Prośba o pomoc - ikonki w user page

Witam ! Pozdrawiam Bartekos
