Hi, Pep. You are mistaken in equating the term "White" as used in the census with the term "European American." In the census, “White” refers to a person having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa. It includes people who indicated their race as “White” or reported entries such as Irish, German, Italian, Lebanese, Arab, Moroccan, or Caucasian. It is not limited to people who identify as "European American." It's also important to realize that the census relies on self-identification. A person who identifies as "White" might not identify as "European American." When we're describing information from the census, we can only use the terminology and definitions that apply to the census. I don't mean to be disruptive. I am correcting a racially insensitive action when European Americans on these pages are listed as just a color...White, while you refer to African Americans and Asian Americans with that much more respectful title. If you referred to African Americans as Black, then it would be acceptable to refer to European Americans as White, but that is not the case. European Americans have an ethnicity too and are not just a color. The practice of referring to us by just a color is hurtful, offensive and discriminatory. I'm only asking for nothing more or less that you do for all other racial groups on here. I'm sure you don't mean to cause hurt and pain to some of your users, but that is the end result, nonetheless. I request that you change this hurtful policy asap. We are European Americans!!! There's certainly plenty of merit to that, but Wikipedia content about race generally follows US Census usage, which includes the terms White and Black or African American, but not European American (note that White includes those with ancestry in the Middle East and/or North Africa, in addition to Europe). Since Wikipedia's role is to follow reliable sources and not try to establish new usage patterns, it's best we follow the Census, in the interest of not confusing the majority of readers. I don't care about caucasian as that is the white negro word equivalent. How many times did Bobby Kennedy or MLK have to oppose Racists like yourself? They are the same, you anti-European American RACIST! You make make them all black and white, then fine, you list blacks with the much more respectful and courteous term of African American, then give the same courtesy and respect to European Americans. Hard to believe that we are still fighting Racists like yourself in 2019. America has no place for Racists! We shall overcome!
