How you can help

Since you explained on my talk page that you are the same person as the anonymous editor using IP:124.180.156.242 I'll copy this here, but I originally added to the talk page of that IP.

In relation to this comment, I'm the mongrel. Unfortunately, all of the material that I deleted was explained here. Let's look at it together. Starting with the first deleted item, the streaming company isn't really important. Also, how long their domain is going to run isn't really encyclopedic. It would also need an update in nine months. I moved the Big Daddy Weave material, after wikilinking the album and finding a reference for it, to a section that made chronological sense. I corrected the capitalization of their Christmas album, formatted the chart placement correctly (see WP:NUMERO). I removed the Trivia about Becca singing lead vocals since you added that to the linked article. I did edit that back a bit at the article as well and requested that you provide a reference for that statement. I merged the final appearance and removed the promotional material about where its selling. I suspect that unless the song is an iTunes exclusive, it will appear in other places as well. I removed the unsourced statement about The Beatles being their main musical influence, particularly since it doesn't come through in their music. And as for the section about Rebekah Hardt, it's poorly formatted and completely unsupported. See WP:RS for finding reliable sources to things. Oh, I missed one thing. A discography is about albums, not singles. You added their current single to the discography section so I removed that.
Sorry if you feel your effort was wasted, some of what you wrote was usable, but other material had to be edited for inclusion. You'll see from the information above, there is a lot you still have to learn before you can become a good Wikipedia editor, but I trust that you'll channel your energy into making better edits rather than making big edits that aren't particularly useful.

In short, you may know that the material is from actual transcripts, but they have to be both verifiable and from reliable sources. As for my authority, I'm an editor here and that's what Wikipedia is about. It's the encyclopedia that anyone can edit. It's also got some policies and guidelines for editing. If material doesn't meet those policies and guidelines, it's the responsibility of other editors to either tag it or remove it. If you look at the statement you left on my talk page: "to allow a single person to govern and edit it as their own will is not good" goes both ways. You added material that was unreferenced and in a few instances, excessively verbose. You must expect others will come along and edit what you wrote. They may add to it, remove from it or remove it completely. As it says at the bottom of every edit page "If you do not want your writing to be edited and redistributed at will, then do not submit it here." And remember, it's not whether your material is correct or not, its whether it's verifiable and from reliable sources or not.

I will assume the rest of your comments are due to you being a new editor, but I extend a welcome to you and I'm glad to help you become a better Wikipedian. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 23:51, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
