Information icon Hello, I'm GorillaWarfare. I wanted to let you know that one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to 501(c)(3) organization—has been undone because it appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help desk. Thank you. Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page.
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I apologize for not having followed the rules and regulations for Wikipedia. I have now familiarized myself with these rules and intend on being in compliance henceforth. I do not receive any compensation from any current or anticipated future entity from any edits or posts I intend on making. I am an Iraqi/ Norwegian individual living in the USA who brings a unique perspective to the wikipedia community and hope to be part of this family. The user name that I am now using connotes no promotional entity and I intend on not making any future posts that are promotional in nature. Please unblock me

Decline reason:

I don't think that you are just an admirer of the organization, you wrote "We have added a section labeled Examples of Muslim 501(c)(3) organizations and we have provided two URL references." You'll need to explain who "we" is and tell what edits you will make that are unrelated to this organization. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 07:18, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

So you are not employed by PACC? 331dot (talk) 22:25, 1 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No, I am not employed by PACC. I am an admirer of the organization and have seen their positive influence on my local community first hands.

Request reason:

To whom this may concern. I have had my explanations for pleading my case of being unblocked unjustly declined. I will reiterate that I am not employed by A Continuous Charity. As the admin who reviewed my case is having a hard time trusting me, please private message me and we can schedule a phone or video call so I can assuage your concerns. That should show you I am not deceiving you. To answer your other request, I intend to make future edit contributions and original content to the global Wiki family that are in line with our values. See how I used “our”? “We” and “our” are used when you belong to a community. Will you allow me back into our community or will you treat me with a “one strike and you’re out policy”? I am very much looking forward to your response.

Accept reason:

User has agreed to abide by the rules. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 16:12, 25 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You said and I quote: "we are a non-profit we do not receive any monetary compensation for our work"; no-one talks about a community like that, you specified it was work showing that you are afiliated so either you lied about work or are lying now which is it. Lavalizard101 (talk) 16:09, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

English was not my first language learned: I do not appreciate being judged. I feel like I am being judged here by you explicitly stating I have lied. Is Wikipedia only for perfect English language users? Yes I wrote all the words you have reported. I do not work for ACC. Is bias accepted here? I have explained my reasoning and offered to speak to you to clear this all up. You have declined my attempts at this. You have not given me an opportunity and treated me unfairly despite my best efforts. In the real world, when things like this happen you speak directly to a person to clear this matter. Please allow me that opportunity. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pacc2019 (talkcontribs) }

Wikipedia matters are not handled off-wiki; you may say anything you wish to say about this matter here. You specifically said "we are a non profit"; the "we" in that statement includes the person making the statement. If you have any association with ACC, be it you work for them, or you volunteer for them, or anything, please tell what it is. Otherwise, explain why you suggested you were part of this organization when you aren't. Using "we" would be a very poor error for you to make. 331dot (talk) 09:52, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • See how I used “our”? “We” and “our” are used when you belong to a community - that's correct but actually makes us (here that's the pool of reviewing admins) more nervous - you considering yourself part of the PACC "community" indicates either a PAIDCOI, or, at a minimum, a volunteer working for them. As 331dot notes it would be very strange to handle this off-wiki, and nothing in this instances makes me think this should be an exemption. If you do continue editing on Wikipedia, you'll continue to at least occasionally have disagreements - we all do. Those have to be handled on-wiki, in text - you won't be able to handle them in another way. Even to the degree that any off-wiki communication happens it's not by phone or zoom call, it's still by email. Nosebagbear (talk) 16:10, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate multiple admins weighing in on this matter. Certainly, as it is clear to you all and is now being asked specifically, I am a volunteer who is unpaid by this nonprofit organization. As I have familiarized myself with the rules that were unknown to me before, I kindly ask that I be unblocked so that I can participate in the Wikipedia community and be a responsible, rule-abiding, and respectful member. If your policy is that you use a one strike and you are out sort of thing, then that would be unfortunate but I really would have nothing else to appeal at that point, would I? Thank you for your time engaging me as you have done to this point

Why did you lie and initially claim to be a mere admirer of the organization? We don't have a one strike policy, but you must demonstrate that you understand why you were blocked and agree not to repeat the same errors. In this case, that will require you to agree to not edit about PACC- not permanently, but until you build up a good edit history in other, unrelated areas showing that you understand Wikipedia guidelines and what article content consists of. Someone else will review your request, so it's not up to me, but most likely that is what is going to be asked of you. 331dot (talk) 14:48, 13 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Per my mastery of the English language, I was not lying. Please stop suggesting this. As you seem to think that I was lying, then I understand why you would’ve blocked me to begin with. If your condition for unblocking me is that I will be asked to agree not to edit about the Pennsylvania chapter of a continuous charity, then I will agree to that. Please define, however, from now, what a good edit history is so that I know what to aim for to satisfy this and being in good standing for the community to then contribute to this continuous charity organization post edit that I would like to do in the future in the appropriate article as per Wikipedia rules— Preceding unsigned comment added by Pacc2019 (talkcontribs)

A good edit history is simply making edits according to Wikipedia guidelines. You don't have to know every guideline, (I don't know them all) but you should understand the five pillars and how to cite sources. 331dot (talk) 14:59, 13 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
