Terribly sorry about truncating your talk page - I'm not sure how it happened as I didn't even scroll down to that point. I'm still very much a newbie, and am still learning how to use Wikipedia. Ozhiker 12:29, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That looks like the typical symptoms of this bug. If you are using Firefox and the Google toolbar, please make sure you are updated to the latest versions of both. -- JLaTondre 12:41, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks - I did indeed have an out of date version of the Google toolbar in Firefox - all fixed now. Ozhiker 12:59, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

{[Pieman River]]

Good stuff - but with an assertion like that you'll need to do a cite! Sources are becoming the bugbear of some quite aggro editors who are tired of finding unverified items and will put a fact tag against that new bit you put in SatuSuro 01:05, 4 January 2007 (UTC) The once-common suggestion that it was named after a convict "The Pieman" Alexander Pearce who was responsible for one of the few recorded instances of cannibalism in Australia, is not correct. "The Pieman" was in fact Thomas Kent of Southampton, a pastry-cook who was transported to Van Diemen's Land in 1816. After a long series of offences in the colony, he was sent to the Macquarie Harbour penal settlement in 1822 but subsequently escaped, and was recaptured near the mouth of the river which now bears his nickname. we still got to get a source for the name attribution ... Gray Communications

A question: how does the Gray Communications page not met Wiki Notability Standards? I updated the Gray Wiki page back in December and continue to update it as I update the WHSV and TV3 Winchester pages to make sure the information is up-to-date. Most of the information is taken from the Gray Communications websites and the digital-only channels are from their station's websites themselves (as Gray's website is sometimes out of date). While some other information comes directly from the station's websites.

If the local websites and the company website is not the most reliable source, please tell me what is?

Rock on....SVRTVDude 22:57, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SVRTVDude, The reason that Gray Television doesn't meet the notability standard is not because it isn't notable, it's because the notability has not been backed up by appropriate references.
The article should provide evidence of one of the following:
1. The company has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the company or corporation itself.
2. The company is listed on ranking indices of important companies produced by well-known and independent publications.
3. The company's share price is used to calculate stock market indices.
Gray Television probably fits most of these categories (only one is needed), but references will put it beyond dispute. Please see the WP:CORP page for more details --Ozhiker 23:10, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Heya, I added a couple links....one from Yahoo, one from CNBC (for market info), one from Business.com, and one from The Hook, an independent newspaper in Charlottesville, VA on the story they did about WCAV/WVAW (WAHU wasn't bought yet when that was written). I hope the way I added them (at the top after the first sentence) is the way you were supposed to add reference articles...if not, you are welcome to change it...and let me know, so I can do it right next time. :o)

Galápagos edit

Hi, at 23:49, 23 January 2007 I rolled back some vandalism on Galápagos Islands only to find that at 00:08, 24 January 2007 you reverted part of it back in. I have reverted that, but cannot understand why you would want the Home of Bigfoot and They export rocks. back in the article. I'm assuming an error, but an curious. Cheers, Vsmith 01:46, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Whoops - 72.82.233.117 apparently vandalised the page several times - I reverted one of his edits, but apparently I was looking at a window of my watchlist that hadn't been refreshed for a couple of hours - I should have looked a bit more carefully. Sorry about that --Ozhiker 08:44, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK. But now, please explain why you just reverted the bigfoot bit back in again. Once was a whoops - twice and I begin to wonder. Vsmith 01:41, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, this is getting ridiculous - last night I was going through my browser history to find a page I'd visited the day before, and in going through those, my browser loaded the "editing Galápagos Islands, save button already clicked" page. I figured it was fine because it was just viewing my cache, but apparently not. I'm going to take Galápagos Islands off my watch list and clear out my history, so i don't stuff it up again by mistake, and I think i might now avoid using the popups revert button - its too easy save things without meaning to. Terribly sorry about this. --Ozhiker 08:38, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox

Welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for testing your editing skills at the Wikipedia Sandbox - it is important for new users to learn how to use Wikipedia and its functions; however when editing their please do not remove the Sandbox header because this is vital in letting other users aware that they can freely edit the page and they are at the right place for their editing tests too. Thank you for you understanding and I hope you enjoy contributing constructively to Wikipedia. Tellyaddict 14:57, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Um? - actually my last edit left the sandbox with just the header, however User:204.117.78.97 blanked the page right after me :

King Street Run

Hi, The King Street Run has previously been nominated for deletion and kept (only last september). Your AFD tag is just pointing to the archived discussion. If you want to re-nominate it, you'll need to point the tag to some other place for a new discussion (and probably provide a link to the old discussion. --Ozhiker 08:09, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Yes, I noticed that this morning. I didn't know how to create a current nomination, and I ran out of time as I had to get to work. Would you be able to give me some advice on how to set up a current nomination? SilkTork 11:36, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dr. Pepper and prune juice

Hiya - just a brief heads-up that I re-edited the passage that has come under attack by a certain user from Leeds recently (the same user that did some unsourced/reckless edits to Aereogramme going so far as to claim he was in the band to "prove" his/her point, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary - I digress). I won't go through the article history, as you can probably do that yourself and see what happened ;-) In any case, I re-edited the passage you changed because, by definition, when the manufacturer says "prune is not in it", that is the official version, whereas the contrary is the urban myth. "There are conflicting urban legends that Dr Pepper does or does not contain prune juice." sounds a bit too much like both versions are urban myths, which isn't quite true. So I hope you're okay with my recent edit, which reads: "There is a long-lived urban legend that Dr Pepper contains prune juice. However, according to the manufacturer, prune juice is not and never has been an ingredient of the drink." Clearly states what the urban myth is about, and clearly sates that, according to the manufacturer, that myth is false. Readers can then still make up their own minds if they need to. Best wishes --afromme 16:18, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pisco Edited

Hello! I Edited the Pisco article yesterday August 16, 2007 EAST. I placed the word "Original" in front of Peruvian Pisco, and you edited this and you left some message I needed proof for claim. So here is some proof: "Click here, About.com on Pisco" Secong the word Pisco comes from Quechua which comes from Peru, it is said to mean Bird. Sorry I had to left you this message but this upsets me, I am peruvian and if you haven't heard Pisco has officianly now being claimed as an Original Peruvian drink. The Peruvian Embasssy issued its Defense of the Peruvian Denomination of Origin "Pisco" - PDF. Chileans have responded with a spirited defense of their rights to produce and enjoy Pisco as a Chilean beverage-- so they produce it too but they do not own it. The question of ownership is based on the fact that Pisco was first produced in Peru during the time of the Spanish viceroyalty. So please If you could edit thiss back, and so that you don't end up with 100,000 angry Peruvians. IoI

missing source/refs in "Elgato" article

You added requests for both notability and missing refs in this edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Elgato&diff=prev&oldid=146482464

I'd like to help clear this up as I know the company well. However, it is not clear to me what parts needs refs. The product line, for instance, it quite publically present on their website and surely does not need refs, other than the link to the company web site at the bottom, or don't you agree?

Then, someone edited a few lines which were not too objective: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Elgato&diff=next&oldid=147279434

Was that the area you were concerned about? Would this edit then support the removal of the requests you added?

Furthermore, someone removed the "notability", without a reason later: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Elgato&diff=next&oldid=147845628

Is that OK? As you added them, I'd expect you'd also watch over these things?

Rowing Club Template

Looks good to me - I will try setting up a few clubs. If it needs more fields they will be easy to add. Someone might suggest a more generic Sports Club Template (or else just use this) Regards Motmit (talk) 15:52, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pisco

I'm aware of the problems people from Chile have over the situation of the Pisco. Nonetheless, I'm simply trying (or was trying) to find some links to verify a series of things. As of right now, I've made a temporary stop to my edits to my work, which has increased relatively since last time I tried to edit the article. In terms of the name of Pisco, I really think it's more than clear that the name was made as a result of the port city named Pisco (from which documentation proves the drink, back then known as "aguardiente," was exported from). Of course, at that time Pisco was not in the modern country of Peru, but rather in the Viceroyalty of Peru (which held large parts of South America). Also, quite obviously, Pisco is a common Quechua word as there are plenty of little birds in South America...but it is highly illogical to connect a meaning of little bird directly to the drink without there being an intermediate point (in this case the port city of Pisco). Now, just because I use my brain it doesn't mean I'm being biased, especially if I find sources validating the information.--MarshalN20 (talk) 04:47, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pisco

I think the page need some warning tag at the top but "conflict of interest" is surely not the best. There arelot of diferent tags to choose between, there must be some more adequate to the page. I have thought about wich country should be mentioned first.. Chile or Peru, and I prefer the alfabetical the order in the subsection titles because by aplying this we skip a lot unnessary discussion. If you dont belive me see Argentina-Chile relations where I also have made a lot of edits. Of course, inside the text two contiries should be alternating, not only for the "neutral thing" but also to make the reading more pleasant and less repetitive.Dentren | Talk 17:29, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merge Hash and Hashing

Hi, I saw your edit in Hashing page. I was wondering if Hash and Hashing could be merged as a single page, as both of them are disambiguation pages. VegPuff poke 14:49, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Before I make changes, I thought I'd let you know, the redirect for Piolet to an "Ice Axe" has broken links all over the internet/BitTorrent/FileShairing pages of Wikipedia, and has killed external inbound links coming from off-site articles, including direct links from Google. I'll be setting this to a disambiguation page within the next 24 hours so that there's atleast a stopgap for this issue. Lostinlodos (talk) 06:26, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

G'day mate! Thanks for your recent edit of Dynamic pressure. I agree that the lead is presently a bit cryptic, and too reliant on maths. In fact, there is a lot of shortcomings with this article. Hi Ozhiker, I was wondering wether or not you could detach "St Chad's College Boat Club" from your Category that you made as I would want to create that as a page on its own instead of redirection to a section in St Chad's College, Durham.
