It's good to see a new editor interesting in writing about contemporary Native American people. If there's anything I can assist you with, let me know. When writing articles about Native people, it's often a challenge to establish notability, since the general public tend to not know who is and isn't notable within a tribal community. So many of the articles get threatened with deletion. One thing you might chose to do is create a user page for new biographies (for instance, User:Otonyona/royboney) and create a rough draft of your new article there. Make sure you have plenty of references in line before you actually publish the article, which will help establish the notability of the subject and protect it from deletion. Best of luck! Uploading Images
Go to Wikipedia commons and create an account (I'd use the same username/password as Wikipedia for simplicity's sake). Once you are signed in, on the left menu, click on "Upload file." You can read up on what is legal to upload, but if it's your own work, click on "It is entirely my own work." Read the info, browse to select the file from your computer. In the summary you can add dates and permissions. From the liscensing bar, choose one (I'd advise reading up on the various liscensing, for instance you can waive all rights and make it public domain (second to bottom). For categories, click on the "+" and start typing in logical categories (e.g. Cherokee or Oklahoma). After each one, click "Ok", and click "+" if you want to add more. Then click on the box for "Watch this file" and finally "upload file".
Now once you have the file uploaded, copy the title, e.g. "File:Suzan shown harjo 09.jpg". Go the article in Wikipedia that you want to add the file to, say Suzan Shown Harjo. In edit mode, find the general area you want to the image to go and paste it in double brackets. You can tailor the image by adding information after the name, separated by a vertical line "|", such as "File:Suzan shown harjo|right|thumb|240px|Suzan Shown Harjo" (all within double brackets). If you add "thumb" then any text you write at the end becomes the caption. You can experiment on your user page, User:Otonyona.
