Hello. I am primarily a user of Wikipedia, but I find pages that need copyediting or have obvious vandalism often enough that I decided to get an account instead of just doing anonymous edits. Bertrand's ballot theorem changes
I've asked for input on the article Bertrand's ballot theorem and have made some changes that will hopefully make the article clearer. Keep in mind that the entire article isn't meant to be understood by everyone, a math article can't include a primer on mathematical terms and methods. But I think someone without special knowledge should at least be able to understand the problem and the statement of the theorem and hopefully that is the case now.--RDBury (talk) 18:55, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
- I do understand the need to have a base knowledge to comprehend some of the more technical articles. Unfortunately, a person with thorough knowledge of a subject may sometimes write using style and terms that are difficult to grasp with only a tyro's grasp of the field. It is my impression that the goal of Wikipedia is to keep articles as accessible as possible given their subjects- please correct me if I am mistaken, as I have a somewhat hard time navigating through the policy pages. The article is much improved now, and should be comprehensible to anyone with a basic grasp of the logical terms used to describe the theorem- thank you very much for the time and effort. :-) Nightsmaiden (talk) 20:22, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Variations in English
Hi, I noticed you changed some spelling on the article Bat from British English to American English. Because this is simply "English" Wikipedia, not "American English" or "British English" Wikipedia, articles can be written in several varieties of English. Once the variety has been established for a given article, it should not be changed without good reason. I have therefore changed your spelling changes back to the way they were before. You can identify if the English variety has been established or not by looking at the talk page of the article. For Talk:Bat for example, at the top there is a box that says "this article is written in British English". To learn more about this specific policy, see WP:ENGVAR.
