Jainism in Karnataka, Chandragiri/Vindyagiri

Neveen, Looks like you have done a fine job here. I have a splendid book on this topic (Making of South Karnataka, Dr. Malini Adiga) and sometime in 2007 (not sure when) I intend to fall headlong into this topic, after a trip to Shravanabelagola. We should work together at that time and nicely tie up Jainism in KA/Shravanabelagola/Kambadahalli/Western Ganga Dynasty and work towards a featured article. Untill then, keep up the good work. Good luck.Dineshkannambadi 14:52, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jainism in KA

This is how we need to structure the page (I think this will under go change-open to ideas) This is a big topic and may take a long time to develop.

  • Jainism in Karnataka
    • Early History (300BC to 500AD)
    • Medeival History (500AD-1000AD)
    • Late medeival History(1000-1500AD)
      • Decline (in Hoysala/Vijayanagar time)
    • Modern Histroy(1500-date)
    • Pilgrim places
      • Shravanabelagola (with main article link)
      • Kambadahalli (with main article link)
      • Others
    • Jain festivals
      • Mahamasthakabisheka
    • Jain architecture briefs
    • Jain Literature (Kannada/Prakrit).Dineshkannambadi 16:50, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Did you see the note Sameer Khan (an expert on languages, here in USA I think) left on the Hoysala talk page about the pronounciation of "Hoysala". I was a bit confused about what he wrote. Was this what prompted you to make the change on Hoysala page? I cant see the script on my laptop at work. I will go home later and see if it looks ok.Thanks.Dineshkannambadi 17:58, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Location of Belur/Halebidu

While the location of these two towns on the map in their respective pages is fairly correct, there seems to be a jumble of latitude/longitude numbers on top of the map. Do you know how to clean this up.thanks.Dineshkannambadi 19:03, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Dinesh is a seasoned editor and has been working really hard in getting articles to FA standard"

Ur seasoned editor is so indecent to remove the cited info. Plz make him understand that it is wrong and it accounts to vandalism. Vishu123 10:41, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An article which you started, or significantly expanded, Jaya Bharata Jananiya Tanujate, was selected for DYK!

Updated DYK query On January 4, 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Jaya Bharata Jananiya Tanujate, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

No problem. When you create new articles on India, do take a couple of seconds to add it to WP:INBIN (the "its new" India pages).Bakaman 23:10, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

hello, i know ur a friend of Mr.Kannambadi who's reverting on his behalf. May be his sockpuppet.. i request u to avoid removing cited info. I think u must see 'what r u removing' before u do the honors. If u have any problem, plz see senior wikipedians and i am ready to justify mine edits. Thank you. Sarvabhaum
The so-called confirmed sockpuppets theory is obselete and conspired. If anyone wants I can prove that i have not done anything against wikipedia rules.
If u have any problems with citations,do see a senior wikipedian. Either u dont understand the text or as evident,ur a sockpuppet (it doesnt take much to accuse like u and ur friend has been doing it) of u know whom.

I guess I updated correct info on Bangalore. Why was it deleted?

Pune edits

Either remove links at all (No internal links either, cos there aren't wiki pages for same) of keep external links. As these pages are created we can convert external links to internals.

Keeping dangling internal links wont help the article to improve.

spacejuncky 13:31, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As most of the links are links to commercial sites, It is a violation of Wikipedia's linking policy (WP:EL). If there are no wikipedia articles links, then rather not have links to such articles. Moreover, the external links are irrelevant to the article.

I agree to what you say but than why are you keeping those links dangling. I am removing their internal links completely. spacejuncky 04:58, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please see if you have time to write a good page on this topic. Its worth a DYK. The current article that goes by two names Vachanas and Vachana do no justice to this important topic. Eventually, we need to have topics like Kavirajamarga, Vachana, Dasa sahitya, Ragala, Sangatya, Tripadi, Shatpadi, Champu etc all lined up in Kannada literature article.thanks.Dineshkannambadi 15:06, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Greater Bangalore

Hi Naveen,

Good job on expanding this article! As of now, I can think of hooks such as the very definition of Greater Bangalore, and the inclusion on 969 sq km. However, DYK suggestion criteria clearly tells that, article needs to have atleast 1500 characters (displayed, not edited), excluding infoboxes, statistics, references and external links. So I think, the article is somewhat in borderline. Any expansion further would help. Please keep expanding it bit more, and I will try and see a much better hook (if any) and nominate. Thank you! - KNM Talk 07:17, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Popular legend

I am not interested in popular legend but rather in temple history and temple architecture. (See Hoysala architecture for which we just got FA status.) Also, in our temple architecture articles we keep Trivia sections out. We follow strictly WP:ATT. The whole direction and tenure of the article I started was completely changed just after I started it. Someone just snatched it up without even consulting me and made it into a totally different article. I have never had that happen before, a people are usually very considerate. I would prefer to take the part I was doing out and let others write the article as a popular culture article. Sincerely, Mattisse 19:49, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reply:Karnataka template

Hello Naveen,
Welcome back! Good to see you active again on WP. Hope things are going fine with you. Sure, I will look into the template and set it to hidden mode, by default. It is possible. Thanks, - KNM Talk 16:50, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is topics&diff=prev&oldid=140989877 done! Take a look at {{Karnataka topics}}. - KNM Talk 16:58, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, well. You must be kidding then. I haven't been active on DYKs or FAs. While Dinesh has continued his excellent marathon on FAs, Amar has done outstanding job on DYKs. Hope you have seen the "Significant Milestone...." section above in this page. However, Karnataka article has been a combined efforts from several editors of Karnataka WikiProject and it is the first collaboration. The article is in peer review stage now, and should be there in FAC soon. See if you can improve the article or discuss the improvements in the article talk page. - KNM Talk 17:03, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks for the kind words on my talk page, welcome back!!! Hoping to work with you for many more DYKs and FAs on Karnataka-- Amarrg 17:39, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

South asian television channels template

Hi. This template is a mishmash of different language channels. The comments on its AfD were to create multiple templates based on language which would be more useful as a navigation aid. If you can assist with this process, then please do so (maybe for the Tamil language channels only). Thanks. → AA (talkcontribs)17:29, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Karnataka

Hello Naveen,
Good to see you in action again. Thanks for addressing that issue on districts/divisions on Karnataka FAC. The newly added section looks much better than the one we had about couple of months back. Also the image you have added, adds more value to the text suport. Good job! Thanks again, - KNM Talk 16:01, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
