Dear Phil (or Whoever Else is Tracking This Page), I've decided that it's time to start experimenting with updating the Samuel Daniel page on Wikipedia. So I'm going to post a draft of the lead section, along with references. I'll be interested to see how it works. Feel free to offer comments. David Weiss (aka Musophilus)
Samuel Daniel
Samuel Daniel (1562-1619) was an English poet, playwright, and historian in the late 16th and early 17th centuries.[1] He was an innovator in a wide range of literary genres, including the sonnet cycle, the shorter narrative historical poem, the English epic, and epistolary verse. His best-known works are the sonnet cycle Delia, the epic poem The Civil Wars Between the Houses of Lancaster and York, the dialogue in verse Musophilus, and the essay on English poetry A Defense of Rhyme. He was considered one of the preeminent authors of his time and his works had a significant influence on contemporary writers, including William Shakespeare.[2]

I'm a bit confused about how to name a citation/reference and then to add another reference to it but with a different page number. I'm sure I can do some digging in the various manuals of style, but I figured I'd put this out there in case someone responds to this before I do some more digging. I also see that I have this set up with just a set of footnotes and not a reference list. Perhaps the mechanics of this will all become clearer as I begin editing the article itself.
