New Page Patrolling

Hi. Thank you for patrolling new pages. I see you recently patrolled Kunshan Senior High School. As a New Page Patroller, there are a lot more things you can do for this page to help it on its way. Please see WP:NPP and WP:WPSCH. Thanks, --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 13:26, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

New Page Patrolling

Thank you for patrolling new pages. I'm just letting you know that Connect To Friends' World (FOCUSA2Z) is an A7 non notable web site. Please be sure to check the references for notability and reliablity when patrolling pages. For more information please see: WP:NPP. Thanks. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 13:33, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

It may be non-notable, but it does make a "credible claim of importance" - "is one of highest viewed social networking site operated from North East India." I've left the speedy tag because that claim isn't supported by evidence (though I'm not sure whether that is actually necessary for speedy deletion). --Mrmatiko (talk) 15:45, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
Did you run a Google check to see if those claims are substantiated? --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 16:11, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
It doesn't look true, and I agree that it should be deleted, I'm just not sure whether speedy deletion under WP:A7 is valid in this case. After looking at the criteria for A7 it seems that evidence isn't necessary, the claim just has to appear credible. If it said "is the highest viewed..." then automatically credibility is suspect and A7 is obviously the way to go. The problem here is the use of the words "one of", how do you assume the credibility of that sort of claim whilst also assuming good faith? --Mrmatiko (talk) 16:26, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

Gut feeling? --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 16:31, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for being so patient while I worked through that. Two areas that I've spent quite a bit of time with are new page patrolling & determining suitability of speedy nominations so I suppose that I flip between deletionism & inclusionism which can cause some strange internal conflicts. Thanks for the nudge. --Mrmatiko (talk) 16:44, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
When patrolling new pages, we have to do it neutrally and objectively and put aside our own philosophy of what we think should be kept and what should be deleted. That said, there isn't always a bright line, that's why I said 'gut feeling' - it's important to look at the creators other edits and weigh up in you mind if this is from a serious editor or an SPA. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 17:43, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for your help. I'll force myself to take more time per page when patrolling. --Mrmatiko (talk) 17:48, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for that - I was beginning to feel a bit fed up. Vrenator (talk) 18:21, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

As I said, you are a very valuable editor and Wikipedia is a much better place thanks to your contributions. --Mrmatiko (talk) 18:27, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

A beer for you

Thankyou for participating in my request for adminship. Now I've got lots of extra buttons to try and avoid pressing by mistake... Redrose64 (talk) 15:22, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, congratulations on your adminship, you'll be great. --Mrmatiko (talk) 15:41, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Re: Created an article

Thanks a ton mate. Appreciate your advice. Will make those changes. Varunr (talk) 12:01, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Thank you :-)

Thanks very much for the brownie; it was very delicious ;-) Thanks for making a newbie feel welcome. I guess I should have been more 'bold' and just completely removed the comments about Tay Zonday's looks; the only reason I didn't was because I saw that someone had tried to remove them in the past only to have their edit immediately reverted, (although looking back it was only on the grounds that the comments were "funny" - not a good reason). Just didn't want to piss anyone off since I am new here. Thanks for removing them. Have a great day. MsBatfish (talk) 08:51, 21 October 2011 (UTC)

No problem, if you ever need any help just ask here on my talk page and I'll see what I can do. --Mrmatiko (talk) 14:24, 21 October 2011 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification

Hi. In Ashraf Khan Khattak, you recently added a link to the disambiguation page Bijapur (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Your talk page archive

Hello, I've moved "User talk:Mrmatiko/Archive 2/" to User talk:Mrmatiko/Archive 2, because page names shouldn't end in a slash. Hope you don't mind. Graham87 04:13, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

Not at all, thanks. I didn't realise I'd done that. --Mrmatiko (talk) 06:58, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

Connor Lade

Ok thanks mate for telling me. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 17:18, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

The article Cyrus Pahlavi has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
