Greetings Mnemopolus - thanks for your note on my talk page. And thanks for being so damn reasonable about my sarcasm. I'm usually much friendlier :) but you caught me on the rebound. Don't want to bore you with details, but I'm actually a deletionist at heart, but 'cos I've seen so many highly notable figures put up for AfD - and in most cases being kept when people "in the know" actually get to see the article - I sometimes find it hard to AGF and therefore tend to be suspicious of borderline notable AfDs. On the other hand, Wikipedia is notoriously rich in articles related to sexy folks from the worlds of pop music and sport, but worryingly poor in articles on folks from sexless fields - no offence - such as the sciences, academia, and the like. Re. the chappie in question, I was going by the guideline "more notable than the average", which is, of course, highly subjective - but so is much of the stuff here... Cheers! --Technopat (talk) 17:07, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

PS. As you point out, you're in science, and by your standards, the guy in question is "pretty run-of-the-mill". But what soccer/baseball club doesn't have its full team up here? All things being equal... but some are more equal than others - or am i misquoting, again? Cheers! --Technopat (talk) 17:17, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
you raise a good point. The current emphasis on pop music and sport is unfortunate, perhaps, and at any rate, is lop-sided. There should be more scientist bios on wikipedia. If I have time, hopefully I can alleviate this deficiency a little by contributing some articles. Thanks, too, for taking the time to reason and to explain your position. I'm all for new articles on notable subjects. Beware of COI, though :) If you need an objective 2nd opinion, drop us a line. Cheers! --Technopat (talk) 17:12, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
