Malta Medical Students' Association‎

Information icon Hello, Mmsaito. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Malta Medical Students' Association, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your circle, your organization, its competitors, projects or products;
  • instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Drchriswilliams (talk) 21:01, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest in Wikipedia

Hi Mmsaito. Thanks for disclosing your relationship with the Malta Medical Students' Association‎.

Two things.

First, you very clearly have a conflict of interest in Wikipedia with regard to the MMSA. If you are a medical student, I hope that you have been taught about the importance of COI in scholarly works. It is important here too, and we have a policy, WP:PAID, and a guideline, WP:COI, governing COI here. Please read that policy and that guideline.

Second, your assumption - and it is an assumption - about the article that you expressed here: "The changes done to our page are unacceptable. Please redo the information deleted. We have considered your changes as an attack on our association which isn't fair. We should have been consulted before such changes where done and if there were any mistakes or information which wasn't as it should, we would have done the necessary alterations." - this is completely wrong. No one in Wikipedia "owns" any article in Wikipedia. Read WP:OWN, which is policy.

Once you have read those two policies and the guideline I linked above, please write back to me here on your Talk page, just below here, and let me know where things stand. Please do not continue editing the article while this discussion is underway. Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 21:45, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No interest or profit

Dear Jytdog and drchriswilliams

True I am the IT officer of MMSA and previous PRO of MMSA. So I agree that makes me a person with interest to the organisation. However, the information inputted on the page was data gathered internally and placed on the page not to promote or gain any profit, but simply to make other students who wish to know how MMSA works, more knowledgeable. The information removed from the website took days to be gathered from previous Board Members and I still don't understand why it was removed. <REDACT> I believe that such changes were too excessive, especially the removal of the names of previous Board Members for no reason what so ever. Who better can input information on the organisation if not people or students who are within the association? As least if you remove information, replace it with correct info.

Would you please let me know if you have read PAID, COI, and OWN? I am not going to discuss content with you until we clarify some things. In the meantime, stop making personal attacks on the other editor - I have redacted them. Do not repeat them. See WP:NPA. The only problem here is your understanding of how this place works. Once we get clear on your status and who owns articles, we can discuss the relevant behavioral and content policies. Please do reply and let me know that you have read two policies and the guideline. Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 22:15, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

By that he means read WP:PAID, WP:COI, and WP:OWN. ThePlatypusofDoom (Talk) 20:49, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
