Implicit equations

Hello. I don't quite understand your remark at Talk:Root-finding algorithm. What do you mean by implicit equations? Are there equations not of the form $f(x)=g(x)$? Could you give an example? Cheers, Jitse Niesen (talk) 15:35, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
