Ok, thanks. But what was inaccurate in the article? Foant 09:04, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Um, sorry about that, im not such a good speller. :( Foant 13:54, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Hi Mexaguil,

I noticed you asking on the Pump about setting up a Wikiproject about Ports. Now personally I don't know my port from my starboard or sherry, but I thought you might like a heads-up that the Picture of the Day on the 30th will be of Long Beach. It is only relevant because the caption currently has a big red link to the Port of Long Beach, which surprised me given the claim that it is the 10th busiest port. -- Solipsist 10:02, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Nice job. -- Solipsist 13:07, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Henri Louis le Chatelier

why did you delete the statement that Le Chattelier did experiments on the chemical secretions of insects? Mexaguil 08:24, 2 May 2005 (UTC)

I made some research to write the French article about Le Chatelier and I did not a single information about that. Le Chatelier was a chemist who works on a lots of industrial subjects and in particular (but not only) on metallurgical problem. He carried out also some fondamental research. The insect secretion does not really fit with that. But of course, I may not have all the information. Romary 18:49, 2 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hola. I hadn't realised that capping stunts were specific to NZ. I've reworded the Waiheke Island article, primarily to make it read suitably for someone viewing it after the event is long over; we'll update it in a few days when this is proven to be a hoax or otherwise, but it might be picked up by a mirror site in the meantime.
Are you in Auckland? I'm looking for someone local who speaks Spanish as I'm currently attending classes; I'm not yet confident enough to try to make conversation but it would be nice to have some contact with a fluent speaker.-gadfium 08:58, 13 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

diabetes

re:[1] It's alright to have a diabetes page that covers the common elements of all forms of DM, but "type 1" diabetes and "type 2" diabetes should also have seperate pages (not just a section of the DM page). Matt 15:34, 27 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Either you didn't remember to log in, or somebody is impersonating you on the Talk:Four_wheel_drive page.

In any case, all the good four-wheel-drive vehicles are not SUVs. (IMHO) The Audi A8 is a damn fine vehicle, driving all four wheels with a system (center Torsen differential) that is superior to almost all SUVs sold today. Lots of minivans drive all four wheels. Then there are the exotic sports cars from Ferrari, Porshe, and Lamborghini, including the Lamborghini Murciélago with a ground clearance of about 2 inches.

Kill Bill -- spoiler?

i'm sensitive to spoilers, but i've never understood the whole "beatrix kiddo" mystique. i think the bleeping was a ridiculous affection, and the eventual revelation of her name (in vol. 2) even worse. to me, it's almost the same as finding out her social security number. who cares? there's no link to anything else in the story, far as i can see.

but if it is a spoiler, as you've mentioned yourself, then it's a spoiler for vol. 2, not vol. 1. yes, you've placed the Beatrix Kiddo link under a spoiler warning, but it's in the vol. 1 section. if for some reason somebody considers that true spoiler information, and he's seen vol. 1 but not vol. 2, that link is giving away a spoiler from vol. 2. an unusual situation, but worth considering.

my opinion is that it's not a spoiler, and that it's a dumb, over-hyped detail of the series. however, if it is a spoiler, i encourage you to consider keeping it completely unrevealed in the article until after a spoiler warning for vol 2.

confused now? SaltyPig 23:06, 2005 Jun 1 (UTC)

North Albany Football Club

Although I haven't heard of the North Albany Football Club, when I read the article it seemed rather obscure so vandalism didn't occur to me. Just because you can't find a google reference doesn't mean that the club exists. I'll look into it and get back to you, thanks for bringing it up. --Commander Keane 10:12, 27 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright photograph

It is my understanding that you can upload the image to Wikipedia (but not to Commons) provided that you state how and when the copyright holder gave permission for its use. In this case, it seems that the owner is still asserting their copyright and it is unlikely that the image will survive with such text upon it. If you want to ask them to release the image under a more flexible licence check out Wikipedia:Copyrights#Using copyrighted work from others for a suggested format for that request. I hope that this helps. —Theo (Talk) 10:28, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Request for edit summary

Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 23% for major edits and 53% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 70 minor edits in the article namespace.)

This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 04:30, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Since you started the article, I thought I'd let you know that Capping stunt is at AfD. NickelShoe 20:11, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:South island 041.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. Unspecified source for Image:3872 l.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:3872 l.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

Untagged image

An image you uploaded, Image:Si)013.gif, was tagged with the {{coatofarms}} copyright tag. This tag was deleted because it does not actually specify the copyright status of the image. The image may need a more accurate copyright tag, or it may need to be deleted. If the image portrays a seal or emblem, it should be tagged as {{seal}}. If you have any questions, ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. -- 00:38, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

I noticed in Talk:Mammal that you requested a review of Mammalian Evolutionary Record, which was speedy deleted soon after.

I've added an article Evolution of mammals, because there's too much content to squeeze into the Mammal article. Please review and comment.

Once there's a reasonable degree of agreement about Evolution of mammals, I propose to reduce the "Evolution" section of Mammal to a link to and brief summary of Evolution of mammalsPhilcha 11:45, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Mexaguil! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 972 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

To WikiProject Ports members:

I've proposed that WP:PORTS be rebadged as a task force of Wikipedia:WikiProject Transport. I think this would increase the pool of ports editors and help us expand our article range and quality. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:13, 11 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Tara McDonald at 20th anniversary party for FG Radio.png

Thanks for uploading File:Tara McDonald at 20th anniversary party for FG Radio.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 19:37, 11 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Tara McDonald profile.jpeg

Thanks for uploading File:Tara McDonald profile.jpeg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 17:46, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
