Re: MC Employee here

No worries- I was just pointing out that we didn't have a concern with an employee of the company editing its own article, since you haven't edited it. (Those commenting at the discussion will have seen your user name, I was making it known that you hadn't been editing the article, just the discussion page.) MetaCarta

Why don't "top 100" awards for a company count toward notability in your assessment? Clearly, there are no more than 10-15 noted magazines that hand these out, so there will be maximum 1500 winners per year. This is from a pool of 150,000 small to medium enterprises, in other words less than 1% of the total pool, if that's not notable, what is? MetaCartaEmployee (talk) 19:23, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:CORP for details of what makes a company notable. Stifle (talk) 19:25, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Username

Your username could cause some problems as it presents a huge COI (Conflict of Interest) please for your sake change your user name. To do so go to WP:CHU. Failure to do so could result in a block of your editing privileges. You have already been reported to WP:UAA they may block you. If you agree to change your user name then the chances of that are a lot less likely. Rgoodermote

You do understand that you are not allowed to edit anything pertaining to MetaCarta? As long as you know this a name change is not needed. But I still insist you get a new user name and so do a lot of other people. Rgoodermote  23:52, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I'm picking a new username no problem. I absolutely understand that I'm not supposed to edit the page, that's why I chose the username in the first place. However, the discussion page is closed. I asked C.Fred how to restart something (see the discussion on his talk page) but I'm happy to take advice from any experienced editor. I do think that a MetaCarta page would be a worthy addition to WP because it passes the notability test with flying colors. Of the 150+ secondary sources listed on MetaCarta's "In the news" page at least half would be considered "significant" by any editor. I see lots of debates where an organization has only a handful of significant mentions, but the footprint is pretty large here... MetaCartaEmployee (talk) 01:19, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

When I get the time I will find sources not listed on the website. Those are considered POV. Till then edit other articles. If needed I'll point you to some. Only after name change. Rgoodermote  02:23, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
