Updating networth

I'm not doubting that it is well intentioned, but there is no need to update the net worth of Wang Jianlin, Stefan Persson (magnate) and others ever two days. Forbes updates them in real time using some sort of algorithmic model to value their assets; we don't need that level of precision. After all, they are only estimates. In any event, prefacing them with either "increase" and "decrease" is meaningless and possibly misleading, especially without giving the reader any sense of a timeframe. We use it for companies, as they have fixed reporting periods. And if you are going to update this info, then you also need to change the "accessdate" parameter.

I've created lots of articles on other billionaires, and many are sorely in need of expansion - such editing would be much more useful! Edwardx (talk) 10:13, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

Every month or two I typically go through Forbes' list of richest people in the world and update individuals' net worth. In reference to the using the "increase" and "decrease" arrows, I am not the one who started doing that, I am just following suit and mirroring other related articles. The access date info will be changed in future edits. Thanks, Meatsgains (talk) 16:06, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

@Nomoskedasticity: I'd also appreciate it if you would work with me on improving pages rather than just reverting each of my contributions (without reasoning) and giving me 3RR warnings. That's unconstructive. Meatsgains (talk) 18:18, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

A question about your Miss Cleo statement

Hi Meatsgains.  I have a question about your contribution to the Miss Cleo RFC.  In your last sentence you wrote:

  • By saying she "is a psychic" rather than she "describes herself as a psychic" we are avoiding stating opinions as facts.

I'm wondering if you possibly wrote the opposite of what you meant to write (putting the two quotes in the wrong order).  If so, then please feel free to go back and amend your entry to say what you meant.  If I'm misinterpreting what you wrote, then please forgive my misunderstanding.
Richard27182 (talk) 05:23, 20 August 2015 (UTC)

@Richard27182: Ah yes, thank you for pointing that out! Not sure how but I accidentally reversed the order of those quotes. I will go back and fix that mistake. Thanks again, Meatsgains (talk) 15:29, 20 August 2015 (UTC)

Sidney B. Linden

Can you please refrain from tagging Sidney B. Linden's page as an advertisement. The following guideline applies to this tag:

Add this to articles that need help from other editors because they sound like advertisements. For example, they may tell users to buy the company's product, provide price lists, give links to online sellers, or use unencyclopedic or meaningless buzzwords.

The advert tag is for articles that are directly trying to sell a product to our readers. Don't add this tag simply because the material in the article shows a company or a product in an overall positive light or because it provides an encyclopedic summary of a product's features.

The article on Mr. Linden does not read like an advertisement. It is not telling users to buy a product, provide a price list, or give links to online sellers. It does not use unencyclopedic or meaningless buzzwords.

If you believe this take in fact applies to the article, please elaborate with specific examples. If some other editorial tag appropriately applies to the article, please insert and I will address.

(ConflagrantCortex (talk) 19:28, 14 October 2015 (UTC))

@ConflagrantCortex: Please see Talk:Sidney B. Linden where I noted some of the promotional tone that should be condensed after adding the tag. Meatsgains (talk) 01:12, 15 October 2015 (UTC)

Your Revert on Zaha Hadid assuming WP:GF

Hi Meatsgains, I had some discussions with the same user in the Spanish Wikipedia about "sense or nonsense" of using that kind of sketches portraits in an encyclopedic article - always assuming "good faith". Later on, I discovered this website revealing that there might exist a hidden motive when he/she adds those sketches to the articles, the image clearly shows the name of the website. It can be interpreted as a kind of concealed promotion. Best regards. --Jkbw (talk) 00:48, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

@Jkbw: I didn't notice the website on the image when I initially reverted it. I just removed it because it was a "sketch" and a bit out of place being above the infobox. Thanks for letting me know! Meatsgains (talk) 20:15, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

Pershing Square Capital Management

Can you explain why you added Pershing Square Foundation to the Pershing Square Capital Management, especially after I previously reverted an edit adding it with reasons why it shouldn't be added? You added the exact same text which was cited to the foundation's own website. It is not clear there's any connection between the investment firm and the foundation (besides Ackman). Can I ask if you have any connection with Pershing Square? It seems like an odd thing to add to the investment company's page. FuriouslySerene (talk) 18:38, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

We can provide additional references if we need to and I will also gladly do so. The notable connection between the firm and the foundation is Ackman himself. I'd like to know your reasons for why you don't think the foundation should be on the firms page ebsides claiming its just "not relevant"? And no I don't have any connections with Pershing Square - don't even go there. Meatsgains (talk) 20:05, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
Because sharing a CEO doesn't mean they're related at all. There's nothing about the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation on Microsoft. There's nothing about the Buffett Foundation on the Berkshire Hathaway page. This seems sort of obvious to me. You also added it to the "Company history" section which doubly makes no sense. Just trying to understand what you were thinking there. And who's we? Do you mean Midas02? FuriouslySerene (talk) 21:33, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
Your explanation makes complete sense. I do not support adding it back. I may have jumped the gun a bit on restoring the content. Just seemed like relevant information to add to the page. And by "we" I mean me, you, the Wikipedia community. Meatsgains (talk) 23:08, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
Totally understandable. Sorry for asking if you had a connection with the company, and thanks for adding the comment on the talk page. FuriouslySerene (talk) 04:42, 6 November 2015 (UTC)

The Critical Badger has already been prodded once (it was deprodded by 137.28.54.100), so now it needs to go to AfD. I can't do that myself as I'm not a registered editor. 32.218.40.73 (talk) 03:15, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

As to the notability of the grade fraud exposure, see this edit. Edits referred to in that edit summary are these: [1], [2]. 32.218.40.73 (talk) 03:26, 12 November 2015 (UTC)
The Critical Badger is now up for AfD, see here. The page is not notable and is WP:COATRACK for the "grade fraud" scandal. Meatsgains (talk) 03:32, 12 November 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for your efforts on this. 32.218.40.73 (talk) 03:40, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

With all due respect to the Chicagoan editing local journalism pages in Wisconsin, it may not be significant to you, but for those who study and follow local journalism, the website had major significance. BlueOx003 —Preceding undated comment added 06:03, 12 November 2015 (UTC)
Take your arguments to the AFP submission where you'll need to prove with RS why the page is "significant". Just seems like coatrack to me as the only thing it is notable for is the grade fraud scandal. Meatsgains (talk) 14:59, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Help

Please nominate this item Pometenik to delete, I failed entirely to nominate. I will put a comment in the discussion for deletion. Thank you in advance.

Philipsontheevil (talk) 12:36, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
@Philipsontheevil: What is your reasoning for wanting to nominate the article for deletion? It could use some work but I don't see any reason to remove it. Meatsgains (talk) 14:49, 22 December 2015 (UTC)

@Meatsgains: The commands writes that the user has the right to request from the admin pages nominee for deletion. The reason is very large and should immediately nominate the page.Philipsontheevil (talk) 18:20, 22 December 2015 (UTC)

First, I am not an admin. Second, you haven't given a reason for why the page should be deleted. Meatsgains (talk) 18:54, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
