Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Alex Marcoux may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "MSquaredPR", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it appears to represent an organisation rather than an individual. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. noq (talk) 09:22, 22 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. I am interested in changing my name and submitted a request last month. Apparently whatever I did didn't work. did

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Request reason:

my name apparently sounds like a promotional company MSquaredPR (talk) 18:34, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

Decline reason:

It does indeed apparently sound like a promotional company name. Your proposed name also seems like a combination of two of the primaries for that firm. Accounts are only to be used by one person; not a group, not multiple people. You also seem to be engaged in paid editing. You can read a good set of guidelines here to help you with COI editing. I've left some follow up questions below that will need to be addressed as well in future unblock requests. Kuru (talk) 00:04, 16 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Here are a few key questions:

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. Kuru (talk) 00:04, 16 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This was my first article; I apologize if it appears I have not complied with the rules. I am certainly interested in correcting the problem.

In the creation of the “Alex Marcoux” page, there was no money exchanged. I am an associate of Alex Marcoux. My work is completely independent of Ms. Marcoux’s and in no way do I personally or professionally benefit from Ms. Marcoux’s public standing, so I do not see the conflict of interests.

Every fact laid out in the biography I wrote is verifiable and in no way embellished. Since this was my first attempt at using Wikipedia, I took great pains to tailor the article after other published author pages. I fully understand Wikipedia is a well-respected online encyclopedia and not a business directory. I chose to add Ms. Marcoux’s biography to Wikipedia because her accomplishments are noteworthy and interesting. She is the author of three novels and one non-fiction book, and has had her work published by four different publishers. The non-fiction book is currently being translated into Korean and will be released in Korea in May of 2015 by another publisher. Ms. Marcoux is a former scientist, credited with being instrumental in the development of Crystal Light for General Foods. She also testified to a Congressional committee about her previous employment at a tobacco company. Ms. Marcoux has since used her scientific discipline to create a unique nonfiction book. I certainly appreciate the difficulty of your job. If the article is not in compliance with Wikipedia guidelines, it is unintentional and I am interested in fixing the problem(s).

As far as the user name, I intentionally chose to use my business name in an effort to be transparent and not hide behind meaningless initials or an unrecognizable moniker. I am happy to change the user account name to something that does not appear to be promotional.

I hope my explanation has helped shed some light on the intention behind my creation of the page in question.

I am not sure if it is appropriate to mention this here I have placed a response regarding my user name and why I felt Ms. Marcoux is a noteworthy. I have copied portions of my response here, also.
