Thanks for the reply. Please note we need to proceed with caution. We are liable to 3rr too. Even if this person reverts again I'd advise that we wait until some action is taken at the 3rr report. Dalida charts

Hello, I made page Chart history of Dalida where I listed all of her charts alvaible on inernet, as Orlando is very short on releasing what he has in his archives. Regarding all counries except France, those charts are literally official as those countries led magazines that made "official" charts for that time, altho it was usual that those were oftenly modified by radio programmers. Further issue is in France; France never had continuous chart until 1984. Before that, there were some magazines and radio charts that give us some quite good material, like Bourse des chansons in 1950s or IFOP, so I used them to make Dalida chart page. Nevermind. To short the story, the real issue is this: as there is no clear websites that can be used as source, i listed a bunch of several official websites alongside with blogs that can be used as valid source because those people that run those blogs literally made extensive research. The last good revision of that page is here [1]. After that some user appeared and mixed everything. I talked to him on his talkpage but he just keeps mentioning some refrence style rules etc. Why cant my version be held, literally I spent hours of gruping and making sure each chart peak in some country can be checked by accessing the link with the desired country. Isn't that the purpose of citations, it is important to show the source and not just stand near its matching text... Help please Dalida Editor _{please ping or message me} 20:48, 21 June 2019 (UTC)

@DalidaEditor: To be honest, I cannot make out what the other editor thinks he is doing. The last stable version has a section for references, but there are no inline citations. You had put in a section for external links, but it would have been better to give this a Level 2 heading,thus:

The other editor has made your external links look like references based on inline citations, but they refer back to nothing at all. This is not standard Wikipedia practice, and so I think you would be justified in restoring the format you used in the first place, with the proviso that you make it clear that your external links are not part of the references section. In fact, as long as there are no inline citations, the references section could be suppressed using:

@DalidaEditor: I hope you don't have any more trouble with this. I know you have put in a lot of effort into the Dalida articles and I agree with you that she is worthy of being remembered. I lived in France for much of the 1960s and she was a big name at that time. The other day I removed an ill-considered edit by an anonymous editor, because I think the wording in the lede ("... a French singer and actress, born in Egypt to Italian parents.") is just about right. Hello, LynwoodF. I'm just dropping by to see how you are, and that your health has improved. I was heartened to see that you're actually active at the moment, hence the missive while you're possibly online.

Keep up the good work, my friend. Wikipedia needs every good contributor. No matter how tired we get, the project is as valuable as every individual on this planet. We're creating and maintaining a free resource for those who can access the internet: not perfect, nor is much of the 'third world' in a position to access us, but that's just a matter of time. In a world of ignorance and prejudice, we may not be meaningful (nor have I ever aspired to place value on myself and my opinions), but our work is meaningful.

Good lord, there's your sunny thought for the day! This was intended to be a cheerful message to let you know that you, personally, are a valued member of team Wikipedia, and that you have Wikipedia friends in the community who are pleased to see your work on articles, and your thoughtful comments on talk pages. Hello, Iryna Harpy. Thank you for your message. I hope this means that your health has improved and you are back in harness. I am old now and slowing down a great deal. I do a lot less on WP, but yesterday an editor was looking for moral support. He/she (I know not which, but does it matter?) is a huge fan of someone I remember from my days in France more than half a century ago. I get annoyed when somebody's hard work is spoilt by ill-considered edits by the naïve and the biased.

With all the nonsense going on about Brexit here in the UK, we get little news about what is going on in eastern Europe, but, as you perhaps know, I have numerous contacts in Romania and I get the impression people there are jumpy about developments on their borders. I also have contacts in Ukraine, who are definitely uneasy about the future. An actor-turned-politician looks like a bit of a gamble, but then a pianist-turned-politician contributed to the renewal of Poland in my parents' lifetimes. I think trepidation about the future is norm now and, unfortunately, not without good cause. It's the big players who hold the balance of the day, but the region is a tinderbox... All we can do is hope that some form of stability and justice will evolve. As regards a comedian as the supreme leader, in all honesty he's not going to do a worse job than extremist nationalist oligarchs at the helm! Actually, I shouldn't be so hard on the post-communist paranoia as knee-jerk reactions are hardly an unanticipated phenomena. There are more reasonable, compassionate people than there are ignorant and dangerous ones, or so I must continue to believe in order to have faith in a good future for humanity wherever it exists on this planet. There is no stability in Eastern Europe if there is instability and exploitation in Africa or the Middle East.

Oh, well, growing old is a fact of life. I'm not exactly a yearling, but I'll keep trying to do my best and most honest until I cease to be. Keep being supportive of individual editors. Thank you for your message, Garuda28. I had a look at your contributions and realized that you were engaged in quite an exercise. I attended that school from 1952 to 1959, when it had a different name, and I wore the motto on my blazer and cap. So the school motto was more familiar to me than that of the RAF.
