Re: blocking

If a registered user gets blocked (in many cases due to a patently offensive username), and then attempts to edit after being blocked, whatever IP address that user is attempting to edit from gets automatically blocked for 24 hours. This appears on the Special:Ipblocklist as:

  • [SomeTimestamp] [SomeAdmin] blocked #[SomeBlockNumber] (expires [SomeTimestamp + 24 hours]) (Unblock) (Autoblocked because your IP address has been recently used by "[SomeBadUser]". The reason given for [SomeBadUser]'s block is: "[SomeGoodReason]")

This is intended to reduce the effect of vandals who vandalize with multiple accounts, whilst still protecting the privacy of their actual IP address. In the future, you can place something on your talk page like this:

{{unblock|my IP address was recently used by [SomeBadUser]}}

That will be get attention more quickly and effectively than e-mail. — Jun. 27, '06 [11:12] <freak|talk>

Your first GA nomination

I understand that this was your first GA nomination. Please don't be discouraged by the fact that I considered that the article you nominated did not pass GA criteria. Please consider improving the article and submitting it again. The GA review process is intended to be a lightweight process, and various reviewers may have various consideration, so one reviewer may consider the article didn't pass, while the other reviewer may consider it passed. I am also a newbie here, and some of my nominations also did not pass, but I improved them and nominated them again, so that they eventually passed. However, it always took a very long time until a reviewer picked up an article for review. Unfortunately, this is how it is here in Wikipedia: it takes time. So we, nominators, have to be patient. I have some of my articles do not being picked up for more than 3 months, and some articles take years to eventually pass after a failed GA review. You are great that you wrote such an interesting article! Keep up the good work, don't be discouraged! I am really sorry that I had to mark your review "did not pass". I hope you would not take it personally! Maxim Masiutin (talk) 22:15, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
