Hi there!
I had another look, and although it has improved it is still not good enough. Basically, the article still lacks sources, and claims such as "It is the largest publicly available database of such numbers." needs to be backed up by an external source for verification. In addition, the article never says anything about the importance of the project. As a reader and someone not familiar with the subjects mentioned, don't get to know anything about why this project is important, and what it's relevance is in context to other research and other distributed projects. If you have any independent references that can say anything about the importance of the project, this might be of some help. - I've read through the article again, and while better it's still not good enough. You still haven't got any sources that can verify the importance of the project, and this is something that is required for the article to be accepted. Below I've listed a few sentences you might want to expand, with some comments (in bold) from me.
- These ongoing work on the application analyzing status of water on Earth. OProject@Home uses data from NASA and NOAA satellites.
- Sounds good, but what is the importance of this, and what exactly is analyzed. Is it the amount of water, the temperature, the amount of contamination, salinity, or anything else? Has anyone external to the project written articles on this? If so, add these as references.
- The subprojects are running on the platform OProject@Home are important to science because they concern the difficult and unsolved problems. This applies to both physics and theoretical mathematics and even the climate.
- What are the difficult/unsolved problems, and in what way do they relate to physics, mathematics and the climate. If these are described in Wikipedia it would be a good idea to add links that points to them. How far away is the project from solving any of these problems, and what will the ramifications be when they are solved?
- The project has many goals. The main is to try to solve problems and storing the best results of the algorithms. A side effect is the development of high-performance algorithms and their implementations. The source code of the programs are open and available in the SVN repository on Google Code. All project results of the are available.
- Having an open-source model is good, but how can this help others? Has anyone else used data or algorithms developed by this project? You also write that the project has many goals; but what are the long term goals? Are you limited to the subprojects listed, or are there plans for other tasks as well?
- The article still can't be accepted, and it needs more context and references. An article should ideally be able to explain the subject and why it's notable for any person able to read english, and at present the article can't do this. Please try to find independent sources concerning this project, and try to address the points above. Please let me know if you want me to have another look at it later! - You've described the project quite well, but I still miss information on the impact this project will have. I am not familiar with for example weird numbers, so you should try to explain what impact this will have. How does it fit within the bigger picture? There is also a need for additional media references. I saw that SETI@Home mentioned your launch on Twitter, have they published anything as well on their website or in print? Have anyone else done anything similar? What about your University? Any other publications or web sites? The goal here is to find someone who has written a bit about the project, and what it means for science. If this doesn't exist, I'm afraid the project isn't notable enough for an article on Wikipedia (yet). Bjelleklang - talk 11:24, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
