Speedy deletion of Dormatitus

Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages such as Dormatitus, to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Terrillja talk 17:25, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Dormatitus

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Dormatitus, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Unencyclopedic essay

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Um, not to be discouraging, but this appears to be something somebody made up one day: see WP:MADEUP. There should be two or three references in independent media of national standing for this to be acceptable, and it's still an essay, not an encyclopedia article. There's no substantiation of the term at all. Unless you can provide substantial sourcing, I'm going to refer this to WP:Articles for Deletion]], but not right away. In any case, this is good practice for other contributions, and I don't want you to feel like you're doing something wrong. I encourage you to look at the guidelines for new articles listed at the top of the page, as the requirements may be more stringent than you expected. Regards, Acroterion (talk) 18:18, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In general, Google is your friend. We're looking for references in major newspapers or magazines, things like that. Take a look at our verifiability standards. I won't delete it myself, but I can't say that somebody else won't propose it for deletion. Personally, I see so much crap come through as new articles that it's refreshing to see somebody trying to make a good-faith effort, and I'm glad to help and provide encouragement. As it stands, I don't think it will last unless you find some solid references. Don't let that discourage you. Acroterion (talk) 18:40, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, already at AfD: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dormatitus. I don't think it will fare well there. Again, don't let that discourage you, and feel free to participate in the debate and ask for help. Acroterion (talk) 18:45, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

December 2008

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion. Thank you. Acroterion (talk) 17:44, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Acroterion. Appreciate your comments. Dormatitus is slang -- it has common use, at least at IU where I went to school. Wikipedia has so many different encyclopedias now. If it gets deleted, maybe I'll look for a more appropriate portal. It's just a fun article. Klasalle (talk) 20:24, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Dormatitus

An article that you have been involved in editing, Dormatitus, has been listed for deletion. If you are interested in the deletion discussion, please participate by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dormatitus. Thank you. Terrillja talk 18:44, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on The Foundry Lofts & Apartments, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. Hi again. I made some edits to the article, removing adjectives that might create a "promotional" feel. Again. I don't believe this article violates your editorial guidelines. There are multiple apartment articles in Wikipedia. If my article violates guidelines -- then all of these articles should probably be removed -- as well as reference to special events and whatnot. Thank you for your comments.I hope the edits are in accordance with your guidelines. Klasalle (talk) 20:16, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like you've had a rough time with your first few articles. Hope you'll stick around; you'll get the hang of it. IIRC, my first two articles were proposed for deletion as well. If you have any questions, drop me a line on my talk page. I notice you've already been in touch with Stevietheman; he was the one who helped me get acclimated, so he's a good resource too.
