If you look around, the MoS (Manual of Style) insists that we should not use ethnicity in the lead; instead, these facts can be placed in "Early life" (they are already there, in her case). Even Asians who become celebrities in America/respective Western countries just say, "Tang Eng is an American singer", not "Chinese American".
