Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Storms Creek requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, JosephBenning. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Symmes Creek, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Bbb23 (talk) 21:17, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you.
Apparently my “conflict of interest” wasn’t clearly articulated? Anyway, an unknown user created the painfully stagnant “Symmes Creek” page over a decade ago. We chose to bring Symmes Creek into the ‘20’s; modeling formats we found concerning paddling trails upon public waterways elsewhere.
The waterways of Lawrence County, Ohio, including Symmes Creek, were its original highways. Today, they’re popular paddling trails. We would like to add Storms Creek in Ironton; Ice Creek in Coal Grove; and Indian Guyan Creek in Braderick.
Respectfully,

Please follow the procedures outlined in the links above, and, above all, do not edit the article directly. If you have any questions about the procedures, ask them at the WP:Teahouse.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:16, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Kindly restore our Symmes Creek page edits.
For the record, there is no consideration received for my entire body of work with this not-for-profit organization. Yes, entirely volunteer. And when it concerns Symmes Creek, it’s unlikely there’s any living person holding a broader depth of knowledge on this subject.
The format we followed mimics existing Wikipedia paddling trail information we found upon other public waterways pages.
Unlike anonymous Wikipedia editors hidden behind pseudonyms; this subject matter expertise and organizational relationship is fully disclosed.
Furthermore, every edit at my hand includes a functional hyperlink with a credible citation.
And this-
“The United States Board of Geographic Names settled on Symmes Creek as the stream’s name in 1902. According to the Geographic Names Information System, it has also been known historically as ‘Simms,’ ‘Big Creek,’ and ‘Symms Creek.”
-was lifted without proper citation from Symmes Creek Restoration Committee’s _Arthur S. Ferguson Jr. Canoe Trail on Symmes Creek_ trail map.
You’re welcome. JosephBenning (talk) 23:15, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed your post to my Talk page. The procedures require that your request to alter the article be made with the template {{edit COI}} on the article Talk page, not here, and not on my Talk page.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:46, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
