Map of China colors

Hi, I am currently working on an SVG map showing languages spoken in China on the basis of your wonderful SVG map of China (File:China_blank_map.svg). However I just noticed, that you started using the recommended colors of the Wikipedia:WikiProject_Maps, but changed the brown shade of the sourrounding land to green. What was the reason for this change? Because of the vast amount of maps that have accumulated yet, I think we should stick to a uniform set of colors. The guys over at the Wikipedia:WikiProject_Indian_maps have done a really great job already based on the recommended colors, that I already mentioned. So is there in your eyes anything against using these same colors with the blank map of China similar to that one from India? Maybe it can serve as the basis for a similar project on Chinese maps in the future. • Madden (talk) 21:59, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the colours were changed because there were complaints that it was difficult to distinguish between disputed areas the PRC controls and disputed areas the PRC doesn't control. So it was really just to make it easier to distinguish different areas by using more contrasting colours. --Joowwww (talk) 13:30, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What do you think about changing the colours back to match the WikiProject standards (change green back to light brown), but maintain a more contrasting colour for the disputed areas? • Madden (talk) 10:03, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Beijing Subway logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 03:40, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think you drew up the original map - but there is a (minor but irritating) problem in that it shows the Isle of Man and Channel Islands as part of the UK, which they are not. Any chance of correcting it? Ghmyrtle (talk) 10:09, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Credo Reference Update & Survey (your opinion requested)

Credo Reference, who generously donated 400 free Credo 250 research accounts to Wikipedia editors over the past two years, has offered to expand the program to include 100 additional reference resources. Credo wants Wikipedia editors to select which resources they want most. So, we put together a quick survey to do that:

It also asks some basic questions about what you like about the Credo program and what you might want to improve.

At this time only the initial 400 editors have accounts, but even if you do not have an account, you still might want to weigh in on which resources would be most valuable for the community (for example, through WikiProject Resource Exchange).

Also, if you have an account but no longer want to use it, please leave me a note so another editor can take your spot.

If you have any other questions or comments, drop by my talk page or email me at wikiocaasi@yahoo.com. Cheers! Ocaasi t | c 17:21, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Map of Cornish language decline

Hi, I noticed you made a map showing the decline of the language on the Cornish language page. I noticed the contours on the map are different to those in my version of the textbook you cited (The Celtic Languages ed. Ball). I was wondering if you could clarify which edition you used/where you got the data from? Thanks!Tif14 (talk) 10:12, 31 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
