Jiaur Rahman born in Murshidabad, a most important historical and geographical place of West Bengal, India in 1979, the district where were born the famous artists Indra Dugar and Kshitindra Nath Majumdar. Also was born here the famous historian and Archaeologist Rakhaldas Bandyopadhyay who is famous as the discoverer of Mahenjodaro, the principal site of the Harappa culture.

Jiaur Rahman earned his B.V.A. (Bachelor of Visual Arts) degree from Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata in 2003. He makes figurative paintings depicting the tribal and rural culture of Bengal using bright and vibrant acrylic paints. He also likes to paint images from nature using transparent watercolours. Jiaur has participated in several group shows in India and South-East Asia, and has had solo shows in Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Pune.
