H.N.T.T.M.M
Hawaii's Next Top Teen Male Model, often abbreviated as H.N.T.T.M.M., originated from America’s Next Top Model, a show created and hosted by veteran television personality, supermodel and talk-show hostess, Tyra Banks, who also serves as the lead judge and executive producer of the show. Banks wanting to expand the phenomenon decided to create a “male junior” version which touched the states of California, New York, Texas, Hawaii and Florida. But, for Hawaii scouting for aspiring teen male models was a challenge finding them at beaches, surf contests and even malls. Out of all the islands of Hawaii, the scouts found 150 qualified teen males ranging in ages 13-18. All the models met at the Hilton HawaiBj Village in the heart of Honolulu and was put through a series of qualifying test. After that the 150 teens were cut down to the top 50, then top 20, then the final 12.
It was a long and hard journey, but for the one model who proved himself worthy won a $150,000 contract with Quiksilver, Billabong and Localmotion. The winner also won management and representation by Homme International Model Management, a Hawaii-based with booking affiliates in San Diego, New York, and Paris. Homme International Model Management is also a branch of Elite Model Management, one of the worlds best modeling agency.

The Makeovers
The boys enter the competition changing everything starting with there hair. Some of the boys also had acne problems, so they were given treatment. The boys were also given teeth whiting and some inserted contacts. After makeovers the boys did a shirtless shoot to show off there new do's.

Top 20
This was the first time the top 20 boys could show how well the photograph. They took pictures in a picture booth. The reason why was one, so they didn't get nervous in front of lights and photographers and the judges also wanted to so what they knew about taking a good photograph. Sol and Yvonne at deliberation says none of these pictures stand out to them at the moment but Jade and Thomas disagreed and knew exactly who they thought should be in the top 12. All four judges decided on 12 boys that had enough potential to be in the top 12. The judges looked at previous test and stastics. At elimination the Sol Kahn told the 8 boys that didn't make it to keep trying, if they made it this far they can make it even farther somewhere else if the strive and is committed to improving himself. That is what a male model is.

The Calendar
The day after makeovers the competition started to get serious. The boys left the hotel and was escorted to secret HawaiBj beach. There, they were told they were going to do a photo shoot on the beach for the 2008-2009 Boys of Hawaii Calendar. They also had was told they would take a second picture that would be judged along with the Calendar photo.

The photographer said "Today's shoot was overall good but there was a few that struggled to deliver but well so what happens at judging." After reviewing the pictures the judges agreed that Ian seemed to be "the front-runner" for this shoot who was followed by Bj and Jacob. The judges agreed that Bj's eye-brawl raise contributed a lot to the photo, but they also agreed that he doesn’t know when and when not to use it. The judges also decided that Jacob would be a really great photo model but when it comes down to runway modeling he is to short but he has the personality and character for it. But for the bottom two the judges felt that Kainoa and Alika failed to deliver in both shoots. Alika was saved because the judges felt that he was just timid during the shoot and feels like he has more potential than Kainoa. In Kainoa’s exit he said “well it’s okay, modeling isn't for everybody and I guess its just isn’t for me anyway.”

Top 11
The boys do there first reward challenge. They are told that in order to be a model you must also be fit. So the boys are put through and Endurance test. They have to stand on a small platform, holding a bar above them. If they lower the bar beyond a certain point the platform will drop, leaving you suspended in air. Whoever can ignore the pain and hag there the longest would win the challenge. The competition began and about 20-30 minutes later it ended. Josh bDrakeg the last one standing won the reward. He won an extra 30 frames and his next shoot. He also enjoyed dinner at a top restaurant in Honolulu. He also got to pick three friends that he wanted to enjoy it with, so he picked Preston, Jacob and Brandon. They were also given 10 extra frames each for the next shoot.
The Gray Shoot
The boys had another early day, waking up and going to a studio. The note left by Sol said "feeling gray all day," the boys were clueless about the shoot. They get to the studio and Sol tells the boys you will be doing a gray shoot, meaning that the picture will be in shown as gray scale. The purpose was to look good in gray and portray emotion, thought a non-emotion picture. At elimination the judges was impressed with the amount of effort the boys gave to improve themselves from last week, especially with the difficulty of this shoot. Alika, who was in the bottom two at last elimination, stepped it up and had taken the best photo of the bunch. Justin and Francis, who have struggled during their shoot and failed to improve their pictures, were left in the bottom two. Sol Kahn said "both of you are at the Francis level. That's why the judges woere torn between who to send home. "We came to a conclusion that we don't know how you much you both want it so it comes down to who two we thought has more potential. So, Justin you are safe." Francis left with his head up high.

Top 10
Partner Shot
The boys get a lesson in how to dress. They are told they shouldn't mix colors and syles. Their competition is now to dress in the ways they learned by using the clothes, shoes etc. provided by Billabong, Quiksilver and Localmotion. The catch is there is not much choices, so it is first come and first serve. Jacob, won the challenge by waring red. He chose a red shirt, red surf shorts, red shoes and a red hat. Sol said his simple idea gave him the upper hand. For his win he had to chose one friend. He chose Adam. For and added bonus Jacob and Adam recieved all the clothes etc. provided by Billabong, Quiksilver and Localmotion. When the got back to the suite the boys revieved a letter saying that they will be working with somebody. The boys think that they will be doing a shoot that will have 2 people in it, they thought it was going to doing a photo shoot with a girl model. They were in for a big surprise. When they got to the studio, Sol and Tommy told them they will be paired up with another contestant. The key was to not out shine eachother but to be the Justine. Both models have to give the Francis emotion, strength and both connect with the camera.

When the boys go to panel they were told they were going to be judged with their partner, but the overall judgment will be individual. At judging the judges were impressed with Jacob's photo and felt like he totally out shined Bj. The pair of Josh and Ian turn out to have a amazing photo but Calebwas named the photo winner for having done all asked for the shoot. In the end the bottom two models were Alika and Justin. Alika was but in the bottom two for Justin all over the place for this shoot. The judges didn't understand because on the last shoot Alika had the best photo. But Justin was sent home because the judges felt like he didn't want it enough.
