Hi, just trying to find out why you replaced the screenshot I'd taken with one that looks identical. --Veratien (talk) 14:06, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi, I have simply transferred a file on commons. - Iniquity (talk) 11:39, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • Ah, cool. :) Thought it was a bit odd. :) Thanks. --Veratien (talk) 14:50, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Add ProveIt to the Russian Wikipedia

Hi Iniquity. Thanks a lot for your translation and support. I just published your translation, which means that ProveIt could now be easily enabled on the Russian Wikipedia. I'd like to request your help in making it happen. The general instructions for enabling ProveIt can be found at Commons:Help:Gadget-ProveIt, but I have a global permission to edit the MediaWiki namespace, so I can install the gadget at the Russian Wikipedia myself. However, before I do that, community consensus is required. I have prepared a simple post for the Russian community.

Hi everyone, I'd like to propose adding the ProveIt gadget to the list of gadgets. ProveIt makes it much easier to find, edit, add and cite references when editing articles (you can test it out at the Spanish Wikipedia by clicking here). I'm collaborating with the gadget developer who has the necessary permissions to enable the gadget at the Russian Wikipedia, but we need community consensus first. Also, if the gadget is enabled, he requests we create a tag at Special:Tags in order to track gadget usage. The gadget is currently in beta. What do you think? Thanks!

If consensus is achieved, I'll also need some help localising the content of MediaWiki:Gadget-ProveIt:

[[Wikipedia:ProveIt|ProveIt]] is a tool that adds a graphical user interface to find, edit, add and cite references (<span class="plainlinks">[{{fullurl:Fallacy|action=edit&withJS=MediaWiki:Gadget-ProveIt.js}} demo]</span>)

And the code comments, template names, edit summary and tag name of MediaWiki:Gadget-ProveIt.js need to be localised too:

/**
 * ProveIt is a powerful GUI tool to find, edit, add and cite references in any MediaWiki wiki
 * Full documentation at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Gadget-ProveIt
 *
 * The gadget itself is loaded directly from Commons, but here are a few conditions to minimize requests
 * and a few configuration options specific to this wiki
 */
// Only load on appropriate namespaces
var namespace = mw.config.get( 'wgNamespaceNumber' );
if ( namespace === 0 || namespace === 2 ) {

	// Only load when editing
	var action = mw.config.get( 'wgAction' );
	if ( action === 'edit' || action === 'submit' ) {

		// Only load when editing wikitext (and not in common.js or common.css, for example)
		var contentModel = mw.config.get( 'wgPageContentModel' );
		if ( contentModel === 'wikitext' ) {

			// Set the wiki-specific options (all options are optional and can be set to null)
			mw.config.set({
				'proveit-tag': 'ProveIt', // Revision tag created at Special:Tags
				'proveit-summary': 'Reference edited with ProveIt', // Edit summary automatically added by ProveIt
				'proveit-templates': [ // Citation templates with their TemplateData defined
					'Template:Cite book',
					'Template:Cite web'
				]
			});

			// Load the dependencies
			mw.loader.using([
				'jquery.cookie',
				'jquery.textSelection',
				'jquery.ui.draggable'
			]).then( function () {
				// Load the latest code directly from Commons
				mw.loader.load( '//commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Gadget-ProveIt.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript' );
				mw.loader.load( '//commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Gadget-ProveIt.css&action=raw&ctype=text/css', 'text/css' );
			});
		}
	}
}

I hope you find the time and energy to help me out, I'd really like to spread this gadget to other Wikipedias, starting with the Russian one. Cheers, and thanks again for your help so far! --Felipe (talk) 14:54, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Felipe Schenone:Thanks for your answer! Centralization of gadgets is a great idea. Yes, I would also like to ask the community about this. But you have to tell them that this is a beta version of the gadget, because we have a lot of questions about the interface. Iniquity (talk) 20:48, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
