What did I test?Icelandic Hurricane 21:13, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

math/energy

I don't really know how to draw math in wikipedia. Also, my energy calculations are original research and do not belong in wikipedia articles. There is no reliable way to calculate them anyway, and no way at all to estimate them for any hurricane prior to ~1995. — jdorje (talk) 21:31, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

You know, everything has a beginning. Let's say Einstein lived in the computer area and he wanted to post E=mc2 on Wikipedia, but it was original research. What do you think of that, eh?Icelandic Hurricane 21:36, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

Do you know anybody that could fix it for me?Icelandic Hurricane 21:48, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

images

It doesn't "center on" extratropical portions of the storm unless it's at hurricane strength or greater. This is needed since in most storms those extra bits are not useful. In cindy for instance they'd just make you zoom out and not see the important formation areas as well. With some storms (like Hurricane Mitch which tracked over to europe) this would be a huge problem. — jdorje (talk) 18:33, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

Oh. Sorry.Icelandic Hurricane 20:20, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

Repairs

BTW, if you have something on a page that's broken and needs to be fixed right away, go ahead and put a notice on my userpage. That'll pop up the "New Messages" link for me (if I'm online), so I can come over and take a look.  :) Elonka 18:45, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

OCD

That's not a bad idea you got there. I have an idea for the pressure. Why not divide by the pressure in bars? (998 mb would be .998 bars). Weak storms have pressures of over 1000, and are typically less destructive then more intense storms. Also, the minimum sustained winds after landfall makes little sense, IMO. Good luck finishing the formula. Hurricanehink 20:56, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your input. It helps alot!Icelandic Hurricane 20:57, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
Sure thing. Do you have any examples for any storms? Hurricanehink 22:15, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
No. I need to find out the sq. mi. of the windswath on land for any storm.Icelandic Hurricane 22:16, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

I don't understand the math of your formula. Increasing the damage decreases the OCD? A storm that causes no deaths automatically has an OCD of 0? What does "wind swath" even mean (from Image:Hurricane_Katrina_wind_swath.gif it looks like Katrina's wind swath covers 100,000-200,000 square miles, but for most strong hurricanes it's probably more like 10,000 square miles)? A better formula would be a linear combination of the values, that is mA + nD + pC + q(1013 - b), for some values of m, n, p, and q. — jdorje (talk) 22:34, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

I have no clue what linear means. I'm only in 6th grade!Icelandic Hurricane 22:37, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Response

  • (1) Find the date of Dan Brown's wedding
  • (2) Check local libraries for old newspapers. Find a good long article on something that interests you, and you'll have good reference material for a new article
  • (3) Find out if Lincoln Akerman is related to Attorney General Akerman

Nor'easter seasons

Good idea, but you'd have to talk to the National Weather Service about that. CrazyC83 21:16, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

yo, dude is there a way i could show u my science report, soo u can tell me if its decent or not, tell me if ya can. thanks!Icelandic Clementine

What animal is it on? And, maybe if you type part of it on your userpage or my talk page (here), I could see how it's going. Or, you can scan it and poste it on your userpage. You better have used Wikipedia as a source for your project!Icelandic Hurricane 23:11, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Re: Help Me!

Re: WPTC

Thanks for welcoming me aboard, Dr Debug might be able to help you...I think the problem is something with that Wikiproject Schools box...its too big or some tags arent closed or something. Weatherman90 22:55, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the info!Icelandic Hurricane 23:12, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

Re:Menu

I think it is because you have four columns instead of three...that might be the only way to fix it, im not sure though... Weatherman90 21:56, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

Okay, thanx. Icelandic Hurricane 00:19, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

Notable New Hampshire people

I think that's a *great* idea. You could make stubs on them, and use the book as the primary reference.  :) --Elonka 02:17, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
