I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Street Fighter Day, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. The policy for a thing to be considered notable is that it has had multiple news stories or books written about it from independent sources, so I'm afraid 60 or 70 people practicing it isn't enough. If there are news stories about it, you should cite them in the references section of the article. If not, you ought to tag the article with {{db-author}} to have it deleted, and focus your effort on other things. --Sopoforic 01:03, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The 'not for things made up in school one day' thing is a reference to the common name of one of our policies: Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not for things made up in school one day. It basically restates what I've just told you: you need this holiday to have news stories or books or journal articles or something written about it, before we can include it. --Sopoforic 01:06, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am still going to nominate it for deletion, but there will be a discussion about whether the thing in notable, and other editors will also try to find sources. The discussion will last up to one week, and the article will only be deleted if there is a consensus that it should not be in the encyclopedia. You may present any sources you find at that discussion. --Sopoforic 01:15, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The debate is here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Street Fighter Day. --Sopoforic 01:27, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
