Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia with this username. This is because your username, IP-80.134.90.212, resembles an IP address (presumably your IP address), and hence can be used to locate you geographically.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you think that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Diannaa (talk) 23:54, 8 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

WTF? Blocked because "can be used to locate you geographically" - I give a shit about being "geographically" located. And there are thousands of edits under IPs where the user can be located. Shall I now create a new account only for English Wikipedia? WTF?

Decline reason:

Wikipedia's username policy specifically prohibits accounts with usernames which resemble IP addresses. You can create a new account with a new username if you wish, or you can use the {{unblock-un|your new username here}} template to request that this account be renamed. You can also edit whilst logged out, which will record your IP address. However, you cannot name your account after an IP address. Yunshui  08:44, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

1) This was not answered: "Shall I now create a new account only for English Wikipedia?" 2) This is a false statement: "you cannot name your account after an IP address." The mere existence of my account is the proof. English Wikipedia is not my primary Wiki, I created the account somewhere else. And English Wikipedia is the only to have blocked me.

Decline reason:

It is physically (or should that be electronically?) possible to create an account with almost any name not already taken. There is no software check on suitability because of the seemingly infinite inventiveness of people. So you are correct - you CAN create such an account. But on en-wiki, unlike WikiData it seems, you MAY not. Here one may not use the name of an organisation - on de-wiki one may (subject to conditions, I believe). As to creating a new account, you may do that as the restriction on account creation is not set. Or you may request a name change universally. We do have a user called 78.26 which appears to be acceptable so 80.134 probably would be - without the IP I would think. Peridon (talk) 13:46, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
User:Peridon - Thanks for your above unblock-response and for the extra reply. "There is no software check on suitability because of the seemingly infinite inventiveness of people." - that could be solved by removing the prohibitive rules from policies that the "seemingly infinite inventiveness of people" created. Blocking names that contain an IP with the reasoning "can be used to locate you geographically" is plain stupid if at the same time IP-edits are allowed. @Peridon: I believe I'm right in saying that User:78.26 (and a couple of other users with IP-esque usernames) had their usernames grandfathered in, because they were created before the rule about IP-like usernames was added. To the best of my knowledge, new editors would not be able to choose usernames like this any more.
IP-80.134.90.212, I'm not actually sure why the block template is phrased that way (I agree that it seems rather redundant), but the fact is, here on en-wiki we have a rule that prohibits usernames which resemble IP addresses. If you want to edit here, I'm afraid that you need to follow the site's rules, and that includes editing under an appropriate username. Yunshui  14:48, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
My wording in the block notice was not very good. The information about your IP address being used to geolocate you was added for information only, as you might not be aware of it. Judging by the overlap of topics edited, it looks like you're the same person who was editing from that IP. It does not actually form part of the block reason, and should have been added as a separate note. My apologies. -- Diannaa (talk) 18:45, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
