Welcome!

Hello, Hippoking/Archive 1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  Dark Shikari 13:53, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from vandalizing my user page. Further abuse will result in a complaint to an admin about your behaviour. Thanks. Wikidrone 22:58, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This was not vandalism, I removed a dead link. As for your notice, while it is considered courteous not to edit people's user pages in most circumstances, you have no right to deny people to do so. I suggest you take this up at the Village Pump if you want confirmation. Feel free to contact an admin as well, should you wish. Hippoking 23:06, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You have no right to add the notice in your user page to it. I will direct you here for clarification on the matter. I have no interest in an editwar regarding this, and I will remove this notice one more time. If you wish to discuss the policy, head over to the Village Pump and discuss it there. Okay, here is an excerpt from said policy:
In general it is considered polite to avoid substantially editing another's
user page without their permission. Some users are fine with their user pages
being edited, and may even have a note to that effect. Other users may object
and ask you not to edit their user pages, and it is probably sensible to
respect their requests. The best option is to draw their attention to the
matter on their talk page and let them edit their user page themselves if
they agree on a need to do so. In some cases a more experienced editor may
make a non-trivial edit to your userpage, in which case that editor should
leave a note on your talk page explaining why this was done. This should not
be done for trivial reasons.
Please note that while the userspace technically belongs to the community, you are not really supposed to make changes to peoples pages if they object. In case you were confused, I have strong objections regarding any other user editing my user page. You are editing the page without my permission. Please stop it. Wikidrone 23:20, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'll grant that it was premature of me to remove it myself. You may add a notice asking that others do not modify your page, but you have no right to attempt to deny them that ability. As I stated, I have no interest in getting into an edit war over this. I have added the relevant information to your talk page.Hippoking 23:23, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Updated. I will not remove the original notice again, but I must request that should you wish to add a notice requesting that others leave your page be, feel free. There is no issue with that. However, you have no right to make an outright denial of anyone's ability to edit it, most of all not the admins. The User page belongs to the community, not to you. However, while there, should you request it, nearly everyone will leave your page as it is (unless it contains clear breaches of Wikipedia policy, such as the one I removed) Hippoking 23:27, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Updated again, since you seem to be removing anything I write on your talk page. First off, discussion of your user page belongs on your Talk page. That's what it's there for. Removing any dissent against you is not what wikipedia is about. As I have stated, I will not get into an edit war over this, and I will not edit your user talk page again, since apparently that falls under the iron fist as well. I will request that you make the alterations I have suggested, and that you revert the discussion to it's correct place, but I will not attempt to enforce this in any way. Once again, I suggest that you read over the Policy pages and take any questions you might have to the Village Pump. This should help avoid such disputes in the future. Removing content from your talk page

It is not considered "okay" to remove messages from your talk page. You are freely welcome to archive it, but not to blank it. Thanks. --King Bee 21:33, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I'd never run into that. Archiving now Hippoking 22:57, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
