Please read the above to understand why the two blogs are not reliable sources for Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 andPortugal in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008. there should be plenty of appropriate coverage in the press of each country. Jezhotwells (talk) 21:02, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Just because other reviewers have missed this does not mean that these are WP:RS. Both sites are clearly blogs, no statement of ownership or editorial policy. I shall examine the other artciles that have used these sites almost exclsuively as sources. Jezhotwells (talk) 21:11, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
I have posted at WP:Reliable sources/Noticeboard. I am confident that I can recognise a non-reliable source when I see one. If you are unhappy about my good faith quick fail, take the articles to WP:GAR. Jezhotwells (talk) 21:20, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Your reversions

Your reversion of the credibility tag does not make the sources credible, please use RS or demonstrate the reliability of esctoday and oikotimes. Thanks Jezhotwells (talk) 15:45, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Any news which is on esctoday.com is secondary information, for which its original sourcing is from either the EBU or the official Eurovision.tv website. Therefore esctoday IMO can be seen as a reliable source. As for oikotimes, I'm not too sure, as they have been known for providing wrong information in the past. Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2010

Hi Stephen. It has now been confirmed that Belarus will be the hosts for JESC 2010. I've made a start on the article; but I'm confused a little and could do with some help. At the bottom of the article is an error message. I've tried everything to resolve it, but it just won't disappear. Could you please look into this for me.

Many Thanks Gareth (Pr3st0n (talk) 18:37, 8 June 2009 (UTC))

Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008

Hi Grk. I'll assist if you need help looking for sources for this article. I have to agree that Oikoptimes and ESCToday is not reliable sources and from the references I found, my impression was that they had just copied someone else's news. BTW, I reverted your last edit to the article. Per the instructions at Template:Cite news you should not italicize. Rettetast (talk) 01:22, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

RfC on reliable sources for Eurovision articles

A second RfC has been started on sourcing for Eurovision articles, you can view it at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eurovision#RfC on reliable sources for Eurovision articles. You are being notified as you are specifically mentioned on the list of events relating to the dispute at least once. The list is intended to be factual to help focus discussion, please point out any errors or omissions. You are free to participate in the debate if you wish. Your endorsements on Centralized discussion/Macedonia

Hi! I have noticed that you have endorsed certain proposals in the centralized discussion. Please keep in mind that your endorsement will be given more weight if you back it up with a policy rationale. Endorsements that lack references to policy might end up being disregarded in the end. I just thought I should let you know :) --Radjenef (talk) 14:49, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi! Would it be possible to make the pic you uploaded for the English Wikipedia available to everybody else, through WikiCommons? I think he'll look good on his Romanian page as well... Thanks, in any case, Yahal.Olal (talk) 15:01, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

I am not the uploader, but seeing that it is a free image, it can be transferred to wikicommons. I am not too familiar with the process though since my only real commons images are my own. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 17:19, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

I have conducted a reassessment of this article and found a large number of issues with the prose style, referencing and possible original research. There were so many that I delisted the article. These concerns can be found at Talk:San Marino in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008/GA2. Thanks. Jezhotwells (talk) 15:34, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Straw poll on reliable sources for Eurovision articles

The second RfC on sourcing for Eurovision articles has now being running for several weeks, you can view it at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eurovision#RfC on reliable sources for Eurovision articles. In order to help gauge the spread of opinion and draw conclusions from this discussion a straw poll has been started at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eurovision#Straw poll. All project members are encouraged to read the RfC thoroughly and then cast their votes as they see fit. Rationales are still encouraged in the main discussion area above the poll, and participants can add appropriate new sources or options to the poll as they wish. Other news
  • I am still working on the categorization matter. With any luck, we should have some results by the end of the month. There are also some discussions regarding project related activities at Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/General Forum. One issue in particular that might be addressed is possible elections of new coordinators. Anyone interested in serving in such a capacity is more than welcome to indicate as much.

From the Members

Welcome to the Tenth issue of the WikiProject Christianity newsletter! Use this newsletter as a mechanism to inform yourselves about progress at the project and please be inspired to take more active roles in what we do.

It has been a long time since the last coordinators election. There is a lot for people to do, and I certainly would welcome seeing any individuals with an interest in such a position put themselves forward as candidates. I in particular would very much like to see some degree of "specialization" in the coordinators, so that, for instance, we might have someone knowledgable about some of the specific Christian faith traditions or other main subjects, like Orthodoxy, Lutheranism, Mormonism, the Jehovah's Witnesses, art, theology, and so on. If any parties who have experience with some of our faith- or- subject-based content would be interested in being candidates, I would love to see them do so. Please feel free to take part in the discussion regading what the minimum number of category items is, and how to deal with the non-qualifying categories, on the General Forum page.

Progress on ESC FAR

Since the start of July, the only substantive changes have been your formatting some cites. Is anyone still planning to work on this? YellowMonkey (cricket calendar poll!) paid editing=POV 02:55, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Yea, I'm planning on working on it some more over the weekend. I don't have much free time during the week. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 11:56, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

MySpace not allowed

This is very old ground. An external link to a site that otherwise disallowed does not become ok, just because someone adds the word "official" to it. Read [1]. Piano non troppo (talk) 22:08, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Every so often you go through and remove the links even though it is clear that a link to any official site of the artist is permitted and even though this has been discussed several times and ended up in favor of the links. The external link policy states that Except for a link to an official page of the article's subject—and not prohibited by restrictions on linking—one should avoid:... This means that since the links are official, you never get down to the list that talks about myspace and other social networking sites. That guideline is for unofficial sites. I'll also add that the link is not prohibited by restrictions on linking. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 22:49, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
It is NOT clear that external link to an official site is ok. Exactly the opposite. Only one official site is genrally allowed, and sometimes, not even that.
As I said, this is old ground. Let me cut to the chase. You are wrong. Go to Madonna's page. Go to Britney Spears' page. You don't think they have MySpace pages? Then why aren't they there?
The XLinkBot now automatically deletes MySpace pages. Get up to date, please.
I'm not going to argue with you. If you have an issue, take it up with the admins. Piano non troppo (talk) 23:12, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
The bot removes myspace because most are not official. The policy is very clear and you cannot seem to understand this. Also, it is inappropriate to use the rollback feature on anything but vandalism. It should never be used in disputes. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 23:24, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
You don't address the issues, which I have spelled out in great detail on my page, but wave your hand at what you claim are "very clear policies". I know what the policies are. I was involved in discussions making the policies. MySpace pages are only allowed when there is no other official option.
I find you both argumentative, and ignorant. Discussion ends. Piano non troppo (talk) 23:36, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
I find your attitude very haughty and ignorant as well. Numerous times I have pointed out that the site is allowed per the current wording and whether its a loop hole or not, it exists and I will edit accordingly. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 02:51, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Updated DYK query On July 18, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Melodifestivalen 2009, which you recently nominated. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Eurovision Origins

Hi. I changed the "Bristol Evening Post" reference because it is an offline publication, and unverifiable by me - or anyone else without access to that newspaper. The terms "correct info" in my edit summary was not meant to disparage any information in the BEP - just saying that the online link from the EBU site also gives the correct information as is in the article, and is therefore a suitable reference. You can re-word things if you like, but I do feel that it is better in every possible way to use a reference from ebu.ch rather than an unverifiable one from the Bristol Evening Post which no-one can check - if they both give the same information! If you see what I mean... EuroSong talk 00:19, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

Where does it say that offline sources are favoured over website ones? I believe that may be the case for academic or scientific publications, but when it comes to verification of simple facts, don't you agree that it's better to have a reference from the European Broadcasting Union than one from a regional newspaper? If you disagree, I think we should take this matter to the talk page. EuroSong talk 10:35, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

WikiProject Christianity Newsletter - August 2009

I understand. I guess I should probably remove the one from List of Burn Notice episodes as well, right? Kevinbrogers (talk) 22:06, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Yes. That table is a table of contents, so listing a season that has no other information than an episode count isn't very useful. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 22:12, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Vissi DYK

Hello Grk1011! I created the article List of awards and nominations received by Anna Vissi and I was hoping to get it nominated for DYK but I'm not sure exactly how to go about this. I think that it is of sufficient length (10kb), although it may require more prose, which I could add to the lead. I don't really have an idea of what the fact should be, though. GreekStar12 (talk) 07:38, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

If you address the following issues, I will nominate it for you (you still get the credit). "Due to the poor condition of the music industry, the awards have not been held since 2007" and "successor of the Pop Corn Music Awards" needs a source. Eurovision placings need sources (use the Greece and Cyprus pages on the ESC website) and viewing figures as well. You have no sources for Pop Corn or Thessaloniki and finally the existing sources need to be formatted correctly. These are not all requirements of the DYK process, but things that should get done before the page is advertised to the masses ;) I'll fix what I can if I have some time. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 13:42, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
OK, so I found refs and finally fixed the article. Sorry it took me so long, lol :p GreekStar12 (talk) 00:51, 7 September 2009 (UTC) Oh PS, there is something weird going on with all of the awards articles that use that template (Rouvas, Paparizou, Vissi, Bowie etc.). The nominations columns in the infobox all turn up yellow now! GreekStar12 (talk) 00:52, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
It seems to be a homemade template. Like it's not transcluded, the code is actually on the page. This means that you probably just need to adjust the color codes. Also, for the references, would they be better in-line with each nomination instead of grouped in the prose? Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 00:58, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
I'm not really sure cuz I've never done this before, but how about smth like DYK "Anna Vissi won 15 Pop Corn Greek Music Awards from 1997-2001" or Anna Vissi set the record for the most wins in one ceremony with four MAD Video Music Awards in 2004." As for the changing the color codes, I don't really know what could be done because the codes on that template are different than the html codes used for the rest of the templates. GreekStar12 (talk) 19:00, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
Well, i'm not sure what u r asking. Do u mean that each source has to be put beside the nominated/won boxes, b/c when i looked at George Michael's and Alannis Morissette's (FA List) they had the refs put above the templates. Also, if there is one ref sourcing the years 1997-2001 and they source all 15 awards wouldn't that be verification enough? Does the source literally have to say word for word "Vissi won 15 awards from 97-01"? I noticed that David Bowie's disco page was in DYK one day and it said something like "all of David Bowie's albums have reached the top 10 in the UK since 19??'s _____". GreekStar12 (talk) 19:19, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
Ok, so i fixed the MAD awards. I left the Arion refs in the prose b/c the arions only show wins so they are easy to manage and the pop corns only use one ref. I refd the wins in the MAD VMAs and left the nomination refs in the prose so they do not get mixed up. (there are for nom refs and she has been nominated in 4 different years). I don't think any other awards needed this because they only show wins, escept for ESC, which is pretty straight forward. GreekStar12 (talk) 19:59, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Cyprus

You can probably handle Cyprus chart issues better than I can: is there any nationwide chart for Cyprus? There's http://www.superfmradio.com/charts/index.htm , but that appears to be a single network airplay chart.—Kww(talk) 15:25, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

Well Cyprus being the size it is and the fact that only half of the island is Greek-Cypriot, there aren't many radio stations or retailers, not to mention that albums, songs, etc. are default released in Cyprus as if it were part of Greece without any extra fanfare. Music.net.cy has a lot of news regarding the Greek music industry in Cyprus and in its charts section [2] it has links to what it seems the mainstream Cyprus media has accepted as the charts of the island. Musical Paradise is a five location music retailer, while the Super FM is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) music radio station. I know that certifications are awarded, but I'm not sure by whom or what the thresholds are. Hope this helps. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 15:37, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
It seems to be in the same situation as my country, then: too small to have a chart. It's a shame, though: if someone would provide a chart that combined the two listed there, it would be just fine, because it would mix results from two different vendors.—Kww(talk) 16:35, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
Musical Paradise is albums and singles, Super FM is airplay, sorry if that wasn't clear. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 05:03, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Friendly suggestion regarding the Vrisko To Logo Na Zo article

Hello. Regarding the Vrisko To Logo Na Zo article, when the IP (or anyone for that matter) engages in obvious vandalism like deleting a section, revert the editor and issue them a warning. If they do it again, revert and issue an escalated warning. After four levels of escalated warnings have been issued, you can just report the editor to WP:AIV, which will get much faster service than WP:RFPP. Thanks, — Kralizec! (talk) 17:59, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

I have left three messages on the editor's various ip talk pages. It changes by day, so blocking one ip won't stop him. I'm not sure what there is that can be done. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 18:51, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

CONTACT

Please stop changing Elena's next album to her fifth. Regardless of what language The Game of Love was it was still an album she released, in Greece as well as a matter of fact. As for "Tha' mai Allios", the wording states that it was originally planned to be released on a re-release of Vrisko, but the plans have changed. Elena said this herself in an interview. By removing the sentence, what you leave makes no sense at all, have you even read it through? In addition, just because plans have changed, does not mean we forget about what was originally announced, we simply say that the plans have changed which is exactly what it says. FIRST OF ALL I WOULD LIKE TO TELL U THAT I AM THE MANAGER FROM THE OFFICIAL HELENA S PAPARIZOU CLUB IN GREECE!!! I KNOW ALL HER LATEST NEWS AND YOU TAKE HER NEWS FROM OUR CLUBS!!!! MISTAKES
1. GERNE.....SHE S A ROCK SINGER NOW!!!! AS SHE HAS STATED AND NOT ALL THESE MIXED KINDS OF MUSIC

Let me lay it out for you. She may sing rock now, but her biography is for her ENTIRE life. Was My Number One or Anapandites Kliseis rock? No. Saying her genre is rock is saying that every song she has ever released is rock. We don't want to confuse the readers which is what you seem to be attempting to do. Her main discography means nothing and no where does it say main discography, it says albums. She has released four albums period. Her personal preferences to not mean anything here, that would be a conflict of interest. The Game of Love doesn't just disappear to please her Greek audience. If something was planned and canceled, why shouldn't we mention that? If people are confused, then they can't read well. Wikipedia is not here so you can find out gossip on your favorite singer, it is here to be a scholarly source on the subject. The re-released being canceled is history, you cannot change that, it has already happened. Also what does being the manager of a fan club mean for wikipedia? You know nothing about how things work here. I am a member of Paparizou Forum, the largest and most popular English language Elena forum and I know just as much as you, you are no expert who should get special privileges. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 20:01, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
THEN, I READ WHAT YOU WRITE AND I MUST APOLOGIZE FOR WHAT I SAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I UNDERSTAND WHAT EXACTLY YOU MEAN. SO OTHER PEOPLE HAVE TOLD ME WRONG INFORMATION I WANT TO DO A FAVOUR!!!! TO UNLOCK THE PAGE AND I PROMISE I PROMISE I SWEAR THAT I WILL NOT CHANGE ANYTHING! User Talk Pages

Hi Stephen, Just a quick note to check something with you (I've also asked Camaron for his opinion on this). I've had 2 users via another talk page Talk:List_of_channels_on_Virgin_TV basically throwing instructions on how my user page and talk page should be operated. Are there set instructions on how a user should set out their own profile and talk pages? I was under the impression that a user could layout their profile to their own personal taste. They also quote to saying that I should not archive items on my personal talk page. Is this true? Should archiving only be done on official articles and not on personal talk pages? I value your opinion on this. Regards (Gareth aka (Pr3st0n (talk) 11:15, 13 September 2009 (UTC)))

Vissi tour info

From the anna vissi page, i dont understand what you mean by it should be in the body? where exactly should this be put? there is no section for Shockedbio (talk) 16:10, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

It should be in the part of the article talking about her career, not a random section attached to the end of the article. It is part of Apagorevemeno so either put it on that page or lump it as a paragraph in her bio. Also consider if it is sourced and whether or not it needs mention in the article. Is it really necessary to say what was on the screen during one tour? Your material seems very trivial. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 16:41, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Actually I do think it's necessary to put this as it is her working artists that are credited which opened up one of her biggest tours in years. If she thought that they were important enough to open up each city in her tour then they are important enough to be mentioned on this page. This was an important feature of her show, period. Furthermore, this was important because it was her first time performing in Greece on that kind of stage in over 3 years. If someone can put up that she had a summer concert in Athens, then I believe artists opening up her tour and her tour setup are more informative and imporant. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shockedbio (talkcontribs) 16:48, 14 September 2009 (UTC) Shockedbio (talk) 17:38, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Shockedbio (talk) 16:22, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Again, on the contrary, there are so many pages in this "encyclopedia" with random facts and information about such things. This artists opening up for a major artist and that's trivial? wow.

Esena Mono

I read your message only today. The Web-Site there was indicated for those who try to find reply to the question: 'Who is Eldar Mansurov?', the song is given for the listener to make their choice if they agree that Esena Mono was sampled from Bayatilar.

But there is a trustable source in Azerbaijani that we can indicate there. That is a program prepared by the channel Ictimai TV of Azerbaijan, which is an EBU member, called History of one song. This program every time tells the history of another Azerbaijani song which stepped over the borders of our country and gained fame in many other countries of the World. The program dedicated to Bayatilar by Eldar Mansurov is one of the series of this program where they mention also Esena Mono as one of the versions of this song. I translated some section of the 4th part of this program available on the net, the section which is followed by the clip of Kaiti Garbi:

1:31-2:16 ...Some time would past and the listener would be a witness of a new version of this song. The song called Esena Mono that appeared in the album ‘Emmones Idees’ of a Greek singer Kaiti Garbi released in 2003 was actually the song we already knew very well: Bayatilar. This version of the song gained love and demand as well as the older popular version which also had been loved by the Eastern World till then. Namely this version topped the hit parades in our fm frequencies as well: our country was not indifferent to this version. At the same period, singer presented a new Acoustic variant of the song. There is another point: Neither in the official web-site , nor in the album of Kaiti Garbi, nor in any sources about Kaiti Garbi’s singing this song, the name of the composer was indicated. We would not like to turn back again to the topic ‘Author rights’. Because everything is clear as the Sun….
