Hi GreatDaneleftbehind2023 and welcome to Wikipedia. My name is HickoryOughtShirt?4 and I am an Administrator on Wikipedia. When I came across your account and began reviewing your edits, a lot of them concerned me. All of your edits seem to be surrounding Greg Ellis (actor) in a controversial/negative manner. While I am sure we all have our own opinions, I advise against spending your time editing by adding only negative information aimed at discrediting/bashing Greg Ellis. Editing solely in this manner could lead to a block and/or ban. I have no opinion on this actor, nor am I familiar with his work. I am simply noting that all of your edits seem to be aimed at a negative portrayal of him. I advise you to read our neutral point of view policy and our due weight policy.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 15:38, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm relatively new to editing Wikipedia, and I've recently learned some important principles, including the importance of maintaining neutrality in articles. I've made some edits to the page about Ellis in the "Career" section to include information about his book. I have also deleted items that were not neutral.
My intention here is not to discredit or bash Ellis, but rather to address what I perceived as a one-sided presentation on his page. I believe it's essential to maintain a balanced and neutral perspective in Wikipedia articles.
Please feel free to review the changes I've made and provide any feedback or suggestions for improvement. I'm open to discussion and collaboration to ensure that the article accurately represents the subject.
Thank you for your understanding and assistance.

Hi GreatDane. That’s a valid concern however there are better ways to bring an article into a neutral point of view without adding unnecessary controversies. I am growing concerned, again, with your obsession with this actor. Biographies of living people are held to high standards of sourcing and editing. The YouTube videos you are citing are not enough. I recommend spending some time editing other topics to gain a greater understanding of Wikipedia. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 07:17, 17 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Waxworker. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Greg Ellis (actor), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Waxworker (talk) 08:32, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"URL_1: The website above displays Greg Ellis as his stage name rather than his real name, along with the captivating story behind it, which I found to be intriguing. Please let me know if the source isn't reliable, although the same source is listed on the same wiki page." GreatDaneleftbehind2023 (talk) 12:26, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
His website would be a fine source per WP:ABOUTSELF, but the text added can't be verbatim what it says on the website as that's a copyright violation, and should be shorter. Something like 'He chose the stage name Greg Ellis after learning that there was already an actor named Jonny Rees' is more to the point, details like "twenty plus potential new names" seems trivial and unnecessary to note. Waxworker (talk) 20:13, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Understood and thank you. Would I need to reference WP:ABOUTSELF? GreatDaneleftbehind2023 (talk) 15:55, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not necessarily, but it would be good to mention it in the edit summary explaining what you're adding. Waxworker (talk) 07:56, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
