Hello

Hello, I noticed you edited a Hip Hop related article. If you wish you can join the new Hip Hop Wikiproject. --Chubdub 16:29, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re:The Wu-Tang Article

The Wu-Tang Clan article is well-written, but it lacks refrences and citations (see WP:CITE). Plus, I have requested that a Timeline of album releases and events be made and audio samples inserted.

Thanks for the suggestions.--Gяaρнic 03:10, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Also, a "Style and influences' section would be great. When all of this is done, this article should be a Wikipedia: Featured Article in no time. And if you need help on the timeline, I could be of some use.
Thanks. I could use help with a lot of the "flood" solos and on what events to include. And now that I think about it, I could really use help with sources, mostly with stuff like Cuban Linx/Ironman/Liquid Swords being the fan favorites, Deck being the outstanding member on Wu-Tang Forever, etc. It's all stuff thats pretty clear to anyone who has talked with other fans but it's going to be very hard to find sources to back it up. Can you source message board threads? Haha most likely not. Hopefully we or someone can figure something out though. I would source old Source and XXL articles/reviews if I still had any of them--Gяaρнic 15:55, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If you search individual flood album on Amazon, they should provide release dates. As for sources, it would be best to stick with articles, editorial, and even album reviews instead of Messegebord Threads. I am quite busy at this moment, and will not be able to search for sources until the weekend. Until then, you can identify places in the articles which need citations by placing {{fact}} next to it. That will be a big help.
On another note, I think you should avoid using [ ~~~~~(website source)~~~~ ] as a means of citing your sources. For potiental featured articles, it would be best to organize external links according to {{Cite web}}. In other words, the crruent citation system needs to be converted to the <ref> system (see WP:FOOTNOTEs). Chubdub 21:22, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
One last thing. Maybe you could consider replacing the current timeline with a Meta Timelime (See Tupac Shakur timeline for an example). Oh yeah, and the lead to the article needs to be expanded, and a "Musical style and trademark" section would be great. Thanks for listening to my advice! Chubdub 21:28, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yeah. For the influence section, you should include how the Wu-Tang Clan played a pivotal role in the East Coast renaissance of the mid-1990s, their impact within hardcore hip hop, and you ought to elaborate on the influence of RZA's production style (it is claimed that he influenced producers like Kayne West, Just Blaze, and The Alchemist). Chubdub 23:45, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I was joking about the message board thing, but thanks for the tips. --Gяaρнic 03:36, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've taken the oppurtunity to identify areas that need citations. I hope that this will help you in your quest for references. Chubdub 12:46, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Wutanglive.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Wutanglive.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 15:36, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it's a screenshot from their live concert DVD which is allowable as far as I know. I submitted it a long time ago so I don't recall whether or not I mislabeled it. I guess it would be filed under "movie screenshot" but I don't know the tag for it. --Gяaρнic 16:35, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whats up? Hi, I'm trying to gather some more interest and support for the Wikipedia:WikiProject Punk music. Please check out the topics and lets get our WikiProject to function better. Recently, I've taken an interest in the Wikipedia:WikiProject hip hop and I consider that WikiProject to be better developed. I am now writing to usernames on the hiphopWP who might be interested in helping with the punkmusicWP. Hopefully we can all work together to improve articles relating to punk as has been done well with hip hop. Finally, I am trying to gather support and opinions concerning the punk house article and specifically the Theta Beta Potata article which is currently in AfD (x2) at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Theta Beta Potata (second nomination). Please check it out and voice your opinion. Xsxex 09:08, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Jeruthedamaja.JPG

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Jeruthedamaja.JPG. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. High on a tree (talk) 19:45, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Wu tang financial.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Wu tang financial.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. After Midnight 0001 16:39, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Doesn't the selected pre-made tag that wikipedia provided me with when I uploaded it say it all?
"This image is a screenshot of a copyrighted television program or station ID. As such, the copyright for it is most likely owned by the company or corporation that produced it. It is believed that the use of a limited number of web-resolution screenshots
for identification and critical commentary on the station ID or program and its contents
on the English-language Wikipedia, hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation,
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law"
If not, then just delete it. I don't do anything on Wikipedia anymore, and I'm suddenly being constantly bomboarded with fair use stuff for images I uploaded (all of which seemed to me to be clearly within the guidlines of the fair use descriptions each one is tagged with) and I honestly don't care if everything I've ever uploaded gets deleted.--Gяaρнic 22:47, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Gfk-rza-source.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Gfk-rza-source.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:29, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
